I'd thought Ikeke's height and reach would've kept Abraham off him till about the 5th or 6th, when the US based Nigerian (via Canada) would start to trade with the Armenian. As it went, Abraham simply outboxed and outpunched Ikeke from the opening bell. Looked a class above, basically. Either that or else he just had his tactics spot on... and make no mistake, he isn't the wild slugger he's made out to be. He's very smart in there. If you were looking for a middleweight great to model him as, look no further than Gene Fullmer...
FWIW, I think Abraham's win over Ian Gardner was about on the same level as Jermain Taylor's over Daniel Edouard. I also think Felix Sturm's controversial loss to DLH was maybe better than both them. Maybe.
As it stands, I wonder why Taylor got the Hopkins fight and not the other two? Hmmm, the mind boggles.
Abraham - Taylor would be a good one. Both are decent boxers, both are wild and heavy-handed, both have questionable stamina. It could turn out to be a brutal thriller.
Anyway, well done to Arthur. It meant a lot to him, and he brought a big crowd. What the fornicate was that entrance all about though?
