I don't agree really, because Collazo is a completely unknown paper champ how many of us here have ever seen him fight?
I've seen him fight three times in the flesh and he would get murdered by Hatton imside three rounds IMO So why don't they pay the money, grab a 147 title and kiss goodbye to court orders, weight making and the like.
Collazo is WBA champion whether we like it or not so why don't they pay him what he wants. Was HAtton not getting more than that for WBU title fights? Obviously he is now learning that he was well paid then!
Agreed, seems Hatton is finding it hard out there in the big bad world. his greed has come back to haunt him.

I couldn't comment on the precise figures for Hatton's defences of the WBU, as I don't know them, but it sounds similar as a ball park figure to what Hatton was getting (between 250,000-500,000) per fight?
Well yes, there is an argument to say that of course, it would perhaps be wise to forego the large slice of the cake, get the title, and be in a position to challenge for Welterweight honours against Gatti/Mayweather/Cotto etc.
Hatton had the advantage of being a draw, to my knowledge Collazo has no fanbase and is not filling out his home arena when he fights. Hatton was well moved by his promotional team, and therefore was in a position to call the shots. What you say just proves my point that belts do not fighters make. The WBU belt satisfied TV's desire for a title on the line, nothing more, it was Hatton's fighting style and the way he was packaged which brought the crowds in.
Blue, you would agree would you not that Collazo is hardly a household name? Bear in mind that Bernard Hopkins a long running champ, earnt less than $1million a fight for a LONG time.
Blue, are you telling me that in America then, Collazo is a highly regarded and well known champ, if you are, you are talking bollocks, Collazo is the definition of a paper champ, he's beaten absolutely nobody of note and was handed the opportunity for a belt due to the malarky of the sanctioning bodies.

Don't be a plonker. This guy is unknown even in his own back garden.

Colazos basically asking for 33% and hes the champ with the belt so its hardly unwarranted. Ricky wants to pay someone $250k when hes getting $3million and thats why no ones signed to fight him.

Lets see if Collazo can find anyone else to pay him 1 million, my guess is not.
Ignore the belt, the guy is completely unknown, and not just here, he's got no following, no fanbase, and is not a syndicated fighter. All he has is a paper belt and the desire to cash in on it, no shame in that, but I doubt he is going to get what he wants.

If your fighting the hardest opponent you've faced to date you want more than what your average defense brings in. If Collazo makes 3 easy defenses and then cashes in he'd make more than $1m. He'd probably make the fight for less than $1m if thats the figure hes quoted at - he could be negotiated down.
The WBA belt is also worth ALLOT to Hatton - unfying with PBF/Gatti/Baldomir would be more lucrative. You can't say foget about the belt because the belt is the only reason this fight is been talked about.

Looks like IBF are ordering him to face Rabah in May or he will lose his IBF belt, which means the WBA will go as well!

HE wouldn't lose the WBA if the IBF strip him.

Collazo could well be fighting for peanuts if he doesn't fight Hatton, there's lots of belt holders who earn shit money for title defences, and the fact is he's poor enough to lose to ANY of his mandatories, so as you say, he'd be well advised to take less than the million he asked for.
If he sticks to his guns, he's likely to end up fighting for $100,000 and losing his title in his next defence. Which TV network is even vaguely interested in showing his fights.

Agreed. For fighting a no-name, Collazo will be on far less than 100K. He is only going to make six figures against a name - effectively cashing in his belt.

The purseoffer for Collazo vs Urkal was won with a bid of $460.000, Collazo will get 75% of that.

345k against Ukral whos very beatable and not a threat to your health even if you lose or 500k (probably what was offered) to face Hatton who he'll most likely lose too and could get beat up into the bargain.
James, Collazo can't be that bad if Billy Graham thinks he'll make Hatton look bad.

isn't Stevie 'Little But Faded' Johnston in the running to face Hatton?

Have you looked at Collazo's record? Graham meant that Collazo is a spoiler, and that it wouldn't make for an interesting or exciting fight.
Collazo is a no mark of the highest order.
I hope the Hatton's come to some arrangement over this, but I don't see Collazo getting what he asked for, otherwise I think it would have been announced by now.

collazo called out everyone under the sun a few weeks back and now he's stalling over the real reason he called those people out....money.

Yea Ive seen his record, its about as good as Hattons pre-Tszyzu hes fought a couple of guys that have been in with top guys and seems to have handled them.
I have no idea how good Collazo is
If Collazo has got skills I think his height, reach and southpaw style will cause Ricky allot of problems.

i don't recall any 3rd KO stoppages on hatton's record.

and hatton's KO record was a damn sight better after 26 fights.

No Hatton would of been a first round KO victim though if he wasn't helped by Vann against Magee

- j/k but kos happen in boxing, Wlad coul potentially beat any HW but we've seen him embarassed.
He had an early defeat but stopping Miguel Angel Gonzalez is something only Tsyzu did before - Delahoya and Spinks couldn't
Hes supposed to be a boxer not a ko artist so maybe he'll pull out something in a big fight and cause problems.
Collazo is 43rd on Boxrec

Why the surprise, just because he's got a belt doesn't mean he is highly regarded.
Without even looking I'm pretty confident fightnews won't have him ranked in their top 10.

Blimey, stand corrected, he's ranked 5th! Based on what for christ's sake!?
