Part of an answer from Sauerland about Harrison calling out Vidoz:
"But if Audley really wants to fight for the European Championship he can do so, once Koc becomes Champion. I am sure he remembers Koc well, it is the same Koc that beat him twice (Belgium and Turkey) before the Sydney Olympics in 2000."
I hope they don't screw him around Koc wouldn't offer an interesting fight imho

Yes, plus the fact he's lost to Sprott, who's just lost to Vidoz. Nothing against Koc, I just think it's too short a time after losing to Sprott

It will be 8 months since after the defeat coem fighttime, and Koc have fourght twice since the Sprott fight.

Fair enough. It's just that, for me, this situation would be like Brewster fighting Lance Whitaker next, albeit Koc-Sprott was closer than Whitaker-Krasniqi

He tries to set himself up a BIG fight he gets slated, he continues to fight the same level of opponent he gets slated.......does anyone see a trend forming

If Audley signs a 3-fight deal with Dan Goossen (rather than the fight by fight contract that he;s on), do you think that these opponents that hes been calling out will suddenly want to fight him?? I can't see it myself

Honest question to the forum, how do you think Audley should go about progressing his career?

The 2 opponents that Koc has fought have both been against nobodies, he shouldn't get a title shot off the back off that IMO. Audleys opponents haven't been world beaters either, but wins over Hersisa, Bonin, Davis and Wiggins should surely have put Audley ahead of Koc

Im sure that if Harrison would sign with Sauerland he would get a shot, worked for Vidoz.

Amen to that brother.

Joe Calzaghe called out Steve Collins, Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, William Joppy, Clinton Woods and serveral others... How many of these has he fought?
Wasn't Calzaghe Collins mandatory and he decided to retire instead?

Vidoz has a 3 fight deal with Sauerland but surely Vidoz can choose who he fights still Freiheit? :-?

Vidoz should be able to choose who he fights and Audley is rated higher than him so a win for Vidoz would get his rating up closer in the WBC anyway.

Audley should start talking with Sauerland then to get a shot.

Good if it happens since it will get Harrison more respect since he'd be fighting for the EBU. :TU:

By fighting instead of talking for a kick off.

By actually getting into serious contract talks instead of whaling away to the press, making press releases that cannot be backed up (I'm not saying its all Audley's fault, but just concentrate on fighting).

In the actual ring, I would like to see him make a gradual (but definate) increase in quality of opponent so that people would say "Audley deserves to fight such and such", the fighters who he has called out will see that he deserves it, the governing bodies will see that he deserves, the promoters will see he deserves it.

Someone like a Lawrence Clay-Bey would be nice for his next fight, ran the WBC #1 contender VERY close and is a well known name.

The reason hes talking is becasue he can't get the fights he wants as he keeps on getting turned down. I think Audley has been making a gradual increase in the quality of opponent and Brock managed to get his fight with McCline by beating Etienne and Smith who are in the same league as Wiggins and Bonin IMO, so Audley is not trying to do the impossible by attempting to line up fights with Briggs/McCline/Barrett etc.

What do you mean by "releasing press releases that cannot be backed up"? When he released the press release that listed all the different fighters who have turned him down a number of the fighters (Brock, Briggs, McCline/Kushner) referred to Audley and his press release and not one of them disagreed with a word that he said

When Aud was fighting Davis and Wiggins there was an uproar on the forums saying that he should step it up and now that he's trying to step it up people are saying "you need to prove yourself first"

I was originally hoping for better, but I now think that Cley-Bey is a good call for his next opponent

Why doesn't Audley call out someone like Terry Smith? I'm sure Smith would take the fight, and he's a legitimate next opponent (I'd say a better step than Wiggins or Robert Davis). If he'd simply stay active over here in the U.S., he'd be more of a draw. He could get on Fox a bit more often and even line up a fight with someone like Billy Zumbrun that could make a co-feature for Fox (which typically doesn't broadcast terribly good fights).

He almost fought Smith last time out, but for some reason it fell through and Wiggins stepped in, but I agree he would be a decent "keep active" opponent if he can't get the fighters he wants, in the same way that Whittaker, Cley-Bey, Guinn and Donald would be

Forget Guinn he is 1-3-1 in his last 5. What about Lyakhovich? He's highly rated and hasn't fought in a while.

Yeah I'd put him in the same reserve bag as Cley-Bey etc

Basically, there are a lot of guys in this area he could fight that would give him some decent tests. Guys like Clay-Bey, Ahunanya, or Elicier Castillo could easily make for televised fights with decent paydays, while Zumbrun, Robert Hawkins, or Zuri Lawrence could test him in non-televised bouts (or televised co-features on low-scale boxing). Hell, he could get some fights on the Ballroom Boxing series if he really wanted them. He just needs to get active.

Hes fought twice in the last 4 months and should get another in before the end of the year, so that will be 3 fights in 6 months which is decent IMO

He should be fighting every 6-8 weeks at the moment. Otherwise he's stalling his already stalled career even more.

Why is Koc getting a shot! He got whooped by Sprott!

I'd say Audley has more of a right to challendge for it then Koc.

Because its a voluntary defence, Koc is with Sauerland and Sauerland have options on Vidoz.

Exactly, Koc gets beat by Sprott then beats 2 nobodies and he gets a shot. Sauerland have signed Vidoz and they are scratching their own backs

Yeah but Vidoz should still have the right to choose his opponents.

Vidoz should take up Audley's offr and give us and EBU champ. :TU:

Can;t believe we havent had one since Lennox! :o

Warren should get the winner of Skelton and Williams a shot. :TU: [/url]

Is it too late for Audley to sign with Don King? He needs things to happen soon, and Don is the one promoter who can make things happen. He might well be a Leech, but King is the one promoter who can take Audley from contender to chalenger in the space of a month. Don could make Audley vs. Byrd like that.

Not to late for anyone to sign with King, Toney did when he fought Ruiz and he was 36 at the time.

Toney did not sign with King, if I am not mistaken Toney was a mandatory defence.
