James Degale lost in his quater final to Aussie Jarrod Fletcher 17-13, lost his lead in the final round.
Welshman Mo Nasir will have to be satisfied with a bronze after losing to Englands Darran Langley.

David Price very lucky to scrape past the indian with 12 seconds to go, after being floored 3 times. Price won by getting 3 standing counts in the final round (final minute of the final round actually).

The indian was comfortably in the lead and boxing Price's ears off, but went to try and get the stoppage after the 3rd KD - Price, to his credit, recovered well and did a good job in the last round.

My opinion though on the British final is changing - really don't know who to pick - will probably make Evans the slight favourite now.

He went quite berzerk about the decision too apparently. Was deducted 2 points in the round for (allegedly) hitting round the back of the head, and also was convinced a good number of his scoring shots didn’t count.

Fighting an Aussie, one wonders…

He looked so impressive in the earlier rounds. A class above the Aussie that “beat” him.

Yeah, Evans is looking slightly stronger at the moment so I can see why you slighty favour him.

From what i've seen the standard has been quite poor. A good league off Olympic, World and European championship level.
Diamonds in the rough have been Frankie Gavin and Jamie Cox. Disappointed that DeGale and Perkins didn't win gold, both have beating better men than the ones who eliminated them.

Forgot all about Stephen Smith! Who's he facing in the final?

kenny anderson looked fantastic overwhelming that aussie.gavin boxed rings round his opponent as well.i was shocked to see price recover and win against his talented indian opponent.i think the indian being much smaller just ran out of steam.great scrap though.

He's going to face Pakistan's Mehrullah Lasi who was one of the favourites to win the last olympics but was injured and didn't come to Athens. Should be an interesting fight.

My fellow Brummie Frankie Gavin looked in good nick and should win a gold :box:

Kenny Anderson has been the best British boxer so far, has dominated every opponent he's faced, hopefully he can win the gold.

Lasi is a superb amateur boxer.

Light Flyweight 48 kg
(ENG) D LANGLEY Vs (NAM) J UUTONI

Langley should take gold, coming off a great win over the hot prospect Welshman M Nasir. Uutoni is a bit of a banger and can catch Langley if he comes in cold. But Langley will out work him over the 4 rounds.
(Langley PTS)

Flyweight 51 kg
(ENG) D BROADHURST Vs (RSA) J CHAUKE

Broadhurst should also take Gold from the South African, but both boxers are fast, who ever gets into the lead by round 2 will take the gold.
(Broadhurst PTS)

Featherweight 57 kg
(ENG) S Smith Vs (PAK) L MEHRULLAH

Smith has the power to stop Mehrullah, catching him will be the problem. Mehrullah will be to fast for Smith outworking him to take the Gold.
(Mehrullah PTS)

Lightweight 60 kg
(MRI) G FRONTIN Vs (ENG) F GAVIN

Frankie Gavin Englands Golden Boy should have no problem with Frontin, putting the pressure on early to force the stoppage to take Gold.
(Gavin RSCOS)

Light Welterweight 64 kg
(LES) M KOPO Vs (ENG) J RUSSAN

Kopo will cause all kinds of problems for the English Man who likes to box under many names, Russan and Kopo are both fast with some power. It Will come down to who wants it the most. I just edge Kopo for Gold.
(Kopo PTS)

Light Heavyweight 81 kg
(NGR) A OLALEHIN Vs (SCO) K ANDERSON

Olalehin wont withstand the power from Scotlands Kevin Anderson. Olalehin will come on srong in the 1st round and remain on the back foot untill the Scot catches him and its all over.
(Anderson KO)

Super Heavyweight +91 kg
(WAL) K EVANS Vs (ENG) D PRICE

This should be a cracking fight that wont go the 4 rounds. Both boxers have great power, it comes down to has the stronger chin.
Price could outjab Evans and win by points but will forget his boxing and go in for a tare up that Evans will win.
(Evans Stoppage)

I'm getting pissed off with some of Jim Neillys commentating, some of the refs have been bad, but i thought he was out of order slagging off anything that doesn't go the way he wants it.

Watched Gavin against the Aussie, he was exceptional. By far the best performance I have seen in the whole tournament.

I thought the first three rounds of the Indian vs Price was the best performance I have seen.

Did Brad Pitt win his semi in the heavyweights - I missed them.

Would like to see that Indian lad again, he looked good for the first 3 and a half rounds. Not to sure he's a proper Super heavy, i'd like to get him down to heavy, would be the business there

Have to say appologies to Steve Smith - didn't think much of him in the ABA's.... I considered him one of the weakest boxers in the English team P4P..... He's exceed my expectations.

Yeah, Smith beat him. The only chance the Pakistani has is if politics decide that there must be a Pakistani gold medallist. :TU:

Don't follow the amateurs that closely to be honest, mostly keep an eye on how the local lads are doing. Heard people say they expect Stephen to surpass older brother Paul in the future. I'm sure there's another, younger Smith who's the best of the lot as well!

He was right about the african refs though.

How does he slag off anything that doesn't go his way? :-?

Yup, it was a great performance. He was recognised as the most improved British amateur last year and his performances clearly illustrate that. Get in there me son! :TU:

Atleast us Brummies will have someone to cheer given that Birmingham City are struggling in the footie

Mehrullah did go to Athens. He was stopped in two rounds by cuban star Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Well i just find him annoying, maybe its just his style i don't like that much, he always seems to think he knows what the boxers or officials should be doing instead of commentating on whats going on in the ring. Richie Woodall is there to give a more analytical call on the action, so maybe Jim should leave that to him.

You can find betting on all the boxing finals at Stan James:

http://www.stanjames.com/betting/index.asp

You need to go to 'Commonwealth Games 2006' then choose the men's boxing from the drop down menu.

Interestingly, Stujones, David Price is fav for the Super Heavy final, so you may want a punt on Kevin Evans.

I will have a small one - the fight with the Indian must have taken a bit out iof him.

I'm a bit concerned that Evans might have some damage around the right eye from his semi final, If price starts landing his jabs on that it could blow up a bit, it doesn't take much of a swelling to cause a stoppage in the amatuers
