By allegedly allegedly, News of the World, Fighting Talk article.

"...Ray, who has done a fantastic job looking after Ricky, claimed his sons agreement with me expired after he beat Kostya Tszyu to win the IBF light-welterweight title in June.
But in November of last year, before Ricky fought Ray Oliveria in December, I sent Ray Hatton a recorded delivery letter.
That confirmed talks we'd had and said I would proceed with the Oliveria bout only if Ricky extended his deal with me for a further four fights.
During the course of these discussions Ray said; "we are not going anywhere."
When Ricky signed a bout agreement for Oliveria, one of the clauses was that he agreed with the terms of the November letter.
In the radio interview, Ray claimed he tore up the letter and threw it in the bin when he received it- and did not even tell Ricky of its contents"

allegedly allegedly has virtually a full page for his Fighting Talk article in todays News of the World and I recommend buying it for the full article. The couple of paragraphs quoted above certainly suggest a court appearence if agreement can't be reached.
Ummmm a tricky 1, Frank may have a point. If Ricky didn't see the letter is the clause binding? Can Frank prove the contents of the letter - it may have said nothing of 4 more fights and photocopies of a letter don't prove what was in the original letter. All Frank has proof of is he sent a letter not what is in the actual letter imo.

it's a very underhand way of dealing with things though isn't it..if ray hatton said they were'nt going anywhere allegedly should have had the contract drawn up there and then for ricky to sign..why do it anyother way??? if he'd gone to the trouble of writing a letter and record deliver it??why not just send him a contract!!

Its supposed to be an underhand backup plan. Plan A Ricky re-signs. If he doesn't he signed to fight Olivera, where theres a clause for 4 more fights. It may or maynot be legally binding

Now that Hatton's champ there's big fights that could happen in or around 140 in the near future with Corrales, Mayweather, Harris, Cotto, Judah, Tszyu again (possible), Spinks, Forrest, Mosley (also possible), which won't happen in the MEN, where Warren has ties to put on x number of shows and needs Hatton to sell it out, tying Hatton to it too.
Warren could promote Hatton in the US though, he did it with Naz Vs Kelly.
Could, wouldn't/won't

Most amazing thing in that 'Frankly Speaking' article was the fact that Hatton was paid £705,000 for the Vilches fight. I figured Ricky was being paid well, but I didn't think he was getting that much.

Why do people keep writing allegedly. It was funny for a while but get over it PLEASE!!!!

How can Warren and Ricky work together now even if a court says so? Or will Warren just get damages if he wins? Or will Ricky get damages?

Can't understand why no contract was actually drawn up for those fights. Maybe it was a trust thing. :box:

It automatically comes up next to Warren's name to stop us all saying things we might regret later. Read the small print :TU:

I agree, it all got a bit boring and predictable after about a day.

And that is a shocking amount to be getting for such a low-risk fight! Did Warren mention if that figure included the money he got from the gate and Sky TV?

I hope at the end of the day it can all be sorted out and dosn't affect Hatton's career, Tszyu went through the same thing with Bill Morday and the distraction led to his first loss with Phillips.

Just goes to show how Warren does buisness, and also how at that level you let a good lawyer , not your dad read EVERYTHING.hOPE kHAN IS WATCHING AND LEARNING.

Still some good may come of it, for instance it could put a mega fight on hold, then go to court, then a half decent judge finds its all been done under handed , then he awards damages to Hatton , then Allededly hands over millions,
Be a shame for him cos he sounds like such a nice guy.

First, they signed a bout agreement. For one fight in Nov 2004. If the letter wasnt defined in the agreement as a rider, and attached to the agreement it is not binding in any way shape or form.

The letter Warren is referring to seems to have been produced, after the agreement was signed. Again this is not legally binding.

Warren has no chance. He bluffing.

what should we expect now then? Warren to mysteriously and quietly drop the threats and reveal that 'The relationship wasn't working any more, so I had to let him go'?

I think we'll see him let go at the 11th hour.
