Yeah, I find the difference between Ali in the first and third Parky interviews quite shocking.... when you say that he doesn't walk anymore is he wheelchair bound? I hadn't heard that. In the latter stages of parkinsons sufferers find it increasingly difficult to eat as the muscels in the throat go I think...
That sports personality '78 sounds interesting, would you like to swap a copy for something?.... I've got lots of fights and interviews on Ali... including his '79 this is your life proggram which is very rare.... also Ali and Frazier being interviewed by Parky before their 2nd fight...

He was in a driven to his seat in a golf buggy to watch his daughter fight on the Ruiz bill. He did stand (with some assistance) to acknowledge the crowd and sort of shuffled to his seat. I don't think he's wheel chair bound yet, but it takes so long for him.

I'll see if I can find the sports personality interview. It was a celebration show on the history of the sports personality (I think it was 40 years) not the recent 50 years and it featured all of Ali's apparences/interviews on the show. It is a matter of finding it though.

Chuvalo hasn't got dementia... he's one of the sharpest ex fighters I know... Terence is perhaps getting George mixed up with Jerry Quarry...

Late last year at the opening of his Louisville Museum many of Ali's people wanted him to make his grand enterence on the opening night in a buggy/electric wheelchair due to his very slow and awkward movement these days.

However Ali would have none of it and walked with the help of his wife etc.

You really have to admire the man. Many people with his problems would shy away from people yet Ali continues to fight his health issues and stand in the glare of the worlds media knowing full well most people remember what and incredable athlete he once was.

One of the most moving moments in sport I have ever seen was when Ali lit the Olympic torch in 1996. I am sure I was not the only one of the many millions watching around the World thinking "Is he going to drop that torch?". But of course he didn't and I even felt a little guilty for doubting The Greatest.

The man is a fighter to the very core of his soul..

Thats what I was thinking as I was of the understanding George was in fine health and still a very, very tough man.

Chuvalo has had a terrible life outside the ring too, to come through what he's come through in and out of the ring shows what a tough fornicator he is.
