Leonard did that to quite a few fighters in case you hadn't noticed, doesn't mean they were all bums as you so eloquintly put it.
Getting clobbered by an all time great doesn't mean you're not a good fighter.
You've seen Green in ONE fight, one of his last, and you bother coming on here to give us your opinion? Do us all a favour and stick to what you know - which is probably delivering pizzas.

As for the fight - it'd be a barnstormer while it lasted, but Jones had the better chin and the crack of doom in either hand - lights out for the Fen Tiger after giving the Welshman hell for 6 or 7 rounds.

I certainly don't count Green out in this fight which is one of the reasons why its such a interesting matchup. I can see Green taking control early and his higher workrate not allowing Jones to get into the fight... if he could bust up Jones a bit he could well score a stoppage win over Colin in the late rounds... though I see a points win more likely. Really you can make a case for either man winning this, the more I think about it the more indecided I am! ......

Silkov you are right, my mistake. I was thinking of Willie Pep/ Sandy Saddler. I stand corrected.

But Green still was a dead fish. :TU:

Well I'd say that if you mistook Willie Pep for Benny Leonard, your opinion on any boxing matter is as relevant as my 7 year old's. :TU:

Ringsider can you let us have a copy of that Benny Leonard v Sandy saddler tape that you claim to have?
Where I have I said I have a tape of that fight? Can you show me? I said I have seen clips of the fight on the TV.

If you have problems with reading and memory that is OK, but please do not misquote or try to give me credit for things I have never said...... :TU:

Barry I think that the main complaint against "our friend" is that he has absolutley no respect for any fighter as far as is evident in his posts. Everyone is a "bum" "can't fight" "has no right hand, left hook , defence, heart" and such.

I don't agree with all you say and can have a light hearted jab at you (Jones v Hearns thread) but I am sure a lot of posters here like myself find it offensive. I mean surely out of all the guys who climb into a ring, including champions, be they american, european, pacific, african whatever then surely at least one of them must be worth something.

The most frustrating thing is that for all his bulls**t aside and a couple of major cockups it is clear "our friend" as a decent knowledge base of a sport he clearly loves. If it's just controversy he's after then fine we can give him all the sh*t in responce, if not maybe he could show a little respect for the guys who put their lives on the line for his entertainment.

Christ I sound a right pansy there!!

Dave "Boy" Green did KO John Stracey which I consider to be fairly impressive. Still I think Green would do well against Colin Jones for about 5 rounds, then the Welshman's strength and durability would takeover leading to a stoppage around round 9.

Bloody hell!!! I forgot about the threads main point!

On the nail seamus, Green would make a fight of it but once Jones got into his stride you could expect a wicked knockout.

Sorry chaps I will pay attention in future.

Green also beat Andy Price a very useful fighter. At his best Green was a hell of a fighter and it shouldn't be forgotten that against Palomino he was ahead in a great fight and the turning point came when his left eye shut and he couldn't see Palominos right hands coming any more and was koed... I think there is a good chance he could have won on points had the eye not gone.
