Witter is calling out Hatton because that's where the money is.
If Hatton fights Mayweather they will fill 20,000 seats
If Hatton fights Witter, they will fill 20,000 seats
If Witter fights Mayweather, they can have it in my downstairs lav and I will bung some screens up so they don't feel agrophobic

Hatton could fill the MEN Arena if it was announced he would be wrestling with a deckchair.
Witter could fight King Kong and it wouldn't draw a crowd.
This may well change after some exposure on Golden Boy cards, but Witter needs a big impressive performance. If he does a real job on Kotelnik people might notice, but Witter has an uphill struggle.
Let's not forget, he was being roundly booed over the latter half of the N'dou fight, for whatever reason, he just doesn't endear himself to crowds.

I don't see why Witter is so hated on here all of a sudden. Is it that people want to shout the virtues of Ricky and foget that Hatton has blatantly ducked every slickster hes had a chance to fight (Witter, Mayweather, Mitchell, Corley).
Witter will fight anyone meanwhile Team Hatton have ruled out Mayweather/Cotto/Witter out of this years plans and want Cotto and NOT MAYWEATHER for 2006 - Hatton won't fight his 2 biggest threats at 140lbs on Witter and Mayweather because he knows he'll get embarased by both.
I don't think Witter would beat Zoo in 5 (although theres always the chance), I'm not at all sure how I'd see that 1 going, would be fireworks though. Witter would beat Hatton though and Hatton knows it.

With regards to the whole Golden Boy deal: Am I the only person who thinks it might be a massive bust? Some people seem to be assuming that Witter is now on the road to instant stardom and vast riches just by signing with De La Hoya.
I'll believe it when it produces something. Wasn't signing with Don King meant to launch Eastman into the stratosphere?

My take on this matter is that
- allegedly kept Hatton way from Witter. Not Hatton.
-Hatton's performance and result against Kostya was a proud night for British boxing. Let's not try to diminish Hatton's fantastic night.
-Junior did himself no favours with his pathetic attempt at winning the IBF title against Judah.
-Witter is now peforming very well and holds meaningful belts. If he keeps winning he will get his chance at the genuine world title again. But maybe not against Ricky.

Anyone know if search has ever posted at the same time as Lirva? They sound remarkably similar. Maybe this is Lirva's new identity since losing the Hatton bet.

Yeah, that's the way I see it. I'm in the minority of boxing fans who can't stand trash talk. Nevertheless, I recognize it's potential to sell fighters/fights.
I never judge a fighter's character by the smalk they talk, unless it is prolonged and seems to show that they may actually be a nasty character 'in reality'. Thankfully, very, very few names spring to mind, though unfortunately one of them is British.
I've liked watching Hatton more than Witter from the start - purely because of their styles. I don't like the Ingle style at all, but have some respect for it. The winner of a Hatton - Witter fight has changed back and forth multiple times in my mind over the years; I think there's a good chance it would be an interesting, competitive fight.
Whatever titles are at stake if they ever do fight (which I think they won't), to me it will also be a belated British title fight.

Although as manos points out there is little chance of Hatton ever fighting Witter I think it would be an interesting fight. Witter brings to the table great power and slick counter punching but has never faced an opponent as in your face as Hatton. I actually think Hatton would edge this one on points, mostly down to sheer workrate, after having to endure a couple of rocky moments.

You're not the first to wonder that. I won't speculate on the fact that Lirva hasn't been seen since a few days before the Tszyu-Hatton press conference, and that Search only registered here a week after the fight, and, indeed, only shows up to laud Witter/discredit Hatton.
I hope Witter and Hatton get it on. But Witter really is going the wrong way about it. Hatton has never felt the need to Bad-mouth anyone, so I can't see him being impressed with trash-talk. I think Witter would be better off earning Hatton's respect, rather than trying to goad him into the ring. It didn't work when Hatton was the WBU champ, how's it going to work when he's the division's number 1, with all the options that brings?

I can assure you I am not this "Lirva" character. However, I am a gambling man, I would bet on Witter to KO Hatton.
There's some kind of irony in this post, I tells ya.
I wonder if 'Don't Call It A Comeback' fancies a monkey on the outcome........

Witter couldnt fill a phone booth, that's why he smack talks about Hatton all the time.
It's the only decent payday out there for him.
If he hadn't run away from Pinto, and then left SN he would have had his fight with Hatton by now.
Witter only has to look in the mirror to find blame for his predicament.
Oh and regards N'dou?
He lost 7 fights before taking the Hitter the distance, and has a very inflated record of D-Grade opposition - Beating him is nothing to swing from the rafters about.
btw, my bet is that Witter lose's within 12 months. ;)

Isn't Witter the Mandatry for Mayweather's Wbc title now though because that N'dou bout was an eliminator?

You'd hope/think so. Although it could just be 'an' eliminator. Last rankings Branco was still ahead of him

Shouldn't eliminators put you past guys like Branco though who hasn't had an eliminator yet though?

Branco must have some very compromising photos of Jose Suliman. That's the only explanation I can come up with for his continued presence at the top of the WBC rankings.

In my opinion its not cobblers. Witter would have put that Tszyu into a stretcher after 5 rounds maximum. Witter has taken big shots from Zab Judah and Ndou and he hasn't been KO'd.
Watch the Hatton Tszyu fight without British spectacles. GO to an american chatboard and ask them about it, a respected board like fightbeat.com. Hatton fouled his way to the victory end of.
He has been scared of the fearsome Witter for years. How can you pussy out of a contest with a man who publically humiliated you?
haha, hatton showed his true colours fighting the smiths and rios instead of Witter.
You're insane......
Witter took very few shots from N'dou, who for your information isn't a big puncher, who the fornicate has he stopped at 140, even at 135 he wasn't a big puncher, so again you're talking shit.
Witter also didn't take many shots from Judah, as he fought in retreat all night rather than get engaged.
Sure, Hatton is so scared he went and fought a top 5 P4P fighter. Now that Hatton won, everyone is saying he's shot, but prior to that everyone was saying he would annihilate Hatton, amazing how everyone wants to have it both ways.
I've never even heard of fightbeat, so I will have to take your word for it being respected. However, I speak to American boxing Journalists regularly, including Michael Katz, Thomas Gerbasi, Jason Probst, Doug Fischer at maxboxing and a number of others around the world, and not one of them thought Hatton fouled his way to victory, not did they think that Hatton only won because Tszyu was shot, and I respect their opinion a lot more than yours because they actually know what they are talking about.
N'dou is a tough durable fighter, but he is not a world class fighter, he loses every time he faces off against a world class opponent, the only fight against a top fighter he threatended to win was against Sharmba Mitchell.
Witteer was banged cleanly on the chin by Judah and Ndou so I would advise you to watch fights before you comment. Hatton is scared of Witter because of Witters style and power.
Michael katz is a joke. He slated Tszyu after the fight for quitting so don't even mention him. I talk to people who have followed boxing all their lives and have been on boxing message boards since they were created and they agree that Hatton would have been Dq'd in an american ring if he did that stuff. Nevermind his nodding to the referee blatantly in round 5 and 9 if I'm not mistaken.
well some people had Ndou beating Mitchell including Barry McGuigan. He is much better than anyone on Hattons record bar Tszyu (although Tszyu had 3 rounds in 2 years and was coming off a career threatning injury at the age of 36), and don't even mention Ben "The Punchbag" Tackie.
You mention Witters power as if he is Sonny Liston
What world class fighter has Witter ever stopped??????????????????????
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Witter looks good bowling over 2nd and 3rd tier guys, but I suspect he will be found wanting when he fights the top guys.

Nothing will work because Hatton is scared to face Witter's style and power. He knows he will get caught at some point. Can he take it? I doubt it.
As far as this Lirva speculation goes, I can assure you I am a new poster. I would ask the mods to check the IP adress of myself and this Lirva character as I am getting numerous PMs about this matter.
You're fornicating delusional, are you telling me you think Witter hits harder than Tszyu?
Hatton took about 20-30 full blooded right hands from Tszyu, and didn't even flinch, I don't see that Witter is some fearsome monster like you say. Sure he can punch, but he hasn't stopped anyone of note in his career.

this is as tedious as witters constant belittling of Hatton.
Needless to say, i dont hate witter, but i do hate the way he goes around mouthing off haivng done nothing to show he would back up his claims in the ring.
and no getitng a close decision over Ndou does not give you the right to claim you would spark Kostya inside 5.
i hope koistya fights witter next.
Cue witter shitting himself and running away for 12 rounds. again.
neve has a man talked so much and done so little.
changed the fornicating record.

Witter probably hopes he gets a fight with KOstya next too, he won't get 1 though. And I can't see him getting a fight with any top10er soon. Hes in a horrible catch 22 - too good to be an easy opponent not well enough known and too dangerous to force a big fight.

i do sympathise but by coming out and still bad mouthing hatton still 3-4 years after all this started he makes himself look extremely bitter and daft.
id love him to get a title and set a unification up, so less of worrying about what ricky has/is doing and more of what Junior is going to do, would endear him so much more to the boxing world.
in short worry bout your own career and the match ups will come.

Nonsense!!! If you start doing that then the better boxers will be higher up the rankings.
These were May rankings, I think, way after the Lovemore fight. On the other hand, Branco has KOd Ariel Francisco Burgos (holder of the Salta's state superfeatherweight title) since then, so Witter really shouldn't expect to have it all his own way.

look mate if you want to have a sneisble discussion then fine. I have no probs with someone not agreeing with me, i dont agree with myself half the time.
if you want to deride genuine world champions by calling them names please go elswhere.
i think ricky deserves some respect for his performance personally.

well thats eveident but if you tried, we could actually have a sensible discussion about the pros and cons withouth anyone get offended upset or anything else, only takes a bit of effort.
you have no respect for hattons "cheating" as you call it, i none for juniors mouthing off.
doesnt mean i dont want to see another british world champ though.
all that happens when you are so vitriollic and condeminig is that you turn people off your man. And i dont think that is your aim here.

Did you think he would pull out of the fight with Kostya?
