I guess I rate harrison higher than a lot of people on this forum. I respect why many of you hold little faith in him, esspecially in light of the WIlliams fight. However I think he can beat Skelton and hear is why:-
1) He fought the wrong fight against Williams and had he been forced to fight more the result would have been different
2) Skelton would have a lot more trouble than williams landing clean, he has a good jab and is good at not getting hit.
3) Although Skelton has not ducked anyone I think the most skillful fighter he has been in against is Sprott who is still a level below harrison who is a skillful big fellow.
1) He didn't just fight the wrong fight, he didn't fight. He fought like he just cacked his pants. He was too scared to think tactically.
2) Williams has a better jab than Skelton, but at 9st 4, was hardly a mobile target.
3) How can you say Sprott is a level below Harrison, ummm whoose BEATEN Danny Williams.
Audley is not a skillful big fellow, otherwise he would be undefeated.
Don't think Sprott's win was 100% deserving of the decision but anyhow

I have the fullest respect for Skelton, he has developed into a a hard man to beat.
But i do feel that he's going to come unstuck ugainst Williams, in the fights when someone has connected with Skeltons chin he goes into a kind of bravado mode , and trys to show he can take the opponents punches, i feel that Williams will connect and follow up with meaty punches, KO inside 3 rounds me.
Funnily enough i feel that Skelton would beat Valuev, he would be to busy for Valuev to handle.

Danny was talking up a match with Valuev in the papers this morning, after he bashes up Skelton that is. Trouble is, DW looked so terrible last time up, I'm not sure he still has it in him - looked a near shot fighter in fact.
Not surprising after the Vitali hammering I suppose. Don't rate Skelton much either - so who knows. At least makes it an interesting fight.

If it does get postponed, then it might work to Skeltons advantage, Valuev has a Voluntary defense of the WBA title coming up, somewhen around March i think. Skelton might be able to get his name in the mix for that one

I reckon either Matt Skelton or Danny Williams could beat Valuev, I hope one of them gets a crack at him.
I havent seen much K1 or MMA, but i can remember seeing a Dutch bloke knock Ray Mercer last year out with a drop kick in about 20 seconds in one of these fights. I know Mercer is knocking on, but it was incredible. I cant imagine any HW boxer in the history of the game doing that to Mercer, who is one tough, iron chinned SOB!

A properly timed kick is a lot more powerful than a punch...the muscles involved in throwing a kick are the most powerful in the body, think of the power or the quads, glutes and hip all being thrown into a single blow.
A single well placed kick to the head will render anyone unconscious or even kill them.

For devestating high kicks you have to see Mirko "CROCOP" Filipovic... the guy has knocked out so many good guys with a single high kick.. he nearly decapitated Vovchanchyn and Emiliaenko.... He fought Mark Hunt last week... caught Hunt with a beauty of a high kick and Hunt brushed it off... Dude has the hardest chin in contact sport for sure... Got battered by Le Banner for 2 rounds and never looked like dropping from the head shots....

That was a decent scrap with CroCop and Hunt. CroCop caught him with about 3 high kicks and even an axe kick and Hunt walked though him.
I agree, Hunt has the best chin of anyone I've ever seen.
Hunt says he wants Fedor next. If it stayed standing I'd fancy Hunt, but I just think Fedor would take him down, and he's the most devastating ground and pound artist I've ever seen.

Fedor V Hunt should be good... but Fedor always finds a way of getting the result much easier than you expected
The way he out-struck CroCop the supposed better striker was soooo impressive...
He is so strong too, so will be interesting to see how easy it is for him to take Hunt down, Hunt is a monster and very strong and well balanced.
I dont reckon Fedor will look for GnP victory..... he will probably go for an armbar or something.. he'd probably break his hands bouncing them off Hunts head :-)
Having said all that Fajita nearly sparked Fedor so as good as he is, he is beatable...

I agree actually, Fedor probably would go for a sub. Although he has got a habit of doing the opposite to what you think. When Fedor fought Nogueira, who was considered teh greatest heavyweight ground fighter in the world, Fedor took him down and beat him on the ground. And when Fedor fought CroCOp, who was considered the best standing fighter in the world, Fedor beet him standing up.
But the thing is, Yoshida took down Hunt and armbarred him, and whilst Yoshida is an Olympic Judo medallist, he's also about 40 pounds lighter than Fedor.

Fedors strength is unreal, he throws 250 lb guys around like rag dolls...
Forgot Hunt had been arm barred.... he was strictly a K1 fighter then so lets hope he has developed a more rounded game or else it could be over quick..
MMA rapidly getting a bit stale in the heavies as Fedor is so dominant..
I liked the look of the Polish Judo player who fought Fedors brother.. only his 2nd MMA fight and could have won with a little more experience... Had Alex's back twice and went too high and slipped off...

Pawel Nestula? They stuck him in with Nogueira in his first fight, then Alexander. How tough is that?
Heavies in UFC are stale as well, there just aren't enough big guys around.
I'd like to see Arlovski v Fedor, just out of interest, although I think Arlovski would only be 3rd or 4th best heavy in Pride, I think CroCop, Fedor, Nogueira and probably Hunt would best him.
Didn't see that Nestula fight, i picked up the American feed, and they only showed the second half of the card, I wanted to see James Thompson fight, although he beat Giant Silva quickly I understand with a SOCCER KICK TO THE HEAD!!

Never seen Thompson fight. I've missed a few Pride shows lately, used to get the DVD's off E-Bay, but they've clamped down on people seeling pirate DVD's.
You gotta love Pride, putting Zuluzinho in with Fedor. That's like putting Ainsley Harriott in a ring with a prime Mike Tyson.
Did you see Takinori Gomi? That's one tough 11 stone S.O.B.
Any what about Pride shows in general? 48,000 people, laser shows, giant video walls and Takada in a thong banging a drum. Doesn't get better than that. The greatest show on earth.

I'd put Gomi number 2 P4P at the minute. Have to put Fedor first. Only ever lost once in about 22 fights, and that was due to a cut when he was inexperienced. Plus in heavyweights, one lucky punch can end it.
K-1's good, but having watched MMA for about 3 years, i always end up thinking "Take him down!!!"
What do you think of Tito and Shamrock for Ultimate Fighter 3? That'll be the best reality show ever.

Hunt is a hard bastard, I was willing Crocop to take him down early but he stood with him. I read on Sherdog he was trying to make the fight more entertaining by standing with Hunt at Pride's request -not sure how much truth there is in that. Crocop would surely have won it on the ground.

I honestly don't believe that, CroCop must want a rematch with Fedor so he would do nothing but go for the win. I think he just genuinely feared Hunt so didn't want to get too close.
Not knocking what you've said, that's just my take.

A close friend of mine who has Boxed and Kick-Boxed for about 15 years says the same thing as you James. But as a fighter herself (when she is kick-boxing) she prefers to punch and use kicks more as a defencive move, to keep her opponent at a distance when required etc, but she says she is in the minority in her gym using this tactic.

Sorry i am late replying.... Yeah no argument with me putting Fedor number 1.... he has looked extremely dominant!!!
The ultimate fighter ... Tito and Ken presumably dont get on too well.... there was talk of a few british guys being on TUF3.... not sure if that is happening
