Where did you get the figure of 4 million from? Is Hatton really that big a star that he gets 4 million to fight someone like Lazcano? What's the most PPV buys he's had, and how much are foxwoods paying to host the fight?

Thing is, Foxwoods is in the middle of fornicating nowhere, so are people really going to flock there just to see Hatton fight?

Lazcano will be getting paid bollock all to make this fight work, which is I guess why we have his name in the first place. A guy who is prepared to take the thin cut for the chance to gatecrash the boxing elite.
Hatton is getting 4 million. Foxwoods are paying a mil or so, with Sky and HBO paying a few mil each

Foxwoods is only an hour from Rhode Island so its not too far out. All they need a a couple of high rollers to get their stake back.
$ o £ ????????????? £4million for fighting Lazcano is ludicrous

That's what happens when you're a god in your home land, and people will pay to see you no matter who you fight.

If he doesn't dominate Lazcano or Rabah, I think he slips from P4P lists big time.

hatton's only big danger is cuts, especially fighting in the US where they tend to inspect cuts more. :roll:

In case you didn't hear me the first time I DON'T GIVE A F*CK. Ooops, I didn't say that the first time did I? :o

Fact is, Hatton is looking for a lightweight and then RABAH and GATTI.

I knew it all along.

It wasn't Warren, it was HIM!

Hi gents,

I think the trouble is something which many of the top fighters now suffer from - and that is that they only defend their titles twice a year. When Naseem Hamed won the WBO title, he defended it 4 times in his first calendar-year and 5-times in the second. So in those 9 defences he was able to defend against the likes of mandatories Billy Hardy and Remigio Molina, unify with Tom Johnson, face people like Manuel Medina and Kevin Kelly.

With Hatton only fighting twice a year, and what with mandatories having to be undertaken, it basically means he has to fight the Ben Rabahs, and for an "easy" defence as well he is basically out of fights for the year... I'd have had him making 3 defences (at least) in 2006, with both mandatories and a unification (Cotto or whomever the WBC champ may be) being the 3 fights.

The Lazcano fight is not a mandatory, not a unification.....and to be honest - it's a bit of a waste of time.

cheers

Can someone, anyone, confirm who Hatton is fighting? Because I'm bored shitless with the speculation now. About 86 names have been mentioned in the last month (few of which would excite me), but we're still no nearer to confirmation. I don't care what Hatton has done in the past, or what he may do in the future, just put this sorry saga to bed. It must be what, almost 2 months since Hatton held a press conference to announce the date and the venue?
