Itsn't that the argument against Marciano?
But Archie Moore was in his prime, he fought for another 15 years at the top level.

The obvious would be him being of Italian origin but other things niggles also, his business dealings and his Cuban links stand out because the mob were a big part of it as they were with boxing back then, and there were occasions when people who had got involved had met untimely deaths when money worries arose.
When he came to England after his retirement he was pictured with the Krays who were said to be looking to get involved with the mafia at the time, maybe I just have an over active imagination and it is nothing but coincidence but did he have any links?
Marciano's manager Al Weill had clear mob links, much to Marcianos dislike. Marciano also shared his final plane journey with Frank Farrell, who also had clear mob links. A book written about former Marciano opponent Harry Haft also claims Haft was visited in his dressing room before his fight with Marciano by two gangster types who told him to throw the fight or else !!!
I don't think Marciano was directly mob related but those around him certainly were.

Marciano knew Gabe Genovese well, and was an acquaintance of Frankie Carbo. There is however, no real indication a fix was ever in. The Moore rumor is ridiculous

Running down great fighters is par for the course in here.
According to Nancy and his bitch Irene, Ali was a fraud and all his wins were suspicious.

"Ali was a fraud and all his wins were suspicious."
Not all, but many of them were, and that's putting it mildly. And yeah, Marciano, great a boxer as he was, was mixed up with the mob for most of his life. I think he got his start as a "debt collector" for them.

..i am not a marciano fan and do not think in any way he was a great fighter. but...except for a few questions about his earliest fights i have no doubts that his fights were not fixed ......he got away with a lot of things in the ring that referees were kind and didn't interfere with his tactics but there were no tank jobs. now..as for the mob...yeah, he was a pet of those gentleman....he was well known around the mayfield road gang outside of cleveland. rocky loaned money with interest, and the borrowers knew that it would be most unfortunate if they did not make their payments in time. sometimes rocky actually did the collecting himself. there were other times when some of his dining companions did the collecting.....even more convincingly.

The Krays both fought professionally as lightweights. Fighters tend not to care how other fighters or ex fighters make a buck.

there was a big mafia guy named frankie carbone who was a big fight fan and also had dealings in the main boxing outfit the IBCback in the early 50's and yes he did try to incourage certain fighters of that era to take dives and so on but by know meane was the rock involved with him or any fixed fights marciano would never be involved with things like that marciano stayed clear or carbone and carbone respected marciano to much anyway

GI...good work! snagged the perp cold, on a "run on" sentence charge eh? But you know how it is these days, no respect for the grammar police. As a result it's likely no prosecutor is going to want to litigate this charge. (Too busy with sidewalk spitters, porn viewers, fake Rolex watch salesmen and the lot). Why don't you let him off easy with just a warning this time?

There really is little if any evidence to support any Marciano Mob connection of any significance.

C'mon, The Rock died in the plane crash with Frankie Fratto, son of the original "Teflon Don", the Fratto Mafia family.
Frankie (Fratto) Farrell with Rocky Marciano hours before fatal plane crash.

There's a photo of Tyson with Johnny Fratto there, too.
The various mobs are so mixed up with boxing it isn't funny.
PS If that guy don't look like the original guinea gangster I don't know who does!

I wonder if any of"the Boys"caught up with the 2 low-life scum who had beaten and car-jacked the Rocks 23 year old daughter
in Fort Lauderdale in 1975.

..i have photos of myself next to some guys who were called mobsters...some name some here would recognize....and i have a brief mention in two books about a few of these gentlemen ...and i have never been a gangster...mobster...whatever name you want to use....often one's profession at the time throws people together.
..and those with italian backgrounds are called italians or italian italian-americans....(or sicilians or sicilian americans...if one wants to put a fine point on it.....not ethnic insult references...

If you scroll down the page at this web site about the Kray brothers,
you might recognize a face or two in some of the photographs circa 1965.
Some of these famous people next to the Kray brothers, may have just being polite when someone asked to take a photograph with
them of course.

Well, Rocky was clearly a little more involved with them than just getting his picture taken next to some guys. That being said, unlike so many other famous fighters, I don't believe he ever did anything dishonest in the ring. One story says that he was once asked to throw a fight and he told the thug who asked him that he was a disgrace to the Italians. As for the "guinea" comment, point taken, but I'm part Italian myself, so maybe you can cut me a little slack on that, but if it bugs you I'll delete it, no problem.
"i have a brief mention in two books about a few of these gentlemen"
Interesting. Care to elaborate on that?

doublex......hey, you've got the right to the ethnic name bit....i just thought you were one of the people who toss them around in a demeaning way....about every group. as for removing it....of course not.
re: the books. out of print i am happy to say. long time ago....i was a different person then and in a different world.
rocky's fights.....not a great fighter, but an honest one.

Well, for starters you can look at the guys he's hanging out with, like on that link I just posted
http://www.midwestmafia.com/
or the guy who died with him in the plane crash.
"not a great fighter, but an honest one."
I differ with you there, Jaclem. I think he was one of the greatest. I would have loved to see him fight Ali, both at their prime. I think he would have KO'd Ali in short order. If he was fighting today he'd be the cruiserweight champ.

This is not concrete evidence... This is circumstantial guesswork and assumption.
If I get a taxi with Al Capone, would that mean that I am a gangster?
Of course not, don't be silly.

Easy there, big fella, nobody said Rocky was "in ht emafia or any type of mob", but he kept bad company sometimes, eh?
