charles best weight was low 170s, to be exact judging from his record.

170-175 range.

- charles peak fights were probably marshall III, moore III, and ray II and in those fights he weighed 173, 173, and 175.

- yes charles most likely could have made 168lb without feeling drained, but i believe he would fight 175lb if he were fighting today.

- closest charles weighed to 168 at his peak after WW II was 169lb in 2nd lyoyd marshall fight. other than that he weighed over 170.

could he have made 168lb without being drained? most likely. but he was just as effective at light-H if not more since he would feel stronger.

- either way it doesnt matter, he would have wiped out both divisions weighing 168lb or 175lb.

tantum, i dont appreciate the wise ass coments either. show some respect. ur favorite fighter was a class act, u should act the same.

i think its clear charles peak was 1946-48 unless jaclem disagrees.

- but before WW II, while beating some good middles, he also had some devastating losses and they were more because he was only 21 years old and green. he was only 21 weighing 165lb fighting the likes of experienced top contender 175lb bivins.
but a 1946 charles up against a prime bivins? charles wins

- marshall and bivins were still not past there primes in 1946 when charles demolished them. it was simply an more mature, stronger, heavier, peak charles.
