sounds like a minor domestic to me, and no one but the people there will ever know the full story.

Just ask any teacher since the threat (notice the threat) of corporal punishment has been remioved what the little bastards can be like. I dont condone it but as threat it worked when I was a kid.
I never got the cane at school but boy did I behave in case I did. And it was use din only the most extreme of cases.

J, to be honest, that's best post i've read from anyone in a while, you get full credit from me for that, i've been trying to think of the way to say what you said, but you worded it perfectly. As i've said numerous times, I would NEVER condone an actual "beating" of a kid, but you have to wonder why this generation of kids are such little bastards with NO respect whatsoever for authority or anyone for that matter. Because they don't get taught it. As i've said, I was clipped a few times as little kid, and that's not because my parents were child beaters, it was because I was a little shit at the time, and without the dicipline, who knows how i'd have turned out? I'm only 19, so I clearly don't know a lot about parenting, but I take so much pride in being different to the yobbos of today's culture. Kids weren't even this bad even when I was in school, let alone further back. Of course there are other rational ways to teach a kid, but they aren't always smart or respectfull enough for it to work on them. What you going to do? Stop his pocket money? They might just take it out of your wallett when you go out, or do what others like to do, prey upon some poor old woman instead.
Nothing wrong with a slap, or if need be, a clip.

So why isn't this shit tought to people. Why aren't there classes for new mothers in this sort of thing?
Think of the effects if everyone knew what amounts to very basic psychology, you'd have kids growing up who knew that when you step out of line or scream and demand things, that it doesn't work out in their best interests, and who hadn't grown up being slapped about.
Think about this, if you beat your kid, and then tell your kid not to hit other people, how does a child work that one out? Or slapping them for beating another kid up, again, how does that work.
I can totally understand why you see mothers slapping their kids and screaming at them in the supermarket, it's because they don't know any other way.
If and when I have kids, I am going to make damned sure that I have a good parenting book to prevent me going out of my mind.

Your spot on. It's funny how we have to pass tests to do this and that. Or have some level of education, but anyone can be a parent. Which is probably the most important job out there. Not only should there be parenting classes, but also more basic life skills classes.

Fightnews are reporting that Hearns is slated to return in February. Its quite badly written piece given the news of this arrest. Make a point that Hearns and Hearns Jnr (Ronald) will fight in seperate bouts.

J is right. An unusual state of affairs I know, but he is.
Firstly, if Tommy Hearns had punched his kid, the lad would have been in hospital.
Secondly, liberalism has gone mad in this country and that is why you have pensioners scared to come out of their fornicating houses. And don't be giving me all this shit about tough times and social deprivation.
There have always been people who have been poor but they didn't behave like shitbags. Or, if they did, there were tangible reprisals.
I'm not sure if corporal punishment works or not in the long-term. It certainly does in the short term though. It doesn't apply in my present school as it's lovely but I can tell you one thing - the educational prospects of 27 kids would have been much improved if I was allowed to clip the one arsehole in the class. Who matters more?
And don't be giving me this shit about sending them out, sending them home, etc. They just end up in front of you grinning from ear to ear next time they are back, or even worse, starting on another poor teacher.
If anyone wants their eyes opening to how shit society is becoming, I suggest that you do two things. Firstly, visit a magistrates court for a morning or afternoon. Secondly, arrange a visit to a state secondary school. Not the worst, but not the best either. You won't believe your fornicating eyes.
