Well Dijibbaba is a s-featherweight so you never know he may just get the call in 18mnths or so
Jackson did not really try anything till the end of the 2nd, and when Khan rushes in he is wide open, wasn`t this how he got knocked down in the amateurs
Still not convinced he has dynamite power like the ITV team keep trying to convince us, this level of opponents he should be scoring devastating stoppages...real leg wobblers, but almost all his stoppages have seen the guy on their feet...without the wobbly legs
Let us see who his next opponent is, another non-puncher who has been stopped by another non-puncher seems to be the genre so far...any suggestions?

Khans CLEARLY got power. Ffs he used to score ko's with the big amatuer gloves on. Another thing you guys don't seem to be taking into account is that these guys are coming along to survive with gloves high. If these guys drop their gloves and start trying to fight with him they would get picked off in a flash. That guy Mitchell fought last night wouldn't last 3 rounds with Khan simply because he comes foward and throws punches. And Khans got good power, unlike Mitchell...

Khans a potential champ albeit an overly hyped one. His power is Vitali like - it will break an opponent down over several rounds. Hes not concussive powerpuncher ala Hamed/Benn and he never will be that doesn't mean he can't be world class - Winky Wright wouldn't destroy this level of comp but hes on P4P lists.mulder wrote:Still gullible as ever i see.............Lefthookhappy19 wrote:Khans CLEARLY got power. Amatuer gloves are heavy, 10oz??? Has he ever even used a pair?
Khan weighs 9st, wheres he gettin power from? Hes lightin fast and with that speed brings some weight to his punch but being powerful? I think not!
Think back to ur school days and Newtons first law of motion:
F=ma (force = mass x acceleration) and plz dont tell me science is wrong!!
This will prove he has little power compared to a reall puncher!
Dont get me wrong, i tought he boxed really well and I think his future opponents need to start roughin him up and fightin in close to see how he handles it (this has already been mentioned in the post).
I have been reading these threads and it seems ppl are really confussing the definition of the word 'POWER'
If someone is powerful they can exert a greater force over a shorter period of time! Hence heavier fast boxers such as Tyson, Holyfield are extremly powerful boxers!
Saying a 9st guy is powerful is wrong unless he is an extremly strong individual (and the majority arent). Rememmber, these guys are fighting other 9st boxers who are equally as physically weak as they are!
It seems ppl confuss the difference between power and skill. These guys are extremly skillfull and if u keep gettin hit by this guys ur gunna go down, the body isnt designed to be whacked!
and for all those that are gunna tell me ppl like Naz are strong, he wasnt!
Just extremly fast and skillful!

What the hell are you goin on about?? When we talk of punchers we are talking about him in the context of his division. Obviously a heavyweight is going to hit harder than a lightweight. Naz was a KO puncher full stop. He hit hard (for his division) and was accurate.
They don't allow hand taping in amatuer boxing plus they have headguards. They give standing counts and strongly discourage power punching in favour of quick scoring shots. Knocking guys out while amateur (at 17) imo clearly shows he's got power...

No, hes not as powerful as everyone is making out he is! Great he knocked out opponents as an amatuer (how old and experienced were they), how good where these apponents? We will see just how 'powerful' he really is wen he's ready to fight against some conditioned opponents! Besides all of his opponents have been scared and intimerdated from round one, none of them have even attempted to fight with him.Lefthookhappy19 wrote:What the hell are you goin on about?? Someone plz corrrect me if i'm wrong but in pro fights u where 8oz gloves. Thats a difference of 2oz. 2oz, do u know how much difference that makes none! Head guards give u little protection against a punch, there designed to stop u gettin cut not protect ur brain!
I wasnt comparing Tyson with Kharn (obvioulsy he hits harder) but was using them as an example of what real power is. Im sorry but these smaller guys just arent powerful. Stop using the word!!!

Khan is a lot like Calzaghe in the way he has very fast hands and throws bunches of punches, but it's not clear yet whether he has real one punch knockout power. We'll only get a better idea of that when he steps up the level of his competition and actually needs to land that one big shot. Right now he's blowing away inferior opposition by overwhelming them with speed and workrate as much as power, but then he's only 19 and has plenty of time for both his technique and natural strength to improve to the point where he can bang people out with the best of 'em.
I`ll repeat myself once more..
He would be getting devastating KO`s if he hit as hard as ITV are trying to convince us...these opponents are there to be KO`ed, whoever thinks differently are deluding themselves to the truth.
His weight category is a tough one on the world scene and without a world class punch the odds are stacked right against him....and what has he even shown to be talked up as a future world champion?...silver medalist...that don`t mean a thing nowadays.....Ireland had a gold medalist not so long ago...and what did he do?

To Mulder, I've been reading this thread and I am disgusted at how rude and offensive you are just because someone has a different opinion to you.
As for the topic of Khan and power, well as someone else mentioned, after only six pro fights it is difficult to accurately assess his power. He needs better opponants and longer matches. Nonetheless, at this stage there are quite a lot of indicators to suggest that he has plenty of power and the scope for getting stronger - 5 TKOs. Just a note on technical KOs, yep his opponents have beat the count, but if the refs had let them carry on, these TKOs would be KOs. He is very very fast and fluent, which contributes to his power. As for the notion that smaller people can't be powerful, thats crazy talk, Naz 5 foot 3 and had devastating power.
As mentioned, as he progresses we will get a much more informed insight his strength and as I said in a previous post, heavy hitters don't always achieve KOs in the first few rounds do they? Khan has a shorter amount of time to execute a KO. Having said that he has disposed of all his opponents inside the distance, bar one.

I think he's an accident waiting to happen to be honest - He has such a long way to go, but he's been aired on prime time itv as some kind of saviour to British boxing, and I don't see it.
As many people have said he's wide open, and it's just asking for trouble - He's under so much pressure to perform for the camera's that I can't see how he is going to eradicate his flaws.

because hes the Olympic silver medalist and greatest future hope to grace the lightweight division...ever!Twinkle Toes wrote:I think he's an accident waiting to happen to be honest - He has such a long way to go, but he's been aired on prime time itv as some kind of saviour to British boxing, and I don't see it.

It will be intresting to see how he handles gettin punched back! I will reserve my judgement till then:box:
(still dont think hes powerful)
Seen Mayweathers first 6 fights and he was good... Will have to rewatch them since I haven't seem them in a while but I think Khan has looked just as good as Mayweather did in the first 6 fights.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote: Don't get me wrong Khans talent is huge hes just not a puncher hes more of a PBF/Hatton sort of accumulation job. OMG so by your logic Naseem Hamed, Corrales and Castillo have no power. A puncher has power relative to his weight class obviously a lightweight doesn't have heavyweight power but he can have huge lightweight power. Khan has decent but not awesome lightweight power - power is something that grows with age though.Adoniss wrote:I can quite assure u i am not mouder. Yes, force = mass x acceleration...when the lightweights are punching faster, it makes up for the less mass of their hand travelling. And the fact that comparing a lightweight puncher to a heavyweight is a bit ridiculous seeing as one can be 2 times heavier than the other. Taken in relative terms, I guarantee the hardest punchers today are below the LightHeavy class.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:OMG so by your logic Naseem Hamed, Corrales and Castillo have no power. Interesting I'll have to look through forums to download a few of his early bouts. Its all about how Khan matures, he may be world class in a few years he may become complacent, time will tell.Smit wrote:Seen Mayweathers first 6 fights and he was good... On a sidenote I saw a 5fight 140lb black boxer named Rock Allen on KO TV the other week that kid had incredible power - looked like the 140lb Tyson. Khan doesn't have power anywhere in that league. But then again Allen could be outboxed
