Could you post the motivating photo so we all can see? Why would I want to keep such inspiration to just me an mine?
You are a motivational speaker correct?

Buzzy, the poster is only available to those who would truly appreciate it. That's why I offered it to you. Surely, you could find a space for it between your poster of Princess Di and the one advertising the Tiny Tim Ukelele Concert in Pigs Knuckle, Arkansas.BoxBuzz wrote:Could you post the motivating photo so we all can see? Can I have a poster too... I need it for my darts practise as the wife is fed up holding the apples on her head!.... :xCollins2000 wrote:Buzzy, the poster is only available to those who would truly appreciate it. You do realise that Rory specifically asked that this thread not be turned into a joke. I'm trying to do my bit. I just wish he'd enlighten me on all the hugging he claims takes place at showings of The Cinderella Man in the USA. Did you see anything akin to that when were sitting there with your litre of pepsi coke and your bucket of pop corn?
I named my dog after Sonny liston... he met an untimely end too! (the dog that is!)BoxBuzz wrote:Hmmm well I'm just an old softy and I was hugging my wife at that time.
I thought the movie was very good. And I was inspired by his determination and decency. But remember I'm quite a bit older than the average boxrec contributor. So I'm just a sentimental old fluff. Oh and I even named my dog after Braddock.
But the work you have done and the inspiration that you have provided....now that's an entirely different kettle of fish altogether.
Buzz, I'm not interested in what you and your wife get up to. Some things are best kept private. However, I am interested in the dog. Can you tell me a bit more about it?BoxBuzz wrote:Hmmm well I'm just an old softy and I was hugging my wife at that time.

Pete, we once had a dog in the 60's with the same name as Douglas Bader's black labrador. Was it Bader? They sampled the movie in The Wall, anyway. You don't see many black labs with that name these days.silkov wrote:I named my dog after Sonny liston... he met an untimely end too! You ever visit The Thomas A'Beckett? That used to be my local for a while when I was living just off The Old Kent Road.
My dog was a King Charles spaniel... very nervous animal, used to run away from my cats....BoxBuzz wrote:Ahhh Me pooch? the first time i saw that movie people were hugging and cheering. same thing happened when i went to see the movie Miracle.. (and by the way i mean hugging there friends and family its not like some random dude came up to me and hugged me....????)Collins2000 wrote:Rory, why not answer my question regarding the audience hugging you claimed takes place whenever you go to the movies and watch The Cinderella Man? I just can't picture it myself. I think you added that for effect. You know, a bit of artistic licence. God knows we are all guilty of that at times.Rory McCloskey wrote:collins i really dont care what u think about me, i admire Braddock, and if you think thats wierd then im cool with that..i dunno why my age matters, ive told you my backround with braddock... i dont care who posts back saying oh braddock a great guy braddock was great... i dunno why u think i do?... the people who post back with comments do it because they respect the same fighter i do, and its really hard not to respect JJB. you dont have to like him but its hard not to respect him. obviously ur offended by something i said but dont turn this into your little private bashing thread, just dont bother posting back i dont wanna read ur negative posts on this thread..do whatever on my other threads but not this one
And don't be telling me where and when to post, little buddy. If you don't want comments on your posts then you know what to do.
Good night and god bless.
I have a question about this comment Rory. I've read post were you argue that Braddock was alot better fighter than given credit for, and youve picked him in several post to either beat or be competitve with very good and even some HOF fighters. So why is beating Max Baer doing the impossible and unbeleivable? Baer was not exactly Dempsey or Louis.theone wrote:I have a thing for guys who can do the impossible, guys who can acheive things that were so unbeleivable, they surprise themselves.
no i agree with that about louis and dempsey.. but it was the fact that braddock hadnt fought in almost a year before this run... he was beaten up badly by the depression..he was close to living on the streets.. he was considered OLD..he was considered washed up..meanwhile max was in his prime and the most feared boxing around.
im only 17 and i dont have my liscense..one day though..one daySeamus wrote:Rory
If you haven't already, why don't you visit Braddock's grave and put a wreath on it. I do things like that all the time. If you haven't seen it, here it is http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cg ... 20Braddock

As you are 17 you wouldn't have been around for Holmes' reign. So which of his fights have you seen on TV or tape or DVD? Which ones impressed you? Which ones didn't?Rory McCloskey wrote:i know he had a great jab, and im not doubting his greatness..i stil have him at 8. i just dont think his competition merits him a top 5silkov wrote:Actually I must say I know it may seem I'm taking the micky but I'm not really... theres nothing wrong in admiring someone like Braddock, his story shows that anyone can achieve their dream, no matter how many set backs they have had and how many people have written them off... whether it be in boxing or anything else in life.

of course he looked impressive against ali, ali was so beyond his old self. but i was impressed against shavers and norton- of course when holmes was in his prime, but he looked old and outmatched against tyson.
