I dont know how anyone using the 12 round scoring system could score Hopkins the winner in Hopkins-Taylor. He gave away at least 7 of the first 9 rounds and didn't score a knockdown. Yes he stunned and hurt Taylor a few times late but that doesn't mean he still didn't lose 7 rounds to 5 at best.

Will Taylor-Hopkins 2 be counted in fighter of the year? A KO win or a more convincing win puts him right to the front of the que - especially as Hops was P4P no1 in most peoples lists.

I know it was a self destruction, but I do feel when people mention the Light Middles and talk of Wright, Mosely, DLH, Vargas, Trinidad etc as being the fighters of a generation they do miss out on guy especially...... Harry Simon.

I haven't seen much of him have you? I know he beat Winky and killed someone in a car accident damaging himself. How good was he?

Well why wasn't the fight made at 154 lbs so? You have to admit that the limit of 160 lbs heavily favoured Trinidad. Mayorga had previously only fought once at 154 lbs! And yes, even if Trinidad weighed in at 157 lbs, that 3lbs still would have made a big difference.

And it's premature to call Winky an all time great. He beat an old version of Mosley (who was at his best at 135 lbs) and used the perfect tactics against an underprepared Trinidad with no plan B. What other big name natural light middleweight did Winky fight against? Answer to that is Vargas who he lost against and Vargas was then destroyed by prime Trinidad & prime DLH. Plus his fight against Trinidad was at Middleweight! To say he is an all time great at light middleweight is taking the piss.

Trinidad-Wright are the 2 best LMWs of a generation - fact - therefore Wrights win is historical. Eubank and Benns better achievements are at Super Middle - but these solidify why they are top middleweights. If Hatton moved upto 147 to beat Mayweather in his next fight - it would solidify greatness as a 140lber more than a great Welterweight. And if you didnt know Winky-Vargas could of gone either way.

And Trinidad was always small at 160 - he came back at middleweight because he'd acheived everything he wanted too at 154 and wanted to build a legacy at 160 not because he couldnt make 154.

Benn will not be known as a great Middleweight. Super Middleweight is where he was at his best, at his strongest and is why he will be remembered as a good Super Middleweight, not a Middleweight.

Wright has struggled to get the big fights but look at his opponents at Light Middleweight. The only name opponent he has fought against at that weight is Vargas. It may have been a close fight which could have gone either way but the record books shows he LOST the fight. Vargas previously had 17 fights, Winky had 41 fights prior. He may have been a late developer but he still never got to prove himself against any other good Light Middleweights in their primes. His greatest achievement is at 154 lbs against a washed up Shane Mosley, who was at his best as a LIGHTWEIGHT.

The Trinidad fight didn't even happen at Light Middleweight either. So what if Tito was not a big Middleweight, it was still a Middleweight fight and the extra weight appeared to favour Winky more. Aswell as this, that fight was Trinidads last, coming at the end of his career after a long layoff and comeback fight against a blown up Welter who had only ever fought once above 147 lbs and never at 160 lbs.
