Well I think , Warrens done us a favor, First of all dispite what he says about wanting a fight with Floyd he's now talking about 2 warm ups, wel there they are .
Rabah won't last 3 rnds with Hatton , and Mybaye well don't know too much about him but from all acounts Hatton should win , regarding rematch clauses he don't have too sign them and if they insist well its a legal way out for Hatton.

Facts are they are different organizations and if they have mandatorys they deserve there shot just like Hatton got his, He can always dump the belts after all he's at the stage where he just like Floyd is bigger than the belt

This court ruling is irrelevant. It merely a lower court in New York giving an interim ruling on the WBA title.

It does not stop Hatton fighting at all, merely the WBA sactioning it. Bernstein will have zero chance of success in trying to stop Hatton fighting at all, unless it is against M'Baye: that would be a clear case of restraint of trade against Hatton.

All this talk of Hatton ducking Mayweather amuses me - this is a man who fought Kostya Tszyu FFS!! I bumped into Hatton in Vegas at the weigh-in for the Taylor v Hopkins fight. I asked him if he fancied fighting Mayweather, unless he is a better actor than boxer, he was pretty convincing in saying yes...

Don't get too caught up on the deductive reasoning. Tszyu does not equate to Mayweather. Hatton declined to fight Mayweather on more than one occasion and the discussions were quashed by camp Hatton before they even made it to the negotioating table. At the very least Hatton is wary of fighting Mayweather a lot more than he is putting on for publicity's sake, and very rightfully so.

Also, don't you diss Hatton's potential as an actor. The Tszyu KD which was sort of half-ruled as a "low-blow" was some of the best acting we've seen in the ring. Subtle yet substantial and the replay will always prove it. He must have been some kind of thespian at some stage

Wee in between fights, he is certainly an artist of some sort....

Max - I don't think we are disagreeing on much. Hatton certainly doesn't want Mayweather as his next fight - and nor should he. But I do think he'll fight him at some stage, probably in the late Autumn.

maxpow- where do you nget your inside information from? u say that hatton has declined the mayweather fight on more than one occasion? u must have some decent connections in the fight game.in effect, you are saying hatton is ducking him.you say that hatton fighting tszyu has no bearing on his courage to fight mayweather,i for one cant see this.tszyu was recognised as undisputed 140lb champion, and was the most feared fighter in the division.you cannot compare mayweathers achievements at 140 to tszyus, not yet anyway.i think people are getting slightly carried away with pbf,i do not doubt the mans incredible skills and movement, but his last 3 fights have been total mismatches, could say hand picked.as for warren? well,he is acting like a big kid on this matter!it's embarrasing,he cant accept that hatton is moving on to bigger and better things(likely to sign with golden boy.p)allegedly is great selling out arenas in our country, but he doesnt like to venture across the pond, which is necessary as the US is where its all at in the fight game.hatton should vacate the titles rather than fight these 2 unknowns.

Inside information? Not at all, I've just been following the potential match-up very closely. Hatton's dad Ray also admits that they turned down offers to fight Mayweather in 2005. But that's all old news from last year. You might still be able to dig up some old articles about that on the net. I had a number of links on the topic but lost them in the ESB server crash.

Hatton is the 140 pound champ. Mayweather is the #1 contender at 140 pounds. If we were back in the days when there was only one title for each weight class, Hatton would have been stripped for not agreeing to fight Mayweather as soon as possible.

On Mayweather's "hand-picked" opponents: I wouldn't say that his opponents are hand-picked. Mayweather has been wanting to make big fights but two of the biggest opponents (Hatton, Mosley) he has been earnestly pursuing have both declined as of 2005.

Mosley said he will need 2 tune-ups before considering a Mayweather fight. The latest on Hatton is that he is close to signing with Hobson to fight Gatti, Castillo and Rabah. We all know what happened with Judah. So all that's hardly his fault. The only person Mayweather might be avoiding is Margarito and from camp Mayweather's point of view, its most likely a matter of too much risk for not much reward.

The WBA belt becomes meaningless as soon as Hatton drops it - any hassle involving timewasting with MBaye and he should bin it. He's still the real champ as far as the fans and networks are concerned.

I've no problem with Hatton not wanting to face PBF right up next - he's just arrived on the world stage, and fair enough if he wants to make money off a few defences before facing the best fighter on the planet.

Dont want to see him in with the washed up Gatti though. He should take on a Castillo, Harris or Corrales first.
The fight I'd still love to see is Hatton/Cotto.

It's unlikely Mayweather is going to face him next, so there's no reason for him not to go ahead and take care of the WBA mandatory and stick it to Warren again by whipping the Frenchman.

Pah! fornicate Mosley, he's washed up man. He's never going to be the fighter he was. Mayweather was piss all over Mosley from a great height. Mosley couldn't get his punches off at all in recent fights, and Mayweather is faster than anyone he's faced in his career since fighting at lightweight.

It's not much better than Hatton facing Gatti in my opinion. Big name fighter who is not really elite level any longer, only difference is that once upon a time Mosley was regarded as a top p4p fighter.]

Let Hatton and Mayweather keep winning and make the fight at the end of this year or next year, and you've got a fornicating massive fight.

It could be very much like Leonard v Duran if that happens, both are still unbeaten and at the top of their game.

Mosley is apparently among those who Floyd is looking to fight. And I understand why. It fits the type of legacy he would like to leave behind, and is still one of the better fighters out there even at this statge in his career. I'd still pick Mosley over a number of fighters at 147... Gatti and probably over Rabah also for that matter, he not really all that washed up yet. Let's see the Vargas match before we make a final announcement on him.

Furthermore, it could possibly set-up a match with De La Hoya, the big one Mayweather has really been clamoring for. Everyone wants their Oscar payday, and Mayweather has earned it. As an event it would be huge. Had the Judah fight gone through as planned, De La Hoya would have been interested in fighting Mayweather for all the marbles at 147 pounds and has publicly expressed that. Right now a big win over Mosley would set that fight up nicely too. And, IMO Gatti was never really among the top-flight elites in the first place.

Hatton-Mayweather is already huge now without any tune-up fights, there is definitely no need for three. I wouldn't want to be disappointed all over again if Hatton lost a la Judah. Jose Luis Castillo ain't no chopped liver, and if he's focused, I pick Castillo against Hatton. One things for sure, it won't be no Hatton showcase.

You're obviously a big Mayweather fan I dont see why people cant be fans of both or at least give the pair of them a fair crack of the whip no matter who you like. Mayweather is still pursuing the Judah fight in April so he's as much to blame for the Hatton fight not happening immediately as the Hatton camp. Judah has no business being in the same ring with someone as good as Mayweather he will get an absolute shallacking.

Having been privy to an attempted signing of a top Cuban Heavyweight let me tell you this.......don't believe all you read.
There is no way to to confirm that Hatton and his people have scuppered a Mayweather fight.
I am a Hatton fan. However no way do I see him beating Mayweather. Floyd is the best. Sadly he's an asshole by all accounts aswell but such is life.
But the point is that Hatton is looking out for number 1. He's just become champ and wants a few good paydays before really risking it all.
PBF has fought guys who never really had a chance down through the years like Carlos Rios, Juatin Juuko, Carlos Genera, Emmanuel Augustus, Victoriano Sosa, Philip N'Dou and Henry Brusseles. He also fought faded fighters like Goyo Vargas and Sharmba Mitchel.
Hatton should fight his mandatory Rabbah. By all accounts he will be a big favourite to win that so its money in the bank. He should also get it on with the faded Arturo Gatti in the States and fight the capable M'Baye. He will get good paydays for all of those. If I was his manager I would do it. And then when he is comfortable with his possition as champ I would pursue the megafights with PBF, Cotto and Castillo.
I actually think Hatton-Cotto makes a better fight than PBF-Hatton as they are more evenly matched. The winner of that should go on to fight PBF. :TU:

So your going to take Warren's word as legally binding and above reproach? Mmmm......I don't see why. Wasn't the guy shot in a car park years ago? Suggests to me that Mr Warren isn't the most savoury and trustworthy of characters.
I mean Warren's story stinks of bullshit. Why would Mayweather sacrafice a much more lucrative fight against Gatti where a title was at stake against a non title hilder like Ricky. That is presuming the offer came in between the short period after Ricky won the title and sacked Warren. If it came in then you could understand why Hatton said no. I mean he has just won the title against a modern day great. Why would he immediatly jump into another one before even smelling the roses? And why hasn't PBF , not exactly the shy and retiring type, ever mentioned this? He could easily use it as a way of embarresing Ricky and he could use Warren as back up.
As for the Cotto fight.......why has Cotto never mentioned it? I saw an interview with him about a year ago on Sky. He was very humble. He said he wanted to fight Ricky....a few years down the line.
Warren's story stinks of desperation. He's lost his cash cow. All he has left are Danny 'Dough Boy' Williams and Matt 'Where's my pipe and slippers?' Skelton. Amir Khan is years off being anything and he knows that Calzaghe is likely to get wiped out in March. The real future of U.K. boxing such as David Haye, Carl Froch and Ricky Hatton have eluded him. The other fighters on the cusp of world level such as Howard Eastman, Nicky Cook, Jamie Moore and Junior Witter are also outwith his reach. Losing Naz was sore but losing Hatton, who he was with from day one, must be pretty devestating. Basically Frank is bitter and living in fantasy land.

Hatton is no closer to inking a deal with hobson and waterman as he is to inking a deal with golden boy promotions. Also the chances of Sports Networks Ben Rabah being a future Hatton opponent, especially with Fight Academy involved, is slim to none even thugh he is a mandatory. I think most of us should agree that it is promoters like Warren that have big fornicating chips on their shoulders, are damaging the sport and turning it into a bit of a joke! I wouldn't be surprised if Warren is losing a lot of his own money trying to screw Hatton over and piss him off!

Not as much about whether he wins or loses but how he looks in the ring. How is his speed; his timing, is it still there, et cetera For all we know he still has a couple good performances. Think about where he was ranked about only two years ago, three years ago, four years ago... That wasn't too far back. Winky would make most people look aweful.

It turns out Hatton was the WBO mandatory at the time. And also according to Bob Arum, Miguel Cotto was willing to go over to England to have the match.

Four years ago is a bloody long time in boxing. Most people knew Mosley was going to get beaten into a cocked hat by Wright.

Mosley is little more than a name these days.
