Hi Max, fair enough u feel that the lad could not take a punch, but am wondering what makes u come to that conclusion? Cos I presume that would rely on you knowing that the punch that floored him was not genuinely powerful enough. Not sure how u would come to that conclusion unless Khan through the exact same punch against a fighter well known for having a granite chin. My point is we can only go on what he did in that fight and there was everything to suggest that it was a hard punch. Looked powerful and fast - knocked him off his feet, dazed the guy.

The punch was not that good to put him down. It looked like Martynov's lack of balance did it than Khan's feather punches.

I know he's only in with Journymen at the moment but give him a guy who can punch and have chin.

Was stopped a bit early he was doing all that blinking before the fight.

The Gethin fight shouldn't of even been stopped at that time it was just Khan's speed bothering him not his punch.

If Khan gets beat then people will start saying he turned pro too early too.

Sorry fist, but if you get stopped by Willie Blain then there have to be questions over your chin.


Khan's very good but there's hot talk about him stepping up to championship level now whereas a decent domestic light-welter would be a good start.

Too early for that and he ain't old enough for a domestic title even if he beat the guy.

You don't know what you're talking about, the guy has fought mostly at 130... just because he came in at the same weight doesn't make him a natural 140 fighter!.... Mcguigan said as much after the fight....

It was shit matchup in my opinion. What did khan learn against fighting someone like that! sweet FA!, you can judge someone by their record, but because they have one 11 fights 7 by KO or whatever his record was, dosn't mean to say that he is good fighter and it's Khans toughest test yet - rubbish!, The fella could have fought 11 bums and knocked seven of them out, dosn't make him good, would you rate Audley? after all looking at the stats on his record its great int it!

Sorry mate, but just because I criticise Khan doesn't make me jealous of him, wake up! he hasn't done anything to be jealous of yet!. If you had any sense you may realise I am actually concerned about the kids development as a fighter, ...if Khan gets tripped up when he finnally fights someone who can hit back don't tell me I didn't tell you so!

Didn't look a very hard shot that put the Russian over, and I thought he deserved an Golden Globe nomination for his dazed & confused performance when he found his feet.

Another thing that worries me about Khan is how he already seem to have one eye on retiring!!!... I've never known a fighter so early in his career talk about retirement, ...it doesn't really bode well imo...

He's quoted on Teletext as saying he will retire at 26?.... this is about the 4th time I've heard him talk about retirement. If he's thinking about it now I dont see him boxing till he's 26... once he's made some monay and the training becomes harder he'll do a Hamed...

Either way Khan will have learnt nothing from that fight. They kept making a big deal about it being his first six round fight, but the distance is of no relevence if the opponent can last untill the final bell.

I shall reserve my final judgement on Khans World class potention untill he has been in with better and much more durable oppotition.

Thanks for that. Caught up with things now - he's going to peak when he's "21 or 22" so that retiral age makes sense

I recall many a young prospect saying they will retire before they are 30, but they seldom, that's just human nature, no big deal.

What we think and say at 18 has often little bearing on how and where we are at 30.
