Probably wouldn't even get to make 6 'safe' defences. And considering the quality of 140 just now, I'd say he can make 2, 3 at a push, before he has to take on someone decent.

Hatton has always said that he wants to take on the best in the division, which he proved last night by beating Zoo. A sensible course of action would be to make a couple of easy defences then carry on where he left off from last night - take on the best. If he should lose to a major player in the division, somewhere down the line, then he can always satisfy himself in the knowledge that he beat the best to win the title and has made a few bob Good on him

Not going to answer the rest of your points, because you give me the impression you've took one look at my location and jumped the gun.

I've never been so happy to be wrong about a fight. I have to say Hatton as he said had a lot more in his locker than he had previously shown.

Horrible fight though, very sloppy but Hatton did what he had to do to win.

Before lambasting Tszyu for not finishing the fight lets wait and see how the dust settles. He looked to have some pretty serious facial damage could be a a fracture or anything. Lets see how that pans out before making judgement.

Tszyu should retire, not taking anything away from Hatton he set a ferocious pace but Tszyu lacked snap last night from the outset. He's been a great champion over the years.

Hatton had the right hustling style to turn tszyu old on the night, the wrestling on the inside really tired Kostya out, and Ricky looked the bigger stronger man in the clinches.

I was a little dissapointed that Tszyu didn't finish the fight, but I think his corner could see he had nothing left in the tank and his power was all but gone by that point.

It amazed me that Hatton was able to take those shots without even flinching, that was what broke Tszyu, the shots he had been felling people with bounced off Hatton's chin.

The scoring of the bout was poor though, how anyone had Hatton 5 rounds up after 11 is beyond me. A lot of his work was very sloppy, and Tszyu was blocking a high percentage of the shots partially or fully. I had it even after 4, then gave Tszyu 5-7. that had him 3 up, and Ricky won the next four on my card, so only 1 point in it. I guess the roars of the fans influence the judges...

Not a great fight, but a fantastic result for British boxing.

Hats off to Ricky.

Makes you wonder how Eamonn Magee, who is a sharp but not devastating puncher, ever managed to get Hatton in so much trouble. If Hatton could maybe now make his style just a bit slicker, get caught a bit less, then he'd be even more formidable.

Most amusing when Kostya was doing his usual hands down slipping at close range and the crowd in the nose bleed's were going into overdrive since it looked like he was being rocked.

Well this is the question.
I predicted a Zoo KO win, and the fight went pretty much as I (and most of us) expected, except for 1 thing. Hatton walked through Tzu's shots.
Every time I see the replay of Hatton's KD, it make me think he's vaunerable to power, so I'm not sure what happened.
Is Magee that powerful?

i predicted a Tszyu mid round stoppage based on the same theory... If Magee can hurt him then Kosta will hurt him for sure....
Not sure what happened.... a combination of the following i suppose:

1) Ricky not allowing Tszyu to get full pop on his shots
2) Ricky being more mentally prepared to take hard shots (see Danny williams V samil Sam and Tyson)
3) Ricky making the weight much better

I know hwat its like but on this occasion it was ten times worse.

The bars were a free for all 30 odd deep and it took 45 mins to get a beer so i managed to get one round in and fucked it off aftert that.

was a shambles but who cares in the big picture!

Honest countires have beeninvaded with less planning than went into this day out mate. Everythign that wa sin our control went really well, Limo, bitwe to eat though the service was slow, champagne on the way to the arena in the limo, then home by 7 am.

Couple of lads form work went, i offfered to give em a lift back but they had to pay thier way, they chsoe to wait for the trian got home at 2pm.

Id hadf 6 hours kip by then, 3 in the car and 3 on the couch.

we werein the midlde of the lower tier mate straight on to the ring so pretty good for a ton a go, williams foe did look awful the whole undercard was average at very best but it wasnt the undercard we went nearly 300 miles to see so didnt matter in the end i guess.

was shocked by barnes capitulation to be fair, i hope he is ok.

Sweet! The undercard was shitty, I was really concerned that it was going to be a shot night in the main event that would have been ridiculous!

To be honest though much as I'd fancied Tszyu to walk through him my attitude changed a bit watching Hatton's ringwalk and I started to think he had a chance. He looked 100% on the ball never seen him looking like that before. And you could see fear/nerves in his eyes. That's where good fighters use the nerves/fear to their advantage and put in a performance like that.

Other fighters swallow like Golota, Danny Williams etc.
