Tyson being injured was a poor excuse, anyone who lasted past round 4 had a chance to beat him and he walked fine.

Defend the indefensible by all means but he should have fought in July, there was no fornicating way he had flu the doctor would have noticed when he did his medical no question. His head definitely wasn't right, all that shit with claims he was wearing weights to trick Skelton and all that rubbish and he actually did his own head in not Skelton's. Williams has done it before also for a fight against Packheiser, he pulled out on the day of the bout for no reason.

How do you know the doctors would of known? He gave the BBBC medical notes to prove it. How do we know how good this doctor was?

Strange how he went from 18 stone 12 to 20 stone 3 inless than a month though if he was training for Skelton.

If he had flu as bad as he claims, then any doctor would have noticed. I say its far more likely his fragile mind imploded as it has done on numerous occasions in the past.

All the hype Williams got from Sky, the boxing media, and fans over the years has been nothing but an albatross round his neck. He has domestic level ability yet his head has constantly been filled with delusions of grandeur... but he himself knows the truth, which is why he has constantly underperformed.

He cannot handle pressure - he's always performed best as underdog - and it was all this "Danny's technical skills will expose Skelton easily" talk, along with headlining the first ITV card, that he couldn't cope with. I'm positive I saw him freeze a couple times when Whitesnake actually managed to get one through on the Hatton - Tsyzu undercard, which made me think his punch resistance was totally gone. Skelton's pressure style would just have added to the nightmare and that's why I predicted a first round knockout for Skelton in that one.

As for the rematch - I think Williams will be looser, but Skelton is enough of a pressure fighter to offset Danny's domestic level technical skills. As long as he smothers Danny sufficiently he should get home on points, if not late stoppage.

What's the problem? Danny's just trying to earn a living like anyone else.

I'm sure this PR stunt is not his idea, but after the last fiasco, he has to show the bosses he's willing to go through the motions to get the fight off the ground. Can you imagine the hassle he'd have got if he refused?

So he fucked up last time - well who hasn't in life? He deserves another chance, just like everyone else.

Besides, he'll probably chin the Big Bear when it finaly comes off.

my comments were actually adressed towards the fight not being signed and this PR stunt going ahead anyway. (if you look at the post above you will see this is what i was referring to)

no need for the mugging off comment, if you took the time to find out you might see that im not biased one way or the other with regards to SN and comment on each situation as i see fit.

After williams pulling out of the fight to go and do something this brash is in my opinion pretty stupid when the fight isnt signed hence my comments.

Yes, Danny was wrong to pull out at the last minute and yes, FW was right to slag him off and yes, everybody Skelton included should have been pissed off to lose out on a big Heavyweight fight but, hey, wait a minute, think on. What if Danny had said nothing, was ill as it appears he actually was and been badly hurt or even, God forbid, worse....even killed all for our entertainment, would we as fans have had a clear conscience in slagging him off then?

Against Klitschko Danny lost badly but took his beating like a man and never gave up once...is that the act of a coward or a proud Englishman with the Dunkirk spirit? A coward (Or in my opinion a sensible man) would have stayed on his stool before the halfway mark but he did'nt he kept going and didn't get a penny extra for doing so. A coward my arse.

I was one of a very small group of fans who made the trip to Kentucky to see Danny Williams and let me tell you it knocked the socks off Hatton beating Tszyu in terms of upsets and was a proud time to be an Englishman and Danny was brilliant throughout to us all both beofre and after.

Personally I think Tszyu was in a worse decline than Tyson when he lost to Hatton yet this is being hailed as the Hailey's Comet of British wins. Hatton done a great job granted and he didn't know that the real Tszyu wasn't going to turn up but this was in Manchester for te World title with Millions involved. Danny went to the Deep South, redneck land to box ten rounds, considered as a sacrificial lamb and for less money than any previous Tyson opponent since beofre he became champ in the 80's. However, Williams took his chance and reaped the rewards of what followed.

Danny was wrong to pull out agsint Skelton and has paid the price, the fine and a lesser purse, but at least he is itching to put the record straight whereas Skelton, the so-called British Champion, now doesn't want to know yet it was he and his camp throwing the coward, yellow and scared jibes towards Williams. How the worm has turned down Bedford way.

Sorry fellas, but even if the odds are stacked against him and providing he is fit and well Skelton should take a leaf out of Danny's book and face his demons lhead on ike Danny did against Tyson, where it paid off and then against Klitschko, when it didn't.

In failing to take on Williams Skelton should hand back his belt and not be able to call himself British Champion as quite clearly by his actions he doubts it himself.

Anyway, my main point is, regardless of our opinions never, but never call anyone who climbs through the ropes a coward. If you do you insult the memory of many boxers whose live has been changed for the worse or even ended in the name of our entertainment.

ive always shouted for Danny, anyone calling hiom a coawrd should watch the potter fight, follwed by the vitali fight, both in different ways show immense courage.

However I do think there may have been more of an element that Danny knew he wasnt fit enough and in good enough shape to take on Matt.

Pure conjecture of course but 20 stone 3 is bloody heavy and i just think he thought bollox, to this, if im gonna do it ive got to do it right.

If thats the case then there is an element of blame on danny for not being in shape.

Agreed, Danny is no coward. He proved that against Potter, Samil Sam, Tyson and of course Vitali.

Danny doesn't quit in the ring, but seems to have problems getting in it sometimes, I think he has some sort of problem with fighting itself possibly, not sure, but he is no coward.

I totally agree with boxingchat, thought it surprises me to say so. Nobody who laces up the gloves can be called a coward, and especially not someone like Danny who has fought through unbelievable pain, and when the odds were stacked against him.

He may have fought badly against Vitali, but he certainly fought bravely.

If he is fit and mentally ready, he will give Skelton a boxing lesson.

Tszyu was Fucked with a capital F, Fucked knees, Fucked hips and couldn't run for months = Fucked. Still a great man for taking the fight but the fact is physically he was a wreck. The purse and package offered by Warren was too good for him to turn down. That is fact my friend and if you read the Aussie press before AND after the fight it is documented.

Not taking anything away from Hatton believe me, but Williams win was better in my opinion. Remember most fighters have lost to Tyson before they even get in the ring and Danny overcame that bit and then done him, remarkable.

I don't think that many think DW is a coward, they are more likely just annoyed at the late withdrawl and questionable excuses, followed by him calling out Skelton.
It is the only fight that will do either of them any good at this stage of their careers so they should just sort out the finances and get it on. With Magee/Takaloo in tow it has the potential of being a great night.

but don't u think the loss to mcbride puts williams win into perspective.

tyson is clearly an aged, past it and out of shape fighter.

tszyu has had some bad injuries, but was fit enuff to thrash sharmba mitchell and drill himself into shape for the hatton fight.

Where did I say it was for the British title? What I said, if you understand plain English, is that Skelton is the British Champion and regardless of any ban Williams is English too. Therefore, if you are the British Champion you are considered, in theory, to be the best in Britain and are entitled to consider yourself as such.

If he doesn't want to see off all of his compatriots then perhaps he shouldn't consider himself British Champion and should hand back the mantle regardless of any ban. Surely pride and self satisfaction is more important that hiding behind a ban on Williams.

Williams has offered £25k of his own money, shows he is serious, so why doesn't Skelton offer up his title if he loses. Anyway, if he lost he would probably lose it anyway by default either officially or in the eyes of the public.

Hmm, I don't recally any talk of Tszyu being injured before the fight, and I spoke to him myself, and also to Gary Todd who knows the Tszyu camp very well. I didn't hear of any niggles at all coming into the fight. In fact Tszyu was already running even before he started training camp.

I do agree though that Tyson looked very dangerous for 2-3 rounds against Williams, he was fast, sharp and hitting well, against McBride, Tyson looked like a sack of shit from the start.

However, I still think Hattons win was better. Tszyu was a lot nearer his peak.
