As i said on the Beyer-Colejanni topic i really cannot see the point in Beyer even fighting still. He sits at home in Germany with absolutely no intentions to travel or unify keeping the WBC happy defending his belt against no marks, unworthies and undeserving has beens. His fights are dull with little excitement, why doesn't he just retire and save us all the hassle? Or the WBC put some value into their titles and give him a decent mandatory, preferably someone who will take his head off and take that frigging belt out of the country with him :box: :D

Beyer is reported to getting €1mill per defense of his title, that is a really good argument to keep boxing.

steve689 wrote:Yeah it was a bit of a mad first fight, Green decked Beyer twice early and opened a cut with a punch? He then blatantly headbutted Beyer in the fifth and got disqualified because Beyer's cut was too bad to continue, even though that was the first cut from previous....have i got that right? It's been a while :D
That should of went to the scorecards as it usally does in that situation. Green got screwed then!

Well no, this is where the rulings got brought in. They said the cut that stopped the fight was as a result of the earlier headbutt. Were that the case, the ruling was correct.

In most rulings, a deliberate headbutt which causes a fight stopping cut results in a DQ. I think that is correct anyway.

However, in this case, everyone who saw the fight that i know of, said the initial cut was caused by a butt, but the fight stopping cut was caused by a punch.

Klitschko Vs Williamson got stopped on a cut by a heabutt but went to the cards? :-?

If the first cut caused it why didn't they stop it earlier?

Seemed dodgey enough for the WBC to order a rematch.

Yes, but the butt was accidental.....

In the event of a DELIBERATE butt the rules are different.

Gary_V wrote:I'm interested by Green's less than agressive-minded comments, given his previous animosity.

How do you read into that? Is it a ploy or has he lost his pssion for the job?

I agree that Green may have lost something by his courageous heart on sleeve attitude to fighting, proper fight or in a gym, no matter a la Vargas.

I was intrigued by Mundine's "blue-collar man" etc points. I've heard he's extremely unpopular, PARTICULARLY with those of aboriginal descent.

Green may be worn and Mundine may have the footwork/running scared style but Green is a tough fighter and Mundine has a weak jaw - Ottke and Siaca.

Also I think Green overtrained for feather-fisted Beyer and if his training is good he could ctach up with Mundine...
Whoever told you that was pulling your plonker.

That photo along with one they had in another newspaper makes Mundine out to be what he is - wannabe gangster

Here's hoping Green comes on in the later rounds when Mundine slows down

No way does this fight have to right to beat the Fenech - Nelson's 37,000 record attendance from '92 :x

You know a lot about Choc, do you mate? Sure, he's got a big mouth and often has his foot in it but his hearts in the right place. He's always promoting sport as beneficial to aboriginal youth as a means of avoiding the traps many fall into. Idle hands etc.

Rather than being a "wannabe gangster", he's a religious family man isn't he?

He's just wearing a funny outfit to promote the fight.

Cut the guy a bit of slack.

P.S. For the record i think i am one of the only people around (maybe stujones too?) who had Green winning the rematch!
I had it even but in Germany i new it would go to Beyer.

I havn't seen any of this shop worn Green, He looked great in his last fight landed great combo's and big rights although Garcia is a limited fighter he was scared to throw punches in some rounds as he was getting beaten so badly. I saw green in a public training session and he looked great, He sure hits the mits hard and i wouldn't fancy taking the rips to the body he throws.

My money's on Green. He looks a very strong guy at super middle and seems to have a better chin than Mundine. Should be a cracking atmosphere, regardless. Anyone know is Sky are televising?

Doubt it mate, SKY lost interest in the division after Calzaghe cleared it out and ruled it for so many years.

Green got screwed the cut was caused by a straight right in the 2nd round, The headbut in the 5th was on Beyers cheek and not even close to the cut. At first they took of a point then a second point because it was deliberate. After this Green was still ahead on the cards and the Germans had Clancy surrounded and virtually forced him to disquilify Green. I swear i thought fenech was going to KO somebody, He was abusing Clancy and the german promoters wouldn't go anywere near him.

Green has shown a lot of restraint in interviews when mundine is bought up, he keeps saying he has no problem with anthony and would like to talk to him after the fight ect.
while i think that's good sportsmanship on dannys behalf it appears to me that mundine genuinley HATES Danny, he was saying danny represnts "White oppression" or some bullshit like that.

a lot of people think also that anthony is begining to blossum as a fighter and danny may be on the slide.
i dont really think danny has declined to much, if any at all.
i can see the anthony probaly opening up a small margin on the cards while danny comes at him all night and i can see danny catching him sooner or later with crushing blows, and belive me Danny WANTS to hurt mundne, he just being polite for the cameras, all anthonys taunts and bullshit are pissing him off, but he wont let that angher get to him, and hopfully he fights a smart fight but dosnt leave it to late ie the beyer fight.

anyway this fight should have happened in 2003

All the talk here is about Mundine, This is good for Green as he seems to fight better when he is the underdog.
All the reports are saying how quick Mundine is but this didn't help him Vs Kessler Siaca or Ottke. He is quick but dosn't like being put under pressure and jabbed which are 2 things Green does well.
The more i think about it i think Green BY 8-9 round KO.
Hopfully it dosn't get called off as im booking tickets to fly over and see it :P .

Very interesting fight, Mundine is quick but Green is'nt excatly slow. Green has the better chin and the harder punch, but its hard to catch Mundine clean,A lot don't know it but Fenechs way of out and out agresion he drummed into Green did'nt do a lot for Danny ,

Green himself when he boxes is a very effective counter puncher, Mundine don't like agresion but he uses it to counter , Don't be suprised if Green decides to come out and counter punch Mundine , to start with at least, Choc is;nt too sure about leading off with guys at this level , he looks good against lower opponents but here he will cop a hard one.

What makes this intriguing is both of them will go for it if they think there on top, I can't pick a winner here but if it comes down too heart , Greens the man, Mundine well he just has'nt got the ticker to put it on the line when he has too .

Mundine well he wants to look good and talk good thats more important than winning , Dany well looks don't come into it he just wants to win.

Very very interesting matchup just 3 years too late,

I agree i can't see Mundine having the heart to beat Green. Green new trainer is far better than Fenech and i think we will see a far better gameplan from Green.

I agree, 3 years ago Mundine was just a novice and Green was awaiting a world title shot.

Mundine sounds overated to me his biggest wins are over guys with Journymen records and best win is Echols.

Green seems to have destryoed better fighters although both still fight journymen for wins.

Novice when Both of them challenged for a title in the 11th bouts? :-?
