Given up on the guy?
Totally. Wish he would simply disappear.

Lolengo Mock would also be interested he has just e-mailed me
Speaking of Mock anyone see this:
http://www.ringtalk.com/2005/07/story-f ... you-to.asp
Here's the bit about Mock:
Take, for example, super middleweight Lolenga "Lumumba Boy" Mock of the Congo, whose record on Box Rec record stands at a respectable 24-9-1, (10 KO's). Mock has also won the vacant WBO Intercontinental super middleweight and the vacant WBA International light heavyweight titles against respectable foes. Judging by his Box Rec record, it would be a safe bet Mock would be competitive against any opponent in the world.
However, according to http://www.FightFax.com, boxing's only official record keeper, Mock's verifiable record is really a dismal 4-12, with get this, just 1 KO! A difference of 17 fights with all of the questionable results being reported out of Africa by his former manager, Henrik Risum, who is a Box Rec editor (although he is not listed as one on the home page, Risum has posted over 1100 results to the site).
Makes for interesting reading.
Does anyone know his record in Fight Fax as I can't even see him in the latest edition?

Calzaghe's popularity has nosedived, he has now been reduced to seeing a boxer having only his second pro fight selling tickets for the show he is headlining - or is he joint headlining with a boxer having only his second pro fight? Either way it is indicative of how his popularity has fallen and even casual observers are now fed up with the constant hype.
Tickets are priced at £35, £50, £75 and £125.
Prices gone up a little then
All fairness to Calzaghe, apart from Hatton what british boxer can get more hype than Amir Khan?
Just hoping for a good undercard...guarantee the Calzaghe and Khan match-ups will be a load of shit
I would like to see Calzaghe fight Froch, its the biggest domestic fight out there.
With boxing being off the TV for so long the general public don`t know who the players are, if they watch Calzaghe and hear he`s the number 1 what will they think
Calzaghe is too old to be built up in this country now, he needs to go to America, and quickly.
He is there for the taking and any decent young fighter with a punch will clock him so he needs to get the money from the more knowledgable American audience before he gets caught out for chump change.
He`d beat Froch now...just...and then Froch could f--K off couldn`t he

Calzaghe has been a champion for almost 8 years, he shouldn't have to rely on Khan selling tickets for his own show, but of course he has to because he has fought so many inferior boxers and has not stepped up to the plate.
I've never liked Froch and even with his skills on the wane IMO Calzaghe will still beat him and easily. And yes, Froch could F*** off then.
However, I fully agree that he is there for the taking, he is not the fighter he once was. Even Salem put him down, is his punch resistance not what it was too? At 33 years of age he should string a few fights together and get out - quickly - or that unbeaten record he so cherishes will be gone.

To be fair, the punch he took of Salem was huge, and he never saw it coming.

Hmm, this undercard has got a lot better since I last looked at it.
The fights involving Gary Lockett, Tony Doherty, Barrie Jones, Darren Morgan and Bradley Pryce are the ones I want to see.
But this is on ITV isn't it? That means there'll just be highlights? Would really like to see Barrie Jones and Tony Doherty in full - two prospects, particularly Jones, who I rate. If he gets the proper backing and works hard he can go far, IMO.
Heavyweight Morgan and Bradley Pryce should be involved in TV friendly rumbles.
And Gary Lockett... well, where's he going?
If it was just this undercard I'd probably skip the main event and start watching from Khan, which is what I'd been doing on Sky not so long ago. But what's betting it will just be Calzaghe/Khan then highlights?

outside bet but i reckon he will end up fighting Brian Magee.
its always happened through JC's career, fight gets cancelled then he fights them after the next fight

Calzaghe? .....zzzzzzz I gave up on him ever entering into an attractive match up 5 fornicating years ago. waste of space....For what it's worth I think he'll fight Maghee.

Yeah he will fight Magee i think as well...but he should be fighting someone like Tsypko, Markussen or Sanavia. Calzaghe dismisses Kessler as a no mark with no credentials so here's a novel idea...FIGHT HIM. KO the "no mark" and pick up his WBA belt en route to beating Lacy and unifying as he assures us he will do. What's the problem?

Kesller would probably beat him.

FightNews are reporting that negotiations with Mundine's people have broken down due to FW wanting options.
Why Mundine? Again they have gone for a fighter who lost his last fight. Why don't they try to get Kessler i.e. the winner not the bloody loser!

Calzaghe

I used to believe that Calzaghe had great potential. As the excuses became more frequent, I found him frustrating and an irritant
Now he is just a plain embarrasment. - The sooner he leaves the sport the better.
It is quite frighting the thought that Amir Khan on the undercard may make a few more of Calzaghe's career defining farces economically viable.

Talks broke down with Mundine as Allegedly wanted options on his next four fights if he beat Calzaghe - what a fornicating joke.
How can he dismiss Kessler as a nobody yet try and fight the guy he has just beaten?
What a total pudendum he is.

He tried to do the same with Veit and fought Salam instead because he was unlucky to lose to Viet in Calzaghe's mind.
Then he fought Veit and proved what we knew all along that Veit was a non entity at world level.
The daft options offered are only going to be accepted by second tier fighters or names in decline.

The 4 options are what FW is demanding Mundine give him should he beat Calzaghe, ie that FW could promote Mundine's next 4 fights. As with most similar arrangements you can bet that it would be 4 fights against SN fighters, so you could pencil in a rematch or two with Calzaghe, the probably Magee, and anyone else SN have kicking around. A joke really when offered to a guy like Mundine who is a media draw himself, probably bigger than Joe.

Oh sorry, I thought it was Mundine was one of four options Warren was considering as an opponent for September.

Nah, Warren wants Mundine's ass signed up for the next 2 years before he can fight Joe. Not much confidence in Calzaghe.

Good point.
Ignore all this 'craving' crap, Calzaghe's career has ALREADY been defined.

Barring moments of mindless optimism I agree, ao if Calzaghe's crappy fights means ITV deals and more Khan fights then so be it. Anyone still hoping for big things for Joe should have a think about those 4 options FW wanted on Anthony Mundine.
