That sounds pants to be honest... how often do you see fights ended with two punches??. The whole idea of these big punches is unrealistic and makes the playability very predictable and boring after a while, I think the only people who will prefer this sort of gameplay will be kid of about 12 to 14... which may be a reason why the haymaker has been pursued so much by EA... :x :x :x

What seems to have happened I think is that they have gone down the same route as Tiger Woods, removing realism in favour of the gimmicky system they employ in most of their sports sims.

All the stuff with the boxing boots which improve your agility and so on is a pretty stupid idea, it's just to try and make things more customisable. It would be better if you were able to customise your fighter by training.

For instance, what about hiring a specific type of sparring partner to improve speed, agility, power etc? A rugged bullrushing opponent to learn timing your punches better.

The training at the moment just sort of gets in the way of the game, as opposed to being satisfying mini games in their own right.

You could make the training really interesting by having a whole training camp designed to tune specific aspects of your fighters abilities.

God I'd love to work on this title as a designer, could turn it into the best sports sim ever.

What about managing the fighters diet too? That would be something new to boxing games.

I hope they do something about the haymaker system too, on Fight Night Round 2 I could win the round by just throwing 50+ haymakers. Maybe they could run a timer in between big haymakers.

If they do the customising player the same way as tiger woods 2006 that would be awesome :)

Thats the maddening thing, the technology is there to produce a really awesome game and even with all their faults the Fight Nights are still pretty addictive, but they could be so much better.
And why not have a record so you can see all the fights your fighter has had and those of the other fighters, I'm sure that wouldn't be impossible.
And why are you only able to fight once a year when you win a title??... stupid!.
The training aspects are pretty dire in the Fight Night games... but this could be a game in itself if it was done properly.
I think a lot of people on this forum could improve on the FN games, sometimes I wonder how many boxing matches the people behind these games have actually watched!!... :x

fornicate all is my guess. They probably did a bit of research, but that is unlikely to give them enough knowledge to do the sport justice.

We are probably expecting too much.

There's no reason why you couldn't have an option to record either entire fights or even just highlights to a showreel for your fighter, after all the Xbox has a massive hard disk embedded in it.

You could easily have a selection for 'simple' or 'realistic' training.

The thing I've always hated about Tiger Woods and Fight Night, is the way your character just gets better and better, it's not realistic, and you can normally get pretty close to maxing all the stats out.

That's fine for the more casual player, but how about doing it right for someone who is a serious fan of the sport.

The idea of recording the fights is something I've thought about too! :o 8) I have a game 'Motorcross madness' for the PC and one of the best thing about it is you can record your whole races and then play them back... I'm sure the technology exists that you could have the option to record your fights.

Christ, they had the feature years ago in the old PGA 96, you could record entire holes or single shots.

I'm seriously thinking whether or not to boycott it this year, though having said that, chances are i'll buy it just like I do every year. If so, i'm definately staying put until the PS3 version is released, which graphically, looks good enough to give me an orgasm.

But as already stated by others, i'm no fan of this haymaker thing, it's very unrealistic I think and makes it feel more like an arcade game rather than a realistic boxing simulation. I'm slowly losing faith in EA, but if the tactical side of things and the boxer movement is improved, I will be a happy gamer.

Another nice addition would be for the European version to finally have the online mode which the Americans have been enjoying since FN:Rnd1.

Cos I didn't like using the analogue sticks, in the last version I couldn't even use the haymaker. But the game was piss easy. All you had to do was parry your oppenents punch, smack him twice, rinse and repeat.

I long for a more indepth career option. But, EA are pretty fookin crap when it comes to games these days. They're all bout the benjamins and not much else.

There is a play station 3?

I'm not upto date on these things - I still got my Commodore 64 and Barry McGuigan's boxing - you cannot beat that.

I had a go a Rocky with my mate a few weeks back, that was a piece of piss - I completed the game first go on hard and only lost to one bloke.
