Yep Archie's last fight in my home town of Phoenix and DiBiase was a loud wrestling champion, he didnt last to long with Archie in an honest boxing match..

The fight had to be worth a few laughs , did you see it?

I was there, Archie took it seriously and I think the wrestler was sort of amazed that the old man could find him and hit him so easily. I think he thought he could "athlete" his way to looking competitive. It was like a grown man beating a child for 3 rounds. Nice to see Archie retire on a high note. He was anything but washed up but he had nothing more to prove.

Great post Seamus. Edit your post though, so the list is alphabetical and not in #1 to #25 order. That way, Kidlefty can tabulate the results quicker.

Finally.....the time has come....for my official ballot!!!!!!
I tried to incorporate a ratio into my picks that roughly reflects the all-time talent level (in my eyes) of the 8 staple divisions. So, for example, there won't be 15 middleweights on my list, but there won't be only 1 or 2 either. There will, however, only be 1 or 2 flyweights and bantamweights on my list, considering the comparative shallowness of those divisions with the others over the course of boxing history.
Anyhow, here are my picks.
Muhammad Ali
Alexis Arguello
Henry Armstrong
Wilfred Benitez
Jack Britton
Panama Al Brown
Ezzard Charles
Jack Dempsey (The Nonpareil)
Joe Gans
Kid Gavilan
Marvin Hagler
Eder Jofre
Benny Leonard
Joe Louis
Rocky Marciano
Carlos Monzon
Archie Moore
Willie Pep
Sugar Ray Robinson
Jack Root
Salvador Sanchez
Michael Spinks
John L. Sullivan
Mickey Walker
Jimmy Wilde

Good so far, I count ten valid ballots, and two incompletes. Not bad for the first day and a half. I hope that all of the most knowledgable fight fans here at BoxRec will contribute by the January 25th deadline.
Who will make the inaugural class????

A bit of a slowdown, but there's still plenty of time. Remember, you can edit your ballots right up until the 25th, so don't be shy.

I mean, I respect your opinion of course, but Nino Valdes, Jerry Quarry, Jack Renault, George Chuvalo on the ballot and not Ezzard, Ali, Jack Johnson, etc.?

Well, they said to list them alphabetically. Did'ja notice how I found a name for each letter of the alphabet?
And I figured, let everyone else pick the usual suspects. These guys, by the mere spilling of their own blood, deserve to be honoured in a Hall of Fame.

Dear friends, all my excuses for you, but, as can anyone mentioned only 25 and don't be unjust? An option is the top 50 or 70 for each one, and after the voting, to select, by quantity, the 25 with more votes
