althought i wouldnt refer to anyone marciano faced as a "middleweight". marciano never faced a guy that weighed less than 175lb.
Wrong. Marciano fought Bob Jefferson who weighted only 172lbs (12 stone 2lbs). Rocky was only 178lbs (12 stone 7lbs) for this fight.

I just divided 172lbs by 14 (14lb in a stone) which is 12.28 and 178lbs divided by 14 is 12.71

Yes.
There are 14 pounds in a stone.
Gotta love those old units of measurement. What about 2 bits? Isn't that 25 cents? A bit seems almost as unusual as a stone.

Try to remember this...a biography is not the be all, end of of a fighters career and as is evident a lot down through history, a lot of times a biography about a certain fighter is just complete horseshit...a good case in point is "The Devil and Sonny Liston" by Nick Toshes...the biggest percentage of that book is rubbish...it is just one example of why you should never take any one thing as the absolute fact!

Dont believe everything you read... certainly when the writer says that Rocky hit like Liston... he didnt!... and its a crime really to say he did... watch their fights!... Liston was by far the heavier and faster puncher.... Rocky was a waer them down brawler who often didnt get 'going' till the 3rd or 4th rounds...
