LOL! How do you know me so well alp?
Is there interest in picking this up again?
A great thing about it is there can be a long break, and then we can still pick up where we left off.

Whats the hell, after all the bitching that was done last time about Packy McFarland not making it, and he didnt make it again?
Posted: 22 May 2007, 14:25
by Ambling Alp
This kind of thing happens. A few people might feel very strongly that a guy should make it; but there simply isn't enough of them. This time McFarland only missed by 1 vote. He is getting close.

A fighter has to be retired 10 years before becoming eligible. Leonard just became eligible (his last fight was in March of 1997) and he was elected in this past election.
Duran's last fight was in 2001 so he won't be eligible until 2011.
Chavez' last fight was in 2005 so he won't be eligible until 2015.

This will clear up some space for a new set of guys to make it.
I think there will be 1 or 2 more clear elections (the process, not just 2 inductees), after that though all of the obvious cadidates will be used up.

It's important that the Original Jack Dempsey be instated this time around.
