To be honest, I've never thought he was all that bad.

One thing is for sure, Brady can't stand Mayweather Jr. He's said some ridiculous stuff about him in the past.

With Brady it's all - the crowd just screamed / his jab was like a harpoon / he fell like a drunken sailor - or if it's a Mexican fighter getting hurt, Brady will describe him as looking like he'd put away a bottle of tequila.

It's very easy to fall into the same cliches when you're churning pieces out. Most writers have their favourite sayings.

Welcome to the forum to Carlos and Reidy, hope to see you involved in the future here. However, I do appreciate that sometimes it feels like a waste of time posting on lots of forums and you just feel like you are just repeating what you have said on another forum. That is why I stick to 3 boxing forums (one of which I very rarely discuss boxing and the other I use as it is a good global community, which is rare).

So no qualms from me if you don't post here again, but it would be a nice bonus.

The funny thing is the most knowledgable poster I have come across by far doesn't post on either site.

I used to post on the secondsout.com forum.

There was a couple of guys on there who really knew there stuff as well.

Not true - for example BN got rid of one of the best, Houston, and replaced him with one of the worst - Jim Brady.
I still can't work out why they have that deadwood writing for them - the guy is truly terrible.

Just because you have'nt written for these two - BM and BN - means bugger all - just take a look at the best boxing journo of the last 50 years - Hugh McIlvanney.

Houston writing for boxing news, now we must be talking about 15 years ago easily, do you think the quality of the magazine has gone down the slope since the departure of Houston? Personally I don't think it has and if it has slipped a little it has only been recently.

Brady isn't fantastic, from what I know about him he is a self taught writer
amd journalist. He isn't writing Shakespeare but I respect him because it is a hard business to get a toehold into, and he has done it on limited skill.

Personally I don't like McIllevaney. He let his own predujices get in the way of his writing. Wasn't objective enough for me, I suppose it is all down to personal taste and opinion but when the best writer of our sport writes for the sport newspaper, we are in trouble!

Oh and another thing, my favourite writers, the americans who wrote for the ring, Bert Randolph Sugar, Nigel Collins and Jeff Ryan were brilliant
Ryan being my favourite. The British writer I liked was Frankie Taylor, the former world ranked featherweight who wrote for the Sunday people but I'm probably showing my age there

Jin Brady strikes me as a bitter twisted bigot. I hate his fight reports.

He needs a good kick.

Mcilvanney is the best at making you feel as if you are actually in the ring - he is the Master.

Well I think any boxing paper that loses Houston is bound to suffer. He fell out with old mate Harry Mullan, when BM started to use his stuff, and Harry fired him.
Then old Harry was "let go" in shoddy style by BN a few years later, when he was sick with cancer - he died a few months later.
Harry was another great writer and is sorely missed at BN. Abrams doesn't hold a candle to him.
So looking back to the early 80's - BN had Houston, Mullan plus the brilliant Tim Mo ( now a millionare novelist ) - you can't beat an A team line up like that really.
Still, saying that, BN is still quality, and so is BM for that matter.
Yes Ryan was a v good writer over at KO.

Another thing that annoys me about Brady is he obviously never actualy goes to the fights, just covers them from his armchair - but tries to give the impression he's acutaly there ( the crowd just screamed etc )

And yes - DG - I reckon he's a racist bigot too, epsecialy when it comes to Mexicans. Typical American red neck I think.

Why BN use him is beyond me - he is a c-nt!

For me, Claude Abrams is the best in the business.
