That could be the case being hit on the Temple, it all looked very weird, so could explain it. If there was something up, I'd not think Graham would have known about it.

It got people thinking when the betting was closed because of the weird betting pattern going on and then a finish like that happened in the rounds that were closed.

For the sake of Boxing, it would be better if the truth is that Gomez really did not know what was going on. Gomez in his wild ways has been exciting for Boxing, thats not something he'd need to be tagged with.

I was thinking of driving down, but I'm saving myself for Manchester and the Magee card in Belfast.

Looked a good one, I was watching it on RTE between all the ITV fights.

Was tipped off about this yesterday by a London former British title challenger who shall remain nameless. Couldn't get a bet on when I rang around. Apparently there was any amount of money on Gomez losing between 5 and 7. Not seen the fight so still in the dark but given that Gomez is now not attached to anyone promoter wise and on the way down it makes sense that he's got himself one last payout. Too many coincidences for this to be mere chance in my view. If it waddles like a duck and quacks like a duck it's very rarely a penguin, if u know what I mean...

I was just watching it again this morning strangest finish I have ever seen. I just cant believe this is the same Gomez who thrilled us all with his gutsy displays and heart to do something like this

I definitely think something is us with this fight. With Gomez on his way out and a major payday not in the works with this fight, he was probably looking to make some bucks before he called it quits. I don't think McDonough's pay should get withheld since he was just on the lucky end of the decision.

I got a PM from a person called dont call it a comeback wanting to call the bet off. This was about 1-2 weeks before the Hatton fight so I called off the bet. I would pay up if this didn't happen.

I don't see why everyone thinks Gomez took a dive, surely if he was doing that he;d have made a better job of it... had he won this fight he would have been in line for some decent paydays, ...he just ran out of steam and quit, simple as that....

Have just watched the fight, If it was a fix, then surely Gomez would have gone out in a more convincing way, it was definatly a strange ending.

In recent Fights Gomez has shown an increasing lack of stamina and punch resistance... its hardly a surprise that he could be stopped last night and the 5th to 7th round would be naturally the rounds where you'd think that Gomez would run out of steam after perhaps a decent start.....

How have you managed to get the payout ? if the fight is under investigation then the bookies won't payout on the fight till that is resovled, who did you bet with?

Sorry bud, I didnt make myself clear. I didnt mean that as a slur on the boxing scene in Dublin.

What I meant was that a rumour quickly becomes a "fact" in Dublin. Usually at Leopardstown an hour before the first race...

The picture says plenty to me. Could easily be wrong but McDonagh looks very confused there while Gomez is almost affording himself a smile. I GENUINELY was told to back Gomez to lose between 5 and 7 on the afternoon of the fight. Two different people rang me about it. Now they were either 'shrewdies' of the highest order (given McDonagh's record going in) or they knew more than Joe Public did. Neither men (on a pro London boxer) normally has a bet on fights. Still reckon it's a coincidence?

It's obvious what happened: Uri Geller, sitting ringside, put the hoodoo on Gomez.

McDonagh even admits Uri helped him from ringside.

Uri caught Gomez' eye with the the old spinning mojo eye ball trick, hypnotsied him into thinking he was actualy in a pub rather than a fight, where upon Gomez turned around in the belief he was on his way to the bar to get a round in.

I think this is the only logical explanation.

Well, don't call it a comeback is a really common name so I can see how this misunderstanding might happen. Of course, my mistake, must have been one of my namesakes calling the bet off. My cousin don't callit a a mccomeback from Scotland perhaps - just to make mischief.

Look, if you are gonna rat on this wager from the safety of your PC at least have the good sense to just disappear. And if you are gonna make up a story at least make it plausible. And something that isn't contradicted by the evidence - I actually posted on the Tuesday before the fight suggesting we deposit the cash with a trusted third party - a request you ignored - and on the morning after the fight.
