Actually the contracted weight for Mayweather-Mitchell is 147. The bottom line on Floyd is clear though. He's very quickly turning into another Roy Jones Jr. Talks about big fights....talks talks talks. The moment negotiations get serious for a big fight, Pretty Boy ups his demands to a guaranteed 20 million bucks and the fight collapses. Look at all that junk with Winky Wright. He called out Winky and he then the minute Winky got serious about the fight Floyd blinked.

Floyd's a great talent no doubt. But how do you justify Sharmba Mitchell (shot at this stage), Gatti, Bruseles, Corley, N'dou and Sosa when you fight in a division that has great fights and great fighters all around you. Hatton, Margarito, Judah, Witter, Raheem, Lazcano, Castillo, Cotto, Mosley, DLH, Harris or even young guns like Ricardo Torres, Juan Diaz or Juan Urango.

Btw. I think that Hatton can beat Mayweather. If he can stay on top of Floyd like he did to Kostya Tszyu he can neutralized PBF's greatest advantage -- his speed. If Hatton is able to take away Floyd's speed then I think he can go to work on the inside and rough Floyd up a bit.
floyd blinked because winky is much larger and floyd would have to bust his ass to make middleweight n not lose ahything.. pbf just has a big mouth, he called out SRL. and im not quite sure if ur from england, but i do expect some bias ness..... pbf is the best fighter in this weight class bar none. hatton cant stop him and he knows it. hatton wont fight pbf first.
They weren't fighting at Middleweight they were gonna fight at 154. Floyd was the guy who started all this talk in the first place. He did it to get some publicity and allow the boxing public to think he was interested in a big fight. I'm not saying he should fight Winky. I think it would be career suicide. Winky's too big, slick and hits harder than anything Floyd's seen in the lower weight classes. My point is don't call a guy out and then when negotiations get serious up your demands to price yourself outta the fight. Either do it or shut up about it.

And no I'm not from Britain. So you're gonna have to find another angle other than the "biased Brit" to tackle my belief that Hatton could beat Floyd.

well i was just wondering because obviously hatton is loved by england and british people...

anyway i see what your saying about hatton stoping pbf speed, but i just dont see it happening. PBF is TOO fast.. the only way hatton stops pbf from dancing circles around him, is if he leans in on him and tries to push him towards the ropes. that would lead to pbf letting his hands loose, and pounding at hatton until hatton finally got him where he wanted, landed a good punch or 2 then pbf rolls out and starts it again... hes too quick to capture, and youll get pounded trying to do so. pbf has some power too. i think he would start early with some shots to the body and take the life out of hatton, then just pick him apart and break him. PBF is a beast.

I love when people call someone a natural "*****weight"

When they come into the fight 20 fornicating pounds higher than the weigh in.

That's an accurate point. And this is why people make the argument for day-of weigh in's or a return to the original 8 classes. It's a point that few people in boxing want to talk about.

Hatton will killllll Mayweather if they ever get it on! Mayweather just collects WBC titles over brawlers. :TU:

Not that much mate outside of Manchester, he's never been on terrestrial or anything special other than Tszyu. Casual fans will have heard of him but more people here have heard of Amir Khan after only 2 fights.

can PBF do this every second of every minute of every round? if he fights hatton PBF will be in with imo the fittest fighter out there, hatton has immense in fact freaky stamina and strength and he has fought this way all his career so hard fights, fought at lung busting pace are second nature to ricky. plus if the fight develops how you say i think ricky wouldnt mind taking a few shots as long as he could land a couple of his body shots on PBF because if PBF does start to slow down......well then he`s in the trenches.

ricky`s quick on his feet and a master of fighting in close, probably the best around so i think if PBF wants to trade body shots ricky will think its his birthday or something. another great asset of ricky is his heart, if PBF manages to break it in the ring i`ll take my hat off to him because no one has done it yet.

Mitchell has the fastest hands in the world?

What  are you quite mad?
Floyd is fantastic, imo Mitchells hands are faster. Floyds handspeed isn't alone what makes him best P4P - he combines power with speed (reducing speed) more than just having handspeed for the sake of it. I think Mitchell is a tough style match up for Floyd as would be Judah.
Floyd is probably the best combination puncher in boxing, and Mitchell is fast, but hardly out of this world.

I can kinda agree with everybody in this thread so far. Floyd does look amazing and I wouldn't pick anyone over him at 140 or 147. At the same time I give Hatton the best shot is he can close the space using his jab which he neglected in the Tszyu fight and get him to the ropes to work the body, though I think his lack of defence will be his undoing along with Mayweather combination punching off the back foot. I also recognise Mayweather's opposition has not been good enough since Castillo. Yeah Corley and Gatti were good fighters, but not good enough for someone of Mayweather's quality.

And Mitchell has not looked good for a long time now, the same guy who struggled with Ndou. Imo he doesn't represent any sort of challenge to Floyd.

make no mistake pbf will destroy hatton, hatton can only box comeing forward and if you remember hatton was getting hit easy by kosty tysu.pbf will be to qwick for hatton he will dazzle hatton with hand speed then take hatton out.i no hatton as great work rate but thats about it he is far to pridictable comes in a straight line a very smart fighter like pbf will be able to read him like a book. :TU:

mayweather has a tendency to move and stop and use that high held guard to take time out and then blast back with combinations. :box: he's never been a sugar ray leonard, always on the move type of fighter.

people on here keep saying mayweather will move all night and pick him off and that is not the way floyd fights. the reason castillo had success was cos of that and the same with chavez.

hatton has a real shot of winning this fight. :TU:

Well I hope the Hatton's enjoy their Christmas Turkey this year because if he fight's PBFM in 2006 and loses his title and his court case he could be homeless, penniless and eating offal through a straw next year!! :TU:

Hatton neglected the jab because he was to busy holding onto Tszyu, Tszyu and Mayweather are to diffrent in there styles to even compare.
Hatton cant beat Mayweather unless he is allowed to hold and punch but Mayweather is not going to stand still and let him hold like Tszyu did. Mayweather will jab and move and Hatton will be totally outclassed if he tries to jab with Mayweather.

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but I don't have the intelligence or stamina to check.

Vis-avis the whole 140/147 shenanigans, if Mayweather-Mitchell was happening at 140, would we not have heard about this fight being a WBC defence for PBF? A non-title fight @ 140 for the WBC champ I suppose is plausible but pretty rare I would have thought

it's taking place at 147. :TU:

mitchell moved up after the tszyu debacle and mayweather has wanted to box at welterweight for a while now.

Which shows what a sad state of affairs boxing has reached in the UK. Hatton should be a household name.
