Surprised by this, so surprised that I cannot see it happening. Hide always giving me the impression that he is very confident about his abilities - moving down to Cruiser because there are some bigish domestic fights doesn't give me the image of person who is confident in his abilities.

The two biggest names on the UK Heavyweight scene (Williams and Harrison) would get him more money than the Cruisers plus if he believes (as he used to) that he has the talent beyond the UK then surely the money is in the world heavyweight scene.

Are you sure Kev? I think there was another misdemeanour since then. He's not been back to the UK since his last arrest warrant was issued I dont think.

That's what I thought. Last thing I remember was he went to court...and then legged it. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he went to Vegas. It could have been cleared up but I'm surprised I missed it.

I know it was around the time of the Jon Thaxton fight so could well have been pushed down the local paper

How good would any of our Crusers do in Hides shoes?

Vitali - all would get ko'd quick just as Hide did
Tucker - Hide ko'd him in 2rounds 8years ago - he was old but no one else did that to him
Fisher - ko'd in 2 and took hoffman 12
Bentt - he beat Tommy Morrison
Chingagu - lost and avenged his defeat

If you look at even who some of the journeymen he ko'd and compare how they did against world class contenders/champs it speaks volumes for his power. His power is world class at HW imagine what he'd do to a Cruser

Herbies 33 and could make a big dent at world level if he gets to his best at Cruser - I dont think he would at HW unless he fought Byrd or Ruiz - I fancy his chances with those 2 because of styles.

You're committing the cardinal sin of allowing yourself to believe in Herbie Hide old son. We've all done it, even Frankie Warren did it to the tune of a lot of money, but by now we should all know better.

Herbie is Nigerian so you have to be fairly skeptical about anything he says. However, should he comeback at cruiserweight, I'll be watching. You're always guaranteed fireworks with The Dancing Destroyer.

The thing is that Hide since his come back hasn't really done anything which leads one to wonder if he is still that good. Would be interesting to see if he can build something from this one though.

lol I know but I am stuck on the fact that he has held the WBO title and been in with top fighters he must have been able to do something... but you are probably right

I'd actually fancy Byrd to stop him, such is the China-Chinedness of Hide

While Hide is obviously as nutty as a fruit bar, if he does somehow make cruiserweight, I think there's no doubt his punching power could do some serious damage.
If he catches either Enzo or Haye on the chin, they'd both be exiting the ring head first I reckon.
But the Herb must avoid being hit back at all costs, even by a jab, because even a glancing jab would probably leave him taking 40 winks these days.
