I didn't. I picked Woods to win it.

That was a cracking body shot, right under the ribs.
I think Cook can go on to win a World Title, I'd pick him against Harrison and Chi.
I also thought Napa had won and Esham Pickering got it right when he said he's like a small James Toney but at a lower level.
Does anyone else here find Nicky Piper the most irratating analyst ever, you can tell he's on the British Boxing Board Of Control he'll never ever criticise a ref or judge and he constantly sits on the fence and is unable to form an opinion for himself.
It might just be me because I didn't like him as a fighter, he was more famous for having an IQ of 160 than he was for his boxing ability, his IQ didn't help him when Benn was smacking all over the place.

What on earth were the commentary team on about when they said that Last bout with lomax and coyle was a great little fight, it was like watching two amorous drunks groping one another. Coyle's condition looked shocking, he looked like he lived on scotch eggs.
I thought Napa won that pretty comfortably, he looked good in there, a shame he has no pop at the weight though.
I don't know about Cook being ready for Harrison or Chi, no offence to Dazzo, but he's hardly world class.
Harrison has looked vulnerable against boxers before, but they were seasoned veterans, not up and comers with flaws
I know Cook is a big featherweight, but he's not as physically strong as Harrison, he may be good enough already to hang with Harrison, but put him in with a seasoned campaigner first, I think it's a big ask to put him in with Harrison right now, although I suppose
His best win to date was over Cyril thomas, who is a big step down from world class.

Cook is class, he is READY for Harrison. I really think he will beat Harrison, a solid body puncher a bit stronger physically than Brodie. He is fresher than Scot and he is a little quicker.
Dazzo Williams might be a level below Harrison, but he is a solid operator - I think Dazzo could fight at European level if a lesser champion was holding that belt.
I wasn't impressed with Cook vs Begue but he had some illness / injuries which postponed that bout a few times. I was impressed with his two big fight wins prior to Begue (Thornhill and Thomas). Perhaps he wasn't motivated vs Begue, but he was razor sharp tonight.
Very impressed.
On the undercard, I seriously hope Johnny Armour retires - his legs have gone I'm afraid. I did agree with the score card here (although we didn't see the 4th).
I don't see Lomax going much further and as I said before, Ian Napa was robbed.

yes, Armour's balance looked shot to shit. The guy he was fighting had absolutely no idea how to throw a straight punch, but he was landing that uppercut on him over and over again.
I had armour losing it based on what we were shown, he didn't do enough to win rounds.

I expected a significant gap in class but Cook absolutely wiped the floor with Williams from start to finish. I'd like to see Nicky in a big fight now although I doubt he could break Harrison down before getting broken down himself. Who knows though, I never realised how big Cook was until last night. He might have the style and strength to do a number on the champion. Like I told everyone around me before the Hatton v Tszyu fight (while picking Kostya all the way) - you never quite know with unbeaten fighters.
Armour didn't look nearly good enough to justify a comeback at his age and after the fights he's had. Imagine how concerned his family must have been about him returning to the ring after 2 years out, aged 36. Shouldn't be happening.

I'm with james on the harrison issue. As poor a 'world champion' Harrison is, he'd beat Cook, he has the ability to walk through guys like that. I hope cookie can prove me wrong though by beating a world ranked name. I don't think he could beat chi either, at least not yet.

Interestingly enough, the way Cook fought last night reminded me of Michael Watson at a similar stage of his career
I think it was the way he used his reach to whip the body shots around the back of the elbows and the way he used the jab to keep Williams off balance
I think he is one fight off a challenge to Harrison.
while SH looked good against a shop warn Brodie, I think he looks pretty worn himself and has a limited shelf life of a style. Cook is on the verge of lower world class and, with one more good win under his belt and one more hard fight for Harrison, I would pick Cook

Cook looked like a millions dollars last night. Didn't put a foot (or punch) wrong.
I rate Dazzo as one of the grittiest performers on the British circuit and for that reason thought he make it a hard fight for at least 8 rounds or so.
But what can you do when you get nailed with a body shot like that? Pure agony
He's practically ready for the best, and despite Harrison's huge strenth Cookie might have a better chance than Brodie. E.G. long hard jab to keep Scott back on his heels and just as good body shots.

Yes, I now give Cook a better chance than Brodie - I didn't realise quite how strong he was, he is definately stronger physically than Brodie and is alot fresher. He is also a damn good body puncher (as he said in the interview) which for me is an advantage when fighting Scott.

Cook's only 25, there's no rush, he needs to beat some seasoned world level contenders first.

i agree with that.
lets not chuck him to the lions just yet, his ime will come reckon another year and he will be primed to have a go at a world champ.

The smart move is to put him against old Harrison opponents such as Chacon and Medina.

Name names, there isn't a depth of talent into the devision - below Harrison there is the likes of Juarez, Gainer, Medina, Polo, Raheem. All arguably better than Scott (with the possible exception of Medina).
I don't know these seasoned world level contendors that Cook can fight that might not give Harrison trouble.... Johnny Tapia perhaps.

youve just done it for me stu
wasnt being that specific i just dont think he is ready to fight Scott just yet, another 6 months to a year then yup.
spend abazzi would be a good match up two unbeaten european feathers.

I really fancy him to beat Harrison now. Harrison has not looked good in a long time, I think those body shots will do him in with his well documented weight troubles.
Will be nice to see Harrison fighting someone approaching his own size for once.
Mightily impressed with Cook.

Also something else. At the start of the show Piper and Dempsey talk about it being rare fighting for all 3 belts, British, Commonwealth and European. Piper says something about spurious world titles and Dempsey then says "we dont talk about those Nicky".
You fornicating idiot Dempsey you talk about them week in week out selling your 'world' title fights on Sky. pudendum.

Yes I was looking through the rankings Stu, and there's not much strengtn in depth in the division, with Barrera, Pacqiauio and Morales all gone, there are no really proven quantities except Marquesz and to an extent Chi. Chacon or Polo might be good tests, but you could argue that Polo is more of a fighter than Harrison based on their fight I guess,

Yes, and Chacon and Medina have both been campaigning alot at Super Feather recently. I'm sure Medina has got a big Super Feather clash (eliminator) coming up.
The only briding fighter (i.e. definately a level below the champions) between Cook and Harrison is Johnny Tapia.

Yes I got the impression that's what he meant. The ridiculous illusion that has hurt boxing for the last 10 odd years may finally be buried. Hurrah!

A good move for cook could be to defend the EBU a couple more times against solid opposition and/or do what used to happen and beat a top ten rated opponent, then make his move for the World title. Harrison would fine too in my opinion because to my eyes he's clearly a notch below the elite feathers (Chi, Marquez, Pacman).
As J says, no desperate rush but the Iron is getting hot.

Went on fightnews to check who is ahead of Cook in the governing bodies' rankings. It is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING that a Polo, who drew with Harrison who should be ordered into a rematch is now no longer in the WBO top 15. Absolute b/s.

You just named them didn't you? I don't think any of the names you mentioned are titlists.
