For me Shavers was the best puncher at heavyweight , sadly he didnt have the durability to match.

Ali himslef said that Shavers was the hardest hitter he went in with and he went in with Foreman , Frazier etc.....

Holmes said the same thing....he said the only thing that saved him when Shavers decked him, was that he hit the canvas so hard it woke him up....boy did Larry have serious powers of recovery.

Peter Buckley who has met many punchers in his time said that Duke McKencie was the hardest hitter he faced.

Another one not mentioned yet is Herbie Hide.

PB: Though Naz was the most awkward, I always rated Duke McKenzie as the most skilful I fought. Schooled to fornicate, man. Duke was barely a flyweight when I boxed him but his jab was like someone ramming a broom handle in your face.

Strength-wise, Scott Harrison was probably the toughest. You really feel his strength. Stand in front of him and you’re in trouble.

[Acelino] Freitas was a real strong, heavy-handed bastard but probably the hardest shot I took, believe it or not, was from Colin McMillan, who snapped me right on the chin. I got back up, but I didn’t know too much about where I was.

My hardest fight came against [the future British, Commonwealth and European bantam boss] Paul Lloyd. He was a good body puncher. Stopped me with an accumulation of shots. We’d had a good row but my face never marked up as bad as it did that night. I was aching for ages after.

, when our gym was taken to Nobby Nobbs Gym , for sparring , years back.

I reckon The Black Flash might be the hardest single puncher I have seen. Is he still helping out Brian Hughes or is he in bother, anyone know?

I used to love watching Barrett fight, thought he had it all. speed , power skills. Shame he never quite lived up to expectations.

Gutted. He was one of my fav. fighters. Anyone other than the spidery Galloway and he might have been a world champ.

And yes, that was BRUTAL.

Bingham coulld certainly hit...

Shooting off at a tangent but did anyone see this weeks KOTV?

The left hook that Tommy Morrison exploded on Razor Ruddock had awesome effect

. I think I could watch that punch everyday and still jump out of my seat when it lands 8)
