Livra Hattons the true champ regardless if you think any of them 3 beat him.

I think both boxers have the ability on their best day to cancel each other out style wise.
Witter can move on the backfoot well and use reach to pick and counter but then Hatton has the style to cut his footwork off, bring him into the trenches.
Witter has shown suspect stamina/Hatton has fantastic grinding-down stamina.
I'd go with Hatton, based on recent form and overall accomplishments.
I don't think is too absurd a thread - this fight, if made, would perhaps be the most exciting fan's fight realistically available at the moment.
Plus, would sell very well ABROAD, considering the new-found UK interest...

Vitali was "The MAN" of his division.
Roy Jones was "The MAN" in his division because he was clearly number one at 160 and 168. I believe he was "The MAN" at 175 as well because he would have handled Mickalchewski IMO.
So, basically, you pick and choose? Hatton isn't the man, because you think others would beat him, and he just has the one win, fair enough. But you then claim Vitali was the man when he never beat any reigning champion, despite your claim that the mythical 'Man' has beaten everyone and stands alone.. And you also say Roy was the man at 175 because you
think he would have beaten DM. What happened to actually beating him?
You really are a hypocrite. You have some valid points about Hatton, and I for one will be criticising him heavily if this 'American Invasion' pans out as badly as it seems to be doing. But your refusal to give him any credit at all does you no favours. It's well documented that you don't like him, but as long as you continue to depict him as a guy who only fights total tomato cans will lead to you being criticised. Yes, he should fight Witter. But you have to stop judging the man's whole career against a guy who, frankly, is seriously overestimated by you.

Its gonna be Hatton's stateside debut in May so i doubt they'd pick another Brit as an opponent.

Any kind of criticism of Hatton will only get you one reply: He beat Tszyu, the man of the division at the time... LOL

Only because he steers clear of any opponent that would be a threat to his title. He should have been stripped of his "THE MAN"-ness already. LOFL

Max and Lirva are sad. In their eyes Hatton can do no right and the fact that most other people can see Hatton is the top guy really annoys them.

Would be a great fight even now. Witter would run though and ultimately get the beating he deserves.

Hey knob-cheese, if you're so sure it won't happen why not offer to bet someone?

I'll bet Witter isn't the next fight in the US. I'll pay if I'm wrong so I'm not going to bet anything silly. Anyone with over 500posts game?

Actually Goz can't see it happening. However I was just taking the opportunity to have a pop at the already humiliated Lirva. Which was actually quite cruel of me. I apologise.
Hatton-Witter doesn't really make much sense in the US although both are now known out there.
What happened to the deal with Golden Boy Promotions etc? I thought things looked really promising for Witter after N'Dou win and he's done fornicate all since then except let a year of his career drift past.

Actually, Lirva is quite right, Hatton isn't No 1 in the Light-Welter division, it's Jose Luis Castillo.

Oh well if you were just having a pop at Lirva I apologise
I'm a big Witter fan (although Im losing hope a little), hopefully PBF will win the IBF belt at 147 and Witter can fight for his WBC belt against Corley/Castillo/Corrales (hopefully the latter 2 Cs). I think he can beat all of those (but Castillo would be the hardest - the other 2 he can beat if hes on his game - which he hasnt been the last 2 outings). Then we could have a British unification at the Man City ground in 2007.
In boxing things don't go according to plan and PBF could well end up losing to Judah (this would not suprise me in the slightest). Judah has the tools to beat PBF but possibly not the intangibles.

FFS - HAtton is not the MAN at 140.
He is at best number 2 at 140.
I am starting to think that Hatton WAS scared of Witter.
Hatton is not seeking out the big fights at all.
Turned down Mayweather twice - seeking to fight Lightweights for his US relaunch.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
PBF is the Man at 140 - 147....

Witter did not fight Pinto because of a bad hand, that's just the story that thick people like Lirva want to believe - He had his shot (the one he continually bleats he deserves) and he chose not to take it.
To suggest Hatton is scared of Witter is ludicrous, and you guys suggesting it have no clue whatsoever about boxing...seriously, you know nothing.
Kinda funny that the same knob ends saying the above, also said Tsyu would walk through Hatton in 1-2 rounds.
Go figure :)

I understand the frustration with Hatton and I'm frustrated with him too; but I really don't see excitement of a match-up against Witter. I saw on an earlier post somebody mention the fighters Hatton is dodging and it said "Cotto/PBF/Witter", and my Dr Pepper was coming down my nose when I read that! It's like saying "Felix Trinidad/Oscar De La Hoya/Ryan Rhodes". I see Witter as a decent domestic-level fighter who will never achieve at world level. Hatton would have no problem against this guy at all; because he has no real punch power and no defence. In fact I think Maussa would beat Witter.
Like I said I understand the frustration with Hatton, but don't see how fighting a "has been" like Gatti/Freitas can be any worse than fighting a "never-will-be".

Agree with you spam.
For many, Hatton is #1 at 140 after beating Zoo to become linear champ. The problem is, understandably, people are thinking - well he's not no. 1, because PBF/Cotto etc. would beat him. In my eyes, he's sort of provisional #1. Yet, as a lot of arguments rightly suggest, he SHOULD be fighting the other 140ers to cement that place. PBF you should remove from the argument for now since he's up in weight. That still leaves Castillo, Cotto etc to fight to become a no-doubt definite #1 in the div.
Then it comes down to who's goign to fight who and how, who's scared of who etc. People can say Hatton's shitting it at the prospect of fighting PBF/Witter/Colin Lynes. For me, it's a bit pointless. A) If he is, it's his own business/funeral. Ok, if there's definite evidence he is royally shitting these fights, then fine, slate him. But Only a handful of insiders in the business are going to know the real story.
Finally to get on to Witter, as I've just said I don't think anyone should be saying Hatton's shitting it unless they know for certain he is. But then I'd ask, as spam says, whats the need for Hatton to be shitting it against Witter? He's gone off the boil in his last couple of fights, he's lacking inspiration. Maybe a fight with Hatton would get his buzz back, but I really don't think Hatton would be ducking Witter.

The thing is with Witter, yes the fight should have happened in the past, and should still happen now. But Witter's reputation has always seemed to increase without that fight actually taking place. His whole career is defined by Hatton: Whilst Ricky was beating no-names at a packed M.E.N., Witter was knocking out the likes of Lucky Sambo. Hatton got (rightly) criticised, yet Witter's momentum built, because he had Hatton in his sights.
What happens if they do fight, and, as I expect, Hatton wins? Where does Witter go? America has no interest after the Judah fight, And if he should lose to Hatton, nobody will care about him over here. He's able to keep his name in the frame by virtue of wanting a Hatton fight.
Which, as I say, is no reason for the fight not to happen. It makes perfect sense for the two to fight. I just think that all those who champion Witter would be in for a rude awakening if the two did meet. Because I honestly can't see Witter stopping Hatton, and there is absolutely no chance he wins on points.
The whole saga is beginning to resemble Vitali calling out the retired Lewis: One undoubtably talented fighter needing a guy who has no need whatsoever of him, because the other guy has, for right or wrong, overshadowed his entire career.

You are right, and 'The Man' @ 140lbs should be looking to take on a better quality of opposition than fighters like Rabah, Gatti, etc. Fact is, he's still the man until someone beats him!
He's not the clear best in the division until he beats Cotto/PBF/Witter.
Why Witter? What has Witter done to warrant having to beat him to be declared The Man. Witter lost against his only ever world class opponent and has been on the slide in his recent fights, he's just another Light Welterweight contender at this stage of his career who will become the new Howard Eastman. Witter has never threatened to be The Man himself thus should not have to be beaten for one to declare himself the man.
As for Floyd, well he's a division above now isn't he? That then leaves Cotto who holds the least prestigious of the main belts and will probably move up if he keeps struggling to make weight and has looked very fragile in recent fights.
Cotto is pretty much the only one who could make a rival claim but there will always be people who have potential below The Man, doesn't mean they are The Man. Cotto has yet to beat anyone of World Class level.
Witter is the BRITISH, EUROPEAN and COMMONWEALTH champion.
Do you honestly believe that the fight shouldn't have happened?
Do you honestly believe the fight shouldn't happen?
PBF will be at 140 again. He was available for Hatton but Hatton chose MAUSSA and then said he needs TWO WARM UP FIGHTS AGAINST RABAH AND GATTI.
Who has Hatton beaten to have this great resume? All he beat was an old Tszyu who had fought not even 3 rounds in 2 years and at one point had said he may never fight again due to his career threatning injury. He was not the same and would have been beaten by Corley/Cotto/PBF/Witter etc that night. Hell, I'd even give Maussa a shot.
Who else has Hatton beaten that was any good? The punch bag Tackie? Ancient phillips? Steven Smith? joke Stewart? Carlos Wilfredo Vilches? Dennis Holbaek Pederson (former super feather).
Seriously, tell me because I'm interested.
Now contrast it with COTTOs resume. He beat Maussa in his 15th fight I think. He has 25 fights now and what was Hattons record like in his 25th fight?
Get over Hatton. He struggled big time with MAUSSA and got caught repeatedly. lol. He beat an old Tszyu and now people lick his balls. He'll get a hiding from Witter/Cotto/PBF/Corley/Mitchell etc. There is a good reason why he has never fought a SLICK fighter. There is a good reason why he RAN from Witter. I'd take Kotelnik to beat Hatton comfortable by outboxing him. Abdullaev has a chance too.
Hatton is terribly overrated. Floyd would humiliate him.
But I expect you lot to overrate him. This is a BRITISH forum after all.

Congratulations states, you are the only person I know who thinks that Ruiz/Valuev/Toney/Barrett/Holyfield would have beaten Vitali.
Also congratulations state, you are the only non german who thinks michalchewski had a chance to beat Roy Jones.
Hatton is overestimated by you. 40 punch bags, 1 old Tszyu.
It will be funny if he ever fights Floyd. He'll get the Gatti treatment and I'd love to see the faces of all the Hatton dickriders when that happens.

Sure Witter was scared of Pinto yet he fought Judah on 9 days notice.

and went to america to fight ndou. both of whom are better than pinto.
hatton is scared of witter because of his style. he's obviously scared as he has ran from witter for years. hes afraid. if not he would have fought witter all these years.
its amazing what fear can do to a man.

How do you know his hand wasn't damaged? If he took it fought with 1 hand and lost it would have ended his campaign as a contender and you'd criticise him for that.

The point is not that I think they would have won, because I don't. The point is that you said certain things should be proved, and in those cases, those things never happened.
I don't have a problem with you thinking Witter would beat Hatton, I have a problem with your bullshit logic.
