They both deserve critism for their opposition but at least Sven fought them first

In all these years as WBO champ this is the first time he has fought a fellow title holder and that's not good enough, Lacy is showing the balls to get on a plane and prove he is the best

No Calzaghe fought Pudwill first.

Lacy proving himself is also premature.

Nope sorry Sven was 2 years before Joe with the mighty Tocker

Who has Calzaghe proved his greatness against in your opinion?

Calzaghe was never willing to travel to fight Ottke, and vice versa.

Ottke, like it or not, fought better opposition. I think Calzaghe would have knocked him out, but that's not the point.

Fought Reid, Thornberry and Starie first though and beat them without rigged scorecards.

Sven was a fraud.

He hasn't fully proved his greatness but he has beat his opp more convingly than Lacy and Ottke and fought just as good opp as Ottke and beat them better than Ottke did and without robberies and rigged scorecards.

But ok he's fought Prime Sheika and Reid, fought Woodall, Brewer, Mitchell, Veit(not an opp for greatness but he's good) and Eubank although he was drained he was favoured.

They fought basically the same opp and Sven could hardly KO anyone.

actually i remember this arguement form the time the fight was being touted and then didnt happen and they had both fought the same fighters about the same amount of times and the same amount first and second., if you understand what i mean.

theres next to nothin in it

It's a shame that we have to discuss who had the better career out of Joe and Sven as I think everyone would agree Calzaghe had a lot more as a fighter.

I just feel it's too late for him to prove it and he's too used to the comfort zone

Personally i agree with James I just dont think he has earned the respect he craves, which is why the Lacy fight is so important.

I just dont think that years of sub par defences have helped him.

He shouldnt be getting decked by the likes of Saleem and after a promising early start to his career (Eubank, Woodhall, Sheika, Reid)
the quality of oppoenent has been distinctly sub par for a few years now.

This hasnt helped Joe has to face a fighter on the up, a hungry big determined strong f*cker, who wants to prove he is the best.

Tho I dont think Lacy is unbeatable Joe will have to be on his A game

if he beats Lacy kudos to him, he will have earned that respect, shame he couldnt have done it 2-3 years ago though against the likes of Larssen, Ottke (not all joe's fault), Kessler, Green, etc etc.The list is endless.

its not the fact he didnt fight the mega fights (RJJ/ Hopkins etc) that bothers me its the fact there were 10 better opponents than the likes of Jiminez and pudwill and little effort was made to make these fights while shoutng your mouth off over RJJ Nard Tarver whomever will listebn whith little or not chance of these fights being made.. He shouldl have cleaned up his own divison first prior to launching his mouth at real the p4p stars..

Still as said Lacy will be some kind of redemption should he be victorious.

Personally I have a friggin clue who will win. Tho for british boxing' I hope its Joe.

Thats not to say I don't rate Kessler, but I do rate Larsen.
Larsen WAS very good - but it won't do him or us any good as he's probably never gonna get another pro-fight. He's been fucked over big time by Team Palle and to some extend his own pride and stubbornness.

Having said that, Kessler was for years, before all that shit happened, considered the better talent by those who knew both of them well.
After Kessler had won the belt (and Larsen's dispute with Palle had begun) - He was offered to fight Kessler by Team Palle. Now he probably wouldn't have been paid much - but it was at least a chance to get the title and redeem himself.
Well Larsen declined - a good guess being that he didn't rate his chances against Kessler. Could be other reasons playing part though. (legal stuff - think he's still got something going vs. Team Palle)
ehh - gotta correct myself on this one. News in tonight that Larsen and Palle has ended their legal dispute in agreement. Larsen is now released of his contract and free to go and box whereever. Larsen not completely sure yet, if he will actually return to the ring.
The dispute started when Palle replaced the injured Larsen with Kessler against Siaca for the WBA-belt. Larsen has been forced to inactivity ever since.

This isn't the genral board and why say it's moronic because it's someones rightful opinion?

No point in that. :-?
What's your problem junior? And when did I say this was the general board? Anybody else would realise that I was simply stating that I rarely check the general board as it's where guys like this come from.

Understand now?

Good boy.
