An excellent win for Haye

But we did not have a chance to see if the doubts we have about him are really true

David Haye for me is the best prospect we have, he is all charisma and excitement...a real potential superstar.

I only hope his chin is not what most think, because sooner or later he will walk onto one, but with his super punch power he has the magic ingredient that all world champions need

No doubt Haye is world class. However, I don't think we're going to have a quiet or simple world champion on our hands. I think he will still be prone to the odd bout of Mock-syndrome and have a mild allergy to Cats. He'll probably knock out the p4p no 1 in one fight then look helpless against a 'keep busy' opponent or paper champion, only to KTFO in the rematch. Hell he's exciting though

I assumed the Italian was a mandatory so he shouldnt be due one for a while ... so can go where the money is......

Enzo is the mandatory, and I am sure there is talk of purse bids already. It is strange, but maybe in their madness the WBO are trying to get this mandatory sorted ASAP because of the long delays in the securing Cantatore.

dont kid yourself Stu, the WBO are trying to get this sorted out quickly because a certain promoter wants it quickly and the WBO will get good money from it...

Cantatore was a mandatory then, so surely Nelson doesnt have to fight another mandatory so soon.....

I believe he has 9 months with which to make a mandatory defence which will take him to August????? So as long as Haye gets in the WBO top 15, which he should do after beating Gurov, who was number 15, then Nelson has the chance to choose Enzo or Haye!!!!!!

From a fighters point of view the WBO is the easiest belt to defend..... easier than EBU, WBA, WBC and IBF due to the pull the two big european promoters have on the rankings

without a doubt, you're right, those two only have to shout jump, and the WBO have their tape measures out...

I'd like to see Enzo Vs Haye after Enzo beats Johnny.

Haye also said this about the weight making problems.
"It was so hard getting down to the weight. I was walking around 20lb over the limit," he said.

"I think I have four or five fights left at the division. I need to clean up and then move up to heavyweight."

So in that case can you see any of the champions being in a rush to meet him, he's not going to get the No1 contender spot and force a match with any of those.
Maybe he won't get a chance to face the best in the cruiserweight division.

I don't think Haye is ready for Heavyweight, I just don't think he will ever be big enough.

I would like to see less pictures of him with cigars and beer in hand before saying he has weight making difficulties.

He should stay at Cruzer and cut down on the weights.

Sounds like a wiked performance although Im increasingly thinking that his promoters have done a shoddy job in terms of promoting him because someone who knocks people out and is good looking and charming should and could be a house hold name or even a warren style home town hero.

I hear he spars with HWs which I find interesting but lookes a bit chinny now and again. Would really like to see Haye Hobson because at least we know the kind on chin and skills Hobson has to offer, and you feel it may extend Haye.

Terrefying prospect though.

Gurov is way better than Hobson, Hobsons a step or two backwards...

I'd also argue that Hobson is not up with Gurov, but that doesn't mean Haye's going to spark everybody who's not as god as Gurov in 45 seconds. Hobson's worked damn hard to get to the position he's in, too - he may well prove to be as good as Gurov in the future.

Hobson brings things to the table that will pose Haye problems, no doubt. Impressive though the Gurov show was, Haye can't think that everybody he touches is going to turn to dust

I reckon he should either
a) Defend his Euro belt against Cantatore to make a statement by koing him to Nelson
b) Fight and try to avenge his only loss against Thompson who looks ready for the taking.....never said that before

thompson is a sensible choice. haye needs to fight someone who doesn't knock out easily & he has the revenge motivation. also, i'd like to see how the new improved haye deals with a guy who's going to back up. haye's never as sharp coming forward as he is, say, countering.

i'd salivate at Haye v the Nelson-Macca winner, if that fight is still happening...

i think Steve Cunningham would be a fine test, if haye keeps winning. Steve is more of a light heavy with muscles, can't punch, but is extremely tough, and very slick. Cunningham has beaten Sebastian Rothmann, Guillermo Jones and Kelvin Davis, and is waiting out a shot at the Mormeck-Bell winner. good fight for haye down the line...

haye should never entertain the idea of being a heavy.

Sorry but looking at the Thompson fight i dont think he'll have the chin for the HW division.

Hayes best best at HW would be to keep fairly light and mobile, maybe around 210-215, he'd have a huge speed advantage over most of the big lumbering fuckwits who masquerade as heavyweights these days.

But yes, you'd have to wonder whether he'd be able to take a heavyweights punch.

True but you would need to find a heavyweight who threw a punch and there are not many of those around at the moment.

And isn't Hide back at Cruiser now; any ideas of his fight plans ?

even the best cruisers, like Juan Carlos Gomez and Jirov, can't seem to hack it at heavyweight. even haye doesn't know how good he is yet. i'd hate to see him be a fat, ponderous, flagging heavyweight.

i don't think herbie fought that many times at cruiser. as far as i remember, he started going over 190-lbs early on in his career. but yeah i remember he said he was going to move back down for his ill-fated Canadian comeback.
