At least Jones has always kept himself in shape, and to me didn't look that slow against Johnson, just weak. But then he gets flattened by a guy who barely even floors anyone with a single shot nevermind knocks them out. That's the biggest cause for concern.

I really want Roy to finish his career on something of a high, with some respect even from the worthless pieces of shit that put him down now. Christ after all the years of graft he's put in to get to his level in boxing he bloody deserves that at least.

Sure, RJJ should have had plenty of time to train, but one wonders if the accumulated ring rust will be too much added to age and the permanent damage of yo yo weight loss

I know that when SRL prepared for Hagler he had some gym wars with some top fighters in preparation. Do we know anything about RJJ's prep for this fight?

People seem to be forgetting that Tarver, coming off a good win, will be up for this fight too.

IMHO, Tarver is 2-0. I had him winning the first fight whatever the scorecard says

Roy certainly deserves respect for taking on Tarver. He could probably have gotten a shot at a title belt rather than face Tarver again, and after being knocked out by him, I think it takes a lot of guts to go in there again.

Is jones really shot? He was in great shape in the tarver rematch, and looked pretty much his old self untill Tarver landed the (one punch) KO. Thats all it was.

Then against Johnson he was completely undertrained, and looked disinterested from the start, and couple that with the fact that Jonhson was hungry as hell and on top of him every second of every round, it was a recipe for diaster.

If jones takes Tarver as seriously as he did last time I have no doubt he can pull off the win this time. Tarver is beatable and in no way is this a foregone conclusion.

I think Roy has learnt his lesson, and truly wants this fight for his legacy's sake. Tarver may come in overconfident, he may not, but Im sure this wont be a blowout from either end.

Yes it's hard to tell really. With his father back in camp I imagine they're probably going back to the way he used to do things. But as far as I know, they've pretty much kept themselves under wraps - missed a press conf I think.

I've never been a huge fan of Jones, but I'm defintely hoping he pulls it off, for old times sake. Can't warm to Tarver much.

Is SKY showing this fight?

I don't doubt RJJ's guts or pride. I do question his judgement.

I guess we wont know what he has in the tank until the fight.

I am less of a fan of RJJ's than many. Certainly one of the most gifted athletes of his generation, let alone boxer and with some great wins.

I just don't think I am the only one who thinks his choice of opponents was, shall we say, uninspiring.

Sure he can do it.

I don't see him coming back from back to back loses (looking as shot as he did) and a year off in his mid 30's to be the World's best light heavyweight still in his peak (even if he is Jone's age).

I would not bet much on Jones boys.
