I just find it odd a referee of Parris' stature has been given this one. Despite being capable of it (IMO) I don't think he is as internationally regarded in stature as the likes of Harry Gibbs. Bit odd to have a low tier top quality ref in the first place, but more so when he comes from the same country and has done 2 of the home fighters bouts in the last year. Hatton really has the definition of 'home advantage' - allegedly has swayed everything in his way. Hatton should thank him big time if he does deliver - win or lose.

Yes, I thought it would have been Vann - irresepective of his "relationship" with Hatton (for want of a better word). He always seems to get the big UK fights (the ones shown stateside).

Exactly.

This is a huge fight, it needs a big time referee, not least because of home advantage.

Cortez is a different league to Parris IMO. He has all the big fight experience in the world and has had countless faultless performances. parris has blundered his way through premature stoppage decisions and general howlers over the years- AND AT DOMESTIC LEVEL.

Who knows what he could get wrong on the big stage, when the ante is up.

it was parris. Mitchell was still throwing punches and parris jumped in like a scared rabbit.

Granted, Mitchell was on the way out, but he threw the last punch.

That situation never fails to put the ref in a position of blame.

No, it was Parris.


Parris is walking a fine line on this fight...

If he stops the fight early for either fighter, he's going to be black listed and / or investigated... And if someone gets seriously hurt, he will get frowned upon.

Cuts atrributed to heads, countback to points, early stoppages, starting to smell bad.

There's been regular writeups here on the fight and they progressively became more full on, regarding KT's fitness levels, his sparring and overall demeanor
