No, that fight wasn't fixed.
Shit, we should have an FAQ for this section. It seems like every week, someone thinks he's clever for believing Johnson's account of that fight.
Hey, I'm not thinking I'm clever. I don't know the full story and i'm keen to hear other peoples points of view.

Former NFL star turned "boxer" Mark Gastineau had most of his fights fixed for him, one way or another.
Hollywood "tough guy" Mickey Rourke also benefited from the fix.
Even so, both guys were quickly exposed as being almost thoroughly incapable in the ring.

..the first fight between robert villemain and jack lamotta....which lamotta won by a decision that was so bad they had to air out the arena for days before it was made safe for human beings.

maybe it was an equal opportunity initiative on behalf of the judges/ref? Why should the loser of a fight have to be burdened with a loss?

I wondered about Rourke, I saw a clip of one of his fights , wasnt super impressed. Anyone here ever seen him fight? And, the Gastneau saga may have been one of Boxings more ignominious chapters.
