I would have paid top $$$ to see a tournament type between Jesus "little Poison" Pimentel vs. Ricardo "Pajarito" Moreno. no matter how short the fight would be. with the winner taking on Zamora vs. Jaime Garza (started his career at bantam) Winner. 4 devastating punchers with frail chins.....Im salivating just thinking how great and short a night It would be.

naz was only there for a while but we know he would have knocked them all out when he was a bantamweight. he was lethal.

"we" don't know that at all. Hamed spent two yrs avoiding Juan Manuel Marquez,I hardly think he'd jump at the chance to face Zarate or Olivares.

Jeses Pimentel may have been a world champion if he would have fought Harada when the offer was on the table, but he was just too old for the young Olivares. I don't recall if anyone has mentioned him yet, but Jose Medel was another great from that period.

Hey barry, right on point. How about contender Billy Peackock??? he gave champion Joe Becerra a devastating KO in a non-title affair.

other bantamweights to mention: Miguel "Happy" Lora, Wilfredo Vasquez, Harold Dade, and Chucho Castillo

Does anybody has the tape of Lora-Vazquez or Olivares-Chucho Castillo slugfests in Spanish???

I think Harada should be rated more as he beat Jofre twice and this was a younger Jofre who was destined to come back and win another world title in his late 30s... Harada was just too busy for him and I'd put Harada definately in the all time Bantam top ten.

I dont know if he was an all time great, but K.O. artist Alfonso Zamora was fun to watch.

I think he was. Phenominal KO record, including a blowout over the great Eusebio Pedroza(how many can claim that??). If there had been no Zarate who would have beaten him?

Whys Harada always rated below Jofre?.... Harada beat him clearly twice when Jofre was at his peak... Harada also should have been a 3 weight world champion but was robbed in his first fight with Johnny Famechon...

I agree and the Zarate - Zamora fight was a huge fight. The fans were excited about this smaller weight battle.

An Olivares/Zamora match would have been an incredible match. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a Zamora victory, though I favor Reuben.

Id have to go with Olivares too. He may have been to much for Zamora. Im thinking back now and remembering an absolute bloodbath Bantamweight fight. Albert Davila - Frankie Duarte. What a war. Did you see this fight Nero? Anyone else?

Well, Jofre at his best at 118 was simply better than Harada at his best at 118. Harada is/was a very underrated fighter with a lot of speed and fluid combinations, but Jofre was past his prime at 118 when they fought. Also, Harada only spent four years at 118, and only made four defenses. Jofre had an excellent bantamweight career lasting almost a decade.

Some people who haven't seen the two fight base Jofre's ranking on the possiblity that he got jobbed in Japan against Harada in one or both of their fights. That simply isn't true. The right man won. Jofre's better because... shit, he was incredible! I mean, imagine Sugar Ray Robinson with Jake LaMotta's chin. I'd have very little problem with anyone ranking him as the greatest fighter of all time. The main reason I don't is that I simply don't know enough about the bantamweights of the 1960s to really say that he's the man.
The fact that Jofre carried on for so long tells me that he wasn't past it when he fought Harada... Harada just had the style and strength to beat Jofre... I have both fights and Harada wins them both clearly... Haradas main weakness was that he blew up between fights and this is one of the reasons why he moved up in weight... having said that though being a 3 weight champion like he should have been Harada should be much higher in the p4p lists than he is...
