Based on the original description, I would have the fight 28-28. If the knocked-down fighter had dominated the round, apart from being knocked down, then I would score it a 9-9. The other two rounds are both 10-9, I will only score a 10-8 if a fighter takes a hellacious beating, or does next to nothing in a round.

Here's another scenario to show why I don't like the amateur system. Let's say Fighter A is scoring heavily and outboxing Fighter B, but B is one tough hombre and the punches are having little effect on him. Then near the end of round, B catches A with a hard shot that wobbles his legs and sends him back to his corner looking dazed. To me, it doesn't matter how many more punches A landed, because they were ineffectual and B landed the real telling blow. So, I give it to B 10-9.
