I'm not saying Hobbo isn't ill, I just wonder why Shingles seems to affect so Many British fighters. No I cannot remember names, but there's been a few claims of shingles in recent years.

How many sporting contests generally in this country fall through at the last knockings due to flu/injury/shingles/bilharzia/beri-beri/amoebic dysentry/elephantitis/dengue fever/uncletomcobbleyandallitis?

It just seems to me that in this country there are a disproportionate number of contests which are called off at the last moment, who could forget last year, surely the annus horribilis for contests falling through.

Agreed. Don't know why - are some boxers on salaried contracts?

Or do we just breed lots of big fish who realise that they're in a little pond and get quite nervous?

All I know is that I keep myself reasonably fit, drink plenty of booze, don't get enough sleep, have a wife who's a schoolteacher and forever exposed to germs, and I've not had a day off sick in five years.

Haye sounds like a bit of a tool though, talking about DJ’ing in Cyprus and Miami, when he should perhaps otherwise be training hard for what it obviously a dangerous sport. Gives an indication of his commitment if you ask me.

I think Haye will prove to be a wasted talent for this reason. He’s got the tools, but would rather be mincing about with Jodie Marsh types, and featuring in the tabloids……

Why anyone would want to mince about with Jodi Marsh is beyond me, she looks like the fornicating child catcher from chitty chitty bang bang.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of shape Haye is in if he does fight next week.

I daresay the whole thing will be off now, Haye has Gurov next month to prepare for so he wont care. Or they could bring some over the hill Light heavyweight over for him to blow away in double quicktime.

Haye/Rasani II anyone?

Seriously though, Haye's attitude isn't great but it was obvious they wanted to drum up a bit of publicity for the fight. I don't think Haye would say all that shit otherwise, what's the point? He's a good guy and he's been respectful up to now.

I hope he sorts his shit out though because on form he can be a big talent.

Your not a fighter though, you'd get sick doing that if you were preparingfor a fight.

That's the point. I do give my body some hammer and I do train hard 5, 6 days a week. When I was boxing I wasn't boozing (and didn't have a wife - why do those two go together...) but likewise I didn't get sick then either.

Sneezing five weeks before a fight is not 'flu'.

Haye: "I knew it would be an easy fight. Hopefully we can now get in a tougher opponent."

Expect some cab driver we've never heard of to get the call....

This show wont happen - Haye will not fight and has never had an intention of doing so, all the posturing about Swaby etc. is just .... posturing so that tom. or Fri the promoters can say no suitable apponent could be found. Sky have already stated that it is Hobson/Haye or nothing.
