Imagine how tough he'd REALLY be if he'd read Strunk and White and learn to cut down on his modifiers....as in "QUITE defensive." He could also cut down on the letter K in "jackclem."[/i]

Although I consider myself very pro-Liston with regards to his ability it seems obvious that Ali was frustrating and hurting Liston in their first fight. Liston certainly did not appear to be enjoying the experience at all and Ali actually managed to cut Liston's face open with his punches.

Liston said: I never lost a fight I did not throw. Soon after he was suicided. Talked to much it seems. Those 8-1 odds made a lot of people rich. The fac that he was the overwhelming favorite to win i nthe rematch despite supposedly losing the first, shows no one beleived Ali had a chance. And to believe he decimated Liston with a single light punch which may not even have landed (phantom punch) is ridiculous.

But Ali, like Tyson has his fanatic fans who wouldnt open their eyes or watch the tapes critically. Ali may have beaten Liston a few years later, but not when they fought.
