Elcock had been offered the when they were both with SN, Lockett was also offered the fight when Elcock was WBU, I know they would both have the fight barring injuries etc. Lockett' knee 1st time, Elcock car crash 2nd time, they are both good fighters so it would be a good fight.

Yes it would have been a good clash, but Elcock moved on, beat Darren Rhodes in very impressive fashion and that presumably got him the mandatory position for the British title.

Assuming Lockett can put the injury hell behind him, he really has to get an eliminator to force a shot at the British title. Not too many middleweights are going to jump in the ring with him, unless Warren stumps up very good money.

Is Lockett back on with Allan Gray in an eliminator?

It says its on, on boxrec but says nothing about the foght on SN's website, all the other fights are listed, i can see Lockett going down the WBU route, which will at least earn him a few quid, i dont think he has fought for 12 months.

Every time I see the heading "Great news for Ryan Rhodes fans" I immediately think its going to say the BBBofC are going to allow him to wear a helmet in the ring.

Of course. From what I have seen trying to make changes to his style has not really helped as he now had his hands up but when he pulls back from being up close he still does it with his chin up and hands down. I guess its instinctive.

Could be some interesting fights for him at British level, not sure if he has enough left to win a title though.

Further to the posts above, Lockett beat Allan Gray on a 2nd round KO. It's down as an eight rounder which is obviously not an eliminator, so I don't know if that pushes him much close to a British title shot. It's a good win whatever.

Supposedly Lockett v Rhodes is in the pipeline for the WBU title. Lockett will spark him out.

ryan was onces a prospect albeit along time ago in the naz error,what went wrong with the spice boy.Remember the fight he had with otis grant spice boy put in a good performance,then it went down hill ,a couple of early kos.will find it hard to win a british title,is best days are long gone the reflexes are gone the speed as gone,the punche risistants as gone.

If Lockett-Rhodes is made, you'd have to think it's only a matter of time before Lockett lowers the boom on Ryan.

Shame if it is for the WBU becuase that will push Lockett-Dann even further apart and I really wanted to see those two wage war. Should Dann come through against Elcock on Friday I wonder if team Dann might turn their attention to the EBU title. With Sky backing and their new stance on proper titles, it must feasible. Ofcourse, Elock might have other ideas!!!

Lockett ko ing Gray is a great result, the guy punches like a fuckin mule, at least if he goes for the WBU title he will earn a few quid, he's not been that active for two years, and he's not getting any younger, whats ITVs stance on the title thing, are they happy staging fights for lesser belts or not.

That is a class card, can we continue the night of class by having Katherine Jenkins as opposed to Ms Church singing the anthem.

I think the card is achievable, sellable.

If the dates dont work what about having it the night before England V Wales in the Six Nations - and cash in on all the drunken rugby fans in need of entertainment the night before the rugga.

Speaking to Gary, he reckons the Rhodes fight is likely to be in November for a WBU, and he is trying to get on the Jennins v Pryce bill in October to keep busy, but we'll see how it goes. I agree with Butch, it will be a shame if we doesn't get to see him and Dann go at it. Dann is a bit chinny so I fancy Gary would smash him.

Great cross roads fight if it comes off - but if he's facing Lockett, this thread should be titled "Bad news for Ryan Rhodes fans"

Also surely the british title a better bet than the wbu strap. Which most of the time the fighters go nowhere by having this

Yep, real shame. The likes of Lockett and Richard Williams are wasting their time and talents with Warren and Hearn. Richard should have moved over to Hennessy long ago, then he probably wouldn't have to be moaning about not getting a shot at the British title. Same applies to Lockett.

Look at Elcock, moved to Dave Bradley, and a few fights later has landed a British title crack.

Maybe I stand corrected on the Elcock point. I know Chris Sanigar outbidded Matchroom for Dann-Elcock, but Elcock had been boxing on Dave Bradley's shows I thought. That seemed to be the driving factor. He was with Sportsnetwork prior to that and didn't seem anywhere near a British title shot.

Again, Lockett doesn't seem to working his way towards a British title shot. Why wasn't Lockett-Gray an eliminator? It's a bit late to pushing for mandatory position when Dann can effectivley vacate if he beats Elcock with the Londsdale his own property.

Lockett v Gray was on as an elminator a while back but Lockett got injured. In the interim the board decided Gray had been inactive too long to fight an eliminator and as such it lost its status.
