You do realise that Rory specifically asked that this thread not be turned into a joke. I'm trying to do my bit. I just wish he'd enlighten me on all the hugging he claims takes place at showings of The Cinderella Man in the USA. Did you see anything akin to that when were sitting there with your litre of pepsi coke and your bucket of pop corn?

Pete, we once had a dog in the 60's with the same name as Douglas Bader's black labrador. Was it Bader? They sampled the movie in The Wall, anyway. You don't see many black labs with that name these days.

Rory, why not answer my question regarding the audience hugging you claimed takes place whenever you go to the movies and watch The Cinderella Man? I just can't picture it myself. I think you added that for effect. You know, a bit of artistic licence. God knows we are all guilty of that at times.

And don't be telling me where and when to post, little buddy. If you don't want comments on your posts then you know what to do.

no i agree with that about louis and dempsey.. but it was the fact that braddock hadnt fought in almost a year before this run... he was beaten up badly by the depression..he was close to living on the streets.. he was considered OLD..he was considered washed up..meanwhile max was in his prime and the most feared boxing around.

i know he had a great jab, and im not doubting his greatness..i stil have him at 8. i just dont think his competition merits him a top 5

As you are 17 you wouldn't have been around for Holmes' reign. So which of his fights have you seen on TV or tape or DVD? Which ones impressed you? Which ones didn't?

My dog was a King Charles spaniel... very nervous animal, used to run away from my cats....

of course he looked impressive against ali, ali was so beyond his old self. but i was impressed against shavers and norton- of course when holmes was in his prime, but he looked old and outmatched against tyson.
