He was supposed to fight Oleg until he got a shot at Vitali. That fight could of help his career better instead of going for Vitali though. He went for a shot too soon imo.
Im still a fan of Williams though and would like to see h im champ one day.

I agree, I don't think the Klitchsko fight though has completely derailed his popularity and respect in the US - they did appreciate his bravery at the least.
I think he should still focus on America - I'm not saying go for another champion, but maybe try and get TV exposure vs a known commodity. Oleg Maskaev would be ideal right now - Highly ranked and still beatable. Davryll Williamson or Larry Donald might be other avenues.
The Americans still see Skelton as a 15 fight novice who has beaten up a punch of Has beens. As ANY American who should be ranked higher Harrison or Skelton and they will all say Audley. Ask most Americans who should be higher Williams and Harrison, whilst it is split most would probably say Williams.
If Williams harbours any ambitions, then he should be fighting guys ranked lower than him - with Skelton he is in both world and European terms.
Its a great fight for Skelton, not such a good one for Williams. Just cannot see what he gains by winning (he already has a lonsdale belt).
Williams has never belonged on the world stage though. He beat a shot to bit injured Tyson. Samil San's limitations at world level have been exposed yet he absolutely brutalised Williams in 6 rounds.
He's never belonged at that higher level.
Maskaev would beat him up I think.

I'd like to see myself with a Harem of supermodels one day, however, it's not going to happen either. I suppose williams would have a chance at Lamon Brewster, but he's so easy to hit, and Brewster is pretty tough given the amount of punishment he took off of Wladimir.

He'll never be a genuine world champ. I realy dont see how he beats any of the legit belt holders - or many in the top 10 come to think of it, and once Golota beats Brewster I doubt he'll even get the WBO belt.

Just a pendantic question to ask. Is the fight for just the British title and not Commonwealth as well? Even if the British is a mandatory and the Comm isn't, wouldn't it be sensible to put both on the line?

Skelton was stripped of the commonwealth belt immediately when he fought for the WBU.

Ta for that. Damn it those Aussies are clever.
I just looked at the comm regulations, and the vacant title can be fought for between any two of 15, which includes Skelton and Williams. It oculd have been made easily, but I suppose it's not that essential.

It actually used to be the "British Empire" title, they only changed it to "Commonwealth" for political correctness.
