Agreed, I am 6 4 and 17stone and felt like a midget next to Lennox.... dunno whether its the Aura or the big hair do but he just seems so much bigger than 6 5 and 19 stone

I always see him as the hard as F character who didn't give two monkeys who he fought and about his health at the time of the contest (i.e. fighting Barrera with a torn rotator cuff). It will be interesting to get to know him, to see if he was this over hyped, protected, fighter some people think he is.
i have met Tapia, he was training at the peacock gym for a week a few years back..... a really humble guy... chatted to everyone, played table football with the kids...a real energetic and happy guy!!!!
He was with Danny Romero and Eddie Mustafa Muhammed who were equally nice and genuine guys!!!!!

Had a chance to chat to Barry a while back, comes across as a very civil, decent and straight up bloke. He's also sharp as a tack, insightful and not afraid to speak his mind on occasion, I think he's a great ambassador for boxing in every respect.

Of all the character ever in boxing, I would have love to have met the late great Archie Moore, the guy was such a raconteur, so much more to him than just boxing, and he had such an incredible career and life. I talked to someone who met him, they wrote him a letter when they were an amateur boxer in the 80's, and not only did Archie reply, but took them under his wing, and helped train them. Lucky bastard.

Strange you should say that as about a year ago I met a bloke from St Lucia who had met Lennox. This guy was a good 6'5 and I guess 16st but described Lennox as F'kin HUGE!
I suppose the difference is the natural build. Were Lennox to be of average man-in-the-street fitness he's probably be 20-odd stone.
Yeah, in between fights after a long layoff, Lewis was probably pushing 300 lbs.

Barry McGuigan was the first fighter I've ever interviewed. Went to his house in Dargate. He made me a cuppa and sat and chatted while he ate his breakfast (sliced banana in All Bran). Very professional, savvy and easy to talk to. In fact, reminds me, I've got to chase him up for a chat about A) Induction into the hall of fame and B) It's nearly 20 years since he beat Pedroza to win the WBA featherweight title.

I think Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward would be another fantastic few hours if I could have a beer with them.
I know its mainly PR (or is it?) but when I see Ward in the corner with Gatti now I do get a little emotional, its great to see. I would like to know how much imput Ward and Ekulund have on Gatti's training and how much of the ring enterance is just for PR.
Its reminds me of Rocky III.

Stu I dont think its PR he wouldnt still be doing this 3 years after their last meeting.
theres a bond there Im sure of it.
but i could be biased as ive got a duel signed pic in the spare room.
p.s. Bubi bet you never thoguth you'd end up sharting a room with gatti and ward (frazier / la motta and hatton!!)

Its so irritating
I'm glad he does it, what aggrivates me more about Sky's presentation these days is Paul Dempsey (who is good) sucking up to Nelson all time. "Our world champion". He makes the little comments in introducing Nelson as if he Roy Jones.
To be fair to McGuigan though the show is presented so that he says the final word in each analysis - and usually when he interupts he doesn't usually talk for long, so perhaps it is Nelson/Piper/Oliver (whoever) is going on for too long.

Yes, meeting the great Azumah Nelson would indeed be an honour. I've met many people from Ghana and they all smile with great pride when I mention The Little Professor.
A great bloke by all accounts.
