Well, I don't think it's anything so overt as that. I think that when a sanctioning body has a long standing relationship with a promoter, which in the case of this fight they have with both. They are conscious not to piss them off. Neither promoter is going to be favoured unduly in this bout, in my opinion anyhow. It's not in the interests of the WBO to pull a fast one in any respect with the appointment of officials.

i hope it goes to a decision now. Veit outworking calzaghe is not gonna happen though.

Calzaghe inside 6 rounds, i say. Veit has improved but calzaghe is too busy and slaps too hard.

Veit is a Universum boxer. Sauerland doesnt really acknowledge WBO, they have only promoted 1 WBO world title fight, Nelson vs May, and a WBO Intl fight, Hoffmann vs someone, and thats mostly because he couldnt give them proper title shots. A couple of years ago Sauerland said in an interview that he doesnt see WBO as a real title.

Whoops! I always get universum and Sauerland confused. Am I right in thinking that the Klits were with Universum prior?

Klaus Peter Kohl = Universum and his son in law Dietar Poszwa runs Spotlight boxing. Universum had the Klitschkos under contract. The Klitschkos have now signed a co-promotion deal with the swiss Wilfried Sauerland (that promotos shows in Germany on austrian licens, which is also why both Klitschkos have an austrian licens now)

Lad on another forum who has a friend at the event (mate of a mate of a mate of a dog, I know) said that Veit looked to be filling his pants at the public workout / face-off.

Please don't shoot me for the spurious source, just thought I'd drop it in.

I was just thinking along those lines - I might have a bash on that 1st round knockout after all.

It's not often a fighter finds himself in Veit's position tomorrow night. Having to face a guy who has well and truly iced him inside three minutes the last time they met, with a world title on the line to boot.

He's going to feel the world on his shoulders as they face off before the opening belt - shaking like a leaf in the wind....and no wonder.

Calzaghe says he's not going for a first round repeat, but I think he'll find it impossible to resist having a go at catching Veit cold yet again.

Just imagine how exciting this must all be if you're a Veit fan. Lost badly last time, now it's in his territory, Veit has clearly improved but has he improved enough? I envy the Germans this week.

Calzaghe and betting reminds me of the salem fight, £100 on 13/2 for calzaghe on points, how sweet was that.

I'm still waiting for another one of those to pop up.

As for the fight, Calzaghe wins inside 6. Don't think he'll starch veit again. If veit is shitting himself, he'll just run in the 1st round this time, I'm sure the scenario has gone through his head a few times. He'll just be looking to stay out of trouble, IMO.

The worrying thing for Veit is the shots Calzaghe did him with last time were practically cuffs/slaps I dont recall a clean shot landing square on the chin.

He was practically playing pat a cake with his head.

yes he has. Warren flexed his muscles, and showed who was the man with the influence where the WBO is concerned. Universum only have 1 fighter with a WBO belt right now, and that is Zsolt Erdei, who as far as I know is not a major draw.

Unversum only have one WBO champion at the moment but they have " a lot" of title shots comming up (at least potentially).

Now, this is something that might not be important, or might even due to natural age.

However, Calzaghe is definately thinning on top and it seems a sudden loss. Now, through my studies in nutrition I know the deficiencies in certain nutrients (Zinc and a few others) can lead to a dramatic thinning of the hair (so all those who are thinning - top up on these). I'm just wandering if he has had to diet so much to make the weight that he is deficient in some nutrients.
