In terms of skill, Skelton's bottom, despite acjieving a huge amount considering his age, lack of ability and experience. In terms of potential I'd say Audley is top despite his age - as you say, a win against McCline and he's there - certainly he's the most marketable. William's maybe achieved the most just about, but can he add anything to that after recent events? Sprott is the real dark horse. I really bloody hope he can beat Vidoz. Then a EBU defence or two - we could have a Harrison Sprott eliminator for the WBC #1 spotBubiScholz wrote:"Britains two best Heavyweights"![]()
One serious fight from Audley Harrison and a win from Sprott on Saturday and two nice defences and things could turn round fast......![]()
IMO these 4 guys have almost the same level actually, maybe Skelton a little ahead.

Skelton rejects claims he has agreed to Williams fight
EXCLUSIVE by Mike Simmonds
BEDFORD heavyweight champion Matt Skelton yesterday vehemently denied reports that he is set to fight Danny Williams in London on December 3.
News broke yesterday (Thursday) on allegedly's official website that Skelton had agreed terms to box Williams, despite the Brixton Bomber pulling out of their original bout in July.
The decision seemed strange because earlier in the week Williams was up before the British Boxing Board of Control after his no-show against Skelton.
He was fined £2,000 for "unprofessional conduct" and told he would not be allowed a shot at the British heavyweight title for six months.
Despite the hearing, Warren insisted that the fight would go ahead with or without Skelton's title at stake, claiming: "The Commonwealth Council are an independent body from the Board and therefore the ban imposed on Williams fighting for the British title should not affect this in any way.
"But it would be a shame if the two best heavyweights in Britain were to meet without the British title on the line.
"We are keeping our fingers crossed that Danny's appeal is successful and that the prestigious Lonsdale belt will be on the line."
Unsurprisingly, Williams is desperate for another chance, as he said: "Many people said that I was a coward after I withdrew from my fight against Skelton but I believe I was right under the circumstances to do so.
"And now I will prove once and for all that Danny Williams is certainly no coward and is in no way afraid of a novice bar-brawler like Skelton.
"I promise I will be in that ring on December 3 and will destroy him and prove to everyone that I am the best in Britain."
But this came as news to Skelton, as he revealed to the Times & Citizen that he had not agreed to a fight, and had no intention of doing so.
"I must admit it came as a complete surprise to me because I have heard nothing about this, signed nothing about this and some of my management team are still on holiday!
"Sometimes a promoter will announce a fight first and then approach the fighters afterwards.
"Often the boxers feel pressurised into accepting but not me.
"I have no interest in fighting Danny Williams and it is not the route my managers have advised me to go down.
"I want to further my career right now and I do not think that will happen by fighting Danny.
"When he lost to Vitali Klitschko he needed a way back onto the scene and could have had one, if he fought me.
"But he pulled out at the last moment and that was his decision.
"If he had beaten Vitali then I doubt he would have offered me a shot so I do not see why I should bend over backwards to accomodate him.
"My view is that Danny has been hurt by the criticism he got for not showing up and is now calling me to fight, which he is more than entitled to do.
"He has been known to pull out of fights before, as he did against a German fighter, so who says he will not do it again.
"It did not get too much media publicity but the people in the boxing community knew about it.
"The chance to fight him has gone so I will continue training and wait for my next bout."
Might not have faced the biggest names - and I didn't say he was world class in any other aspect. But he has KO'd some pretty durable fighters.nickd wrote:Nothing about Williams is world class, what has Williams done to prove he is a world class puncher?stujones wrote:Delighted, Williams - for all his rightful criticisms is a WORLD CLASS (with the crop of heavyweights) puncher. If Skelton can take Williams' shots he has the stamina and determination to be a player.
Rakto Draskovic went the distance with Harrison and Samil San. Danny KO'd him in a round.
I know you can argue Tyson was shot to Shit vs Williams, still did the job four rounds quicker than Lewis did. I'm not saying Danny hits harder than Williams - but no-one (still) has beaten Tyson in a fight he was winning at the time of the stoppage. Danny hurt Tyson, and Tyson didn't want to take any more. As James has said in a different thread, Mike Tyson was a completely different fighter than the one who fought McBride.
Michael Murray was a fairly durable fighter - going the distance with the likes of Kransiqi, Sprott, Welch, Potter, Ellis, Hoffman. Derick Williams, Julius Francis,
Danny flatterned him in 1 and also in 6. He extended Herbie Hide, John Ruiz, and Zelko Mavrovic futher than Danny.
The guy has 28 KO's in 33 wins - thats not a bad KO percentage. Thats a better KO record than Rahman. His actual KO rate vs durable fighters (and I'm counting Lewis as durable) is rather poor but is generally regarded as one of the hardest punchers in the devision. I don't know if he hits harder than Williams, but is more skillful and has a better psyche.
He has power but I would not say world class power until he has knocked out a world class boxer. Tyson 2004 was not world class I dont care what anyone says to the contrary!stujones wrote:Might not have faced the biggest names - and I didn't say he was world class in any other aspect. I disagree there, if someone doesn't have the skills to land the shots or the chin to take the opponents shots at world class it doesn't mean he doesn't have world class power.
Ensley Bingham hit like a cruiserweight but he never floored a world class fighter.
Wayne Alexander is another - if he lands the fighter will go no matter who he is - but he has yet to win in world class.
Herbie Hide was a fringe world class when he got floored by Joseph Chingangu - does that mean he has world class power?
Darvyrll Williamson floored Wladimir Klitchsko - does he have world class power? Ross Purity KO'd Klitchsko, does he have world class power?
Also, whilst you have argued against it - I still maintain that the "robbery" he recieved vs Brewester is a sign that Meehan is world class.
Also on Tyson, it again depends on your defination of world class. Sure he was shot to shit but look at the wins he had in recent fight - He beat Golota, Neilson, - lost to Lewis, and beat Etteine. Etteine was top 20 at the time of the Tyson fight, so where does that leave Mike? Even the most harshest of critic had to have him in or close to the top ten prior to the Williams fight.

Have you seen the Brewster v Meehan fight? I suggest you download it and have a look. I doubt Brewster trained more than a couple of days for that fight he was woefully out of shape, worse than he normally is. It was a terrible performance by Brewster, especially looking at what he has done since - he's got the best form line of any of the big guys at the moment!Max Molyneux wrote:If Meehan was really shit though then why did he get robbed against Brewster and Rahman needed 4 rounds to do it.![]()
Meehan is not world class, not now not ever.
The answer to that question is 'not very'. Although he likes to make excuses, his TKO defeat to the limited Samil Sam is about how good he is. And we've seen Sam's shortcomings at less than top level.Manos de Oro wrote:Like that haunting whiff of manure that creeps into your car when driving past a field, the question "just how good is Danny Williams?" will forever haunt the board. Danny said this about his weight last time.
In July, he had shockingly weighed in well over 20 stone, but admitted that he had attached weights to his legs.
"I expect my weight to be around 18.5st," he said.
"I was just playing games last time. I strapped weights to my legs underneath my tracksuit. This time I'll wear shorts so everyone can see."

Williams had his chance and didn't take it. In the process he wasted a lot of Skelton's time which at his age, is not good.
Why would Skelton want to prepare for Williams for a second time knowing that he may not turn up again? We'd all love to see this one but it may not happen unless Skelton gets vey well paid.

I would expect Skelton to get a better payday this time, as i can't see Warren offering Williams the same money as the last fight,Ding_Ding wrote:Williams had his chance and didn't take it. In the process he wasted a lot of Skelton's time which at his age, is not good.

I'm not sure if I am buying that, if he was in bad shape that would explain the last minute pullout there is no way he could have had flu the doctor would definitely have noticed when he checked him over. It will be interesting to see what weight he comes in at. The weights on legs thing could just be another one of his many excuses.topper123 wrote:Danny said this about his weight last time.

At the moment but when he did fight him he should of owned him. Sam's is awful and was being outjabbed by Okhello.nickd wrote:If they fought again Sam would win.Max Molyneux wrote:Damn he should of owned Samil Sam though.
Maybe Audley should call out Samil Sam and give him a beating.

No way, a few people thought Williams would beat Sam beforehand but Sam turned out to be better than a lot of people thought. Whatever you think about him he is better than Williams and would beat him every time its not like it was a close decision loss or something he got an absolute hiding. I don't think anyone thought Williams was going to own him, for those in the know it was a tossup pretty much at the time.Max Molyneux wrote:At the moment but when he did fight him he should of owned him. As for the weights thing who knows, his whole behaviour before that fight was worrying to say the least. He obviously wasn't right in the head at the time, when the rescheduled fight approaches who knows what will happen!

williams can be easily discouraged and skelton has the style to put him on the defensive.Max Molyneux wrote:Skelton's chin needs testing and Krence could of won if he didn't lack power.
Skelton's still fighting like he's in the K-1 and is terrible. Williams to win.
skelton did look terrible in that big bad bob fight though didn't he.
