Hattons a fool for giving up the IBF title and perhaps even the WBA... I'm no FW fan generally but have always thought that Ricky was making a mistake leaving him... its the Conteh story all over again... all Hatton needs now is to beak his hand and I'd advise him to visit a good witch doctor to try and rid him of the bad karma he seems to have picked up!!!....

The belt DID mean something too, it was a bargaining chip for a unification battle between Hatton and Mayweather next year some time. Without that belt, it will be a lot harder to argue for purse parity with someone like Mayweather who has a god complex already.
Sorry was I talking in terms of fans, and legacy. Of course the belt meant everything in this matchup, the only reason he was Collazo is because he is a champ, albeit a paper champ.

Like I said they have fucked up, let them get over this hurdle and hope a fight with winner of Gatti/Baldo can be made for his next.

This is a retard.

"Belts don't mean anything, the fighter makes the belts, there is too much alphabet soup in boxing."

(Hatton fights for a paper title against Maussa and then tries to get one against Collazo)

"Hatton fought Maussa for the belt which is acceptable and he was fighting Collazo for the belt which is also acceptable. The belts matter."

So they matter to suit an argument when people are biased.

Yes the alphabets seem to matter financially, which should't be the case as there are far too many.

The case against the WBA was not brought by Ricky, but by that well known French Light Welterweight who was surprisingly signed by FW, perhaps BC can tell us who is paying his American legal fees.
How can Ricky fight for his WBU title, which is at at a different weight?
Perhaps BC can tell us when Ricky paid 5k to Keep his WBU belt.
Ricky has a 3 fight deal with HBO and was wanted by Showtime, as BC will know HBO has the much bigger audiences in the USA.
ESPN are not in ther running at the moment, but Ricky remains on good terms with them.
Why would Ricky give King any options? King has signed an agreement that he will deliver the WBA belt so why should team Hatton worry?
Ricky's money is guaranteed for the next 3 fights, it does not depend on belts.
What have the Hatton's done to FW? They gave him the opportunity but he didn't/couldn't come up with the money, so they signed for someone else. FW then told everyone he had a contract and would stop the fight, and we all know what happened next!!
BC asks who will be watching this fight?....well I am sure he will be with his Boss wondering how they managed to lose Britain's best fighter!!
I did dispute and still do. Hatton is less than honets about his purses as we all know. Does Billy get his 10%, if so he must be very, very rich if he is getting 10% of the real figures.

The French Welterweight is bring the case but the judge has put the resrtction on the WBA, has he not? He's paying his own fees I assume and will keep the large damages too and the costs.

Why would King sell a champion on the cheap without options, he never has before? Doesn't that make you wonder if you have been sold a dummy?

Showtime didn't want him, the actually gave FW there word that they would not do a deal. Confirmed in writing as is the £5k for the WBU, didn't Waterman tell you?

Why has he not been stripped afdter 12 months of inactivity? Because he has paid the money. Eric Teymour was stripped because he did not.

As for losing Britains best fighter, last time I looked Joe Calzaghe was still a very happy camper.

Perhaps you should not believe all that Ray and Speaky (Who after all is a copper) tell you.

Admit it, FA have fucked up Ricky's career and Don has taken their trousers down as I said he would.

Oh and another thing, Sky have not contracted to show Clinton Woods. Richard Poxon has admitted as much and NO sky personnel are booked for Sheffield on 13th May.

I agree that Calzaghe is Britains best, not Hatton.

I reckon King and Pellullo have got together and pulled one over on FA

Pellullo has put no money in, but will take a share of the profit. If it loses, you reckon he would give FA his share of the losses?, like hell.

King has earned his corn in promoting the fight as he is a bigger name than anyone involved.

The show, even with Woods-DeLisle (which SKY will show) is not PPV material though.

Calzaghe on ITV is much batter value.

I wont be buying the Hatton PPV.

Ricky Hatton is back - and he's back on Sky Box Office!

The Hitman is out to conquer American in the early hours of May 13 when he takes on WBA welterweight champion Luis Collazo, looking for his third world title in the space of 11 months.

The eagerly-awaited match-up will top a sensational world title triple bill on a busy night on either side of the Atlantic, with another British world champion, Clinton Woods also in action.

First up Woods defends his IBF light-heavyweight title against Australian challenger Jason DeLisle in front of an adoring Sheffield crowd.

After that, Sky Box Office coverage switches Stateside to Boston's Fleet Center where Esham Pickering will challenge the undefeated Valdemir Pereira for the IBF featherweight world title.

And to top it all off comes the man event and Hatton's date with American destiny.

Not only is he stepping into the relative unknown, Manchester's finest is also stepping up to welterweight for the first time in his unbeaten 40-fight career.

It will be New Yorker Collazo's second defence of his title and as a southpaw with just one defeat in 27 pro bouts, he will provide a tough test for the Hitman as he aims to do what his domestic rivals haven't and become a major force across the pond.

Hatton's dream has always been to box on the biggest stages of all and he knows the WBA title will be a powerful bargaining tool when it comes to luring the likes of Floyd Mayweather into the ring in the future.

And the man himself knows the pressure will be on when he steps in front of the American public and the Sky Box Office cameras come May 13.

"It is a real fight, a real title and a real opponent," he says of the Collazo fight.

"A few years ago we were reading that Ricky Hatton is afraid to step up to world level and won't leave Manchester, but I think we have heard the last of it now."

Sky Box Office viewers will remember the emotionally-charged night at the MEN Arena when Hatton arrived on the scene with a sensational stoppage against Kostya Tszyu and the November night when he unified the WBA and IBF titles with a stunning knockout of Carlos Maussa.

To see if he can complete a hat-trick of world title wins and become Britain's only two-weight world champion simply follow the booking instructions and join the Hitman for his date with destiny...

FA have really messed up, first fight more than 2x what your boss ever paid him (and more than he offered for the same fight )
Then 3 fight deal which will make him one of Britain's best paid sportsmen never mind boxer.
Why don't you ask the WBU if Ricky has paid them any money?
I am sure Joe would be a lot happier if you got him a 3 fight deal with HBO and then he could earn what he deserves!!
Are you suggesting that Paul and or Ricky are dishonest?

Yes but if he had stayed with Warren, he would earn more, for longer.

If FA are paying him £2.5m for a non title bout, in that Boxing hotbed, Boston, with no site fee, they will go bust soon.

I heard they didnt make much if anything from the Sheffield show, and had to give Hatton some extra money at the end. They were hoping that he wouldnt take it, but he did.

The money they are paying him is not sustainable. How much can they be getting with Pellullo and KIng involved, not much.

myeeeh,
dosent bother me, belts mean nothing these days, id rather it this way acctually. its good because if ricky dosent feel right at welter he will have no reason to stay (exept to fight floyd of course, but i just cant see that happening. it would be to good to be true...)
i think ricky belongs at 140. despite a few people leaving there are still some good fights for ricky down there.

This is exactly it! I mean it's all well and good paying Ricky hand over fist (if indeed that's what is happening), but the idea of a promotion is to make money for yourself too. How they can afford to pay Ricky so much for a non title bout, as you say without a site fee, and without a massive crowd either, is beyond me.

Possibly they are banking on a big cash out fight at the end which will make them a load, but that seems risky.

Is Hatton still on a fight by fight deal with them? If he is, what's to stop him buggering off when the biggest fights come?

I can see how signing Hatton was a massive opportunity for FA, but it could end up breaking rather than making them if they are throwing money at Ricky.

Perhapsd Ricky will put his WBU belt, which he has paid to retain, on the line agsint Collazo, either that or his fight will be a non-title affair.

Hardly the most astute team are they?

Still think he's gonna get three-times his Tszyu purse for a 12 round non-title fight? Didn't you wonder why King didn't ask for options on Hatton?

Is anyone going to stay up until 2am to pay for and watch a meaningless fight?

Why has Hatton paid £5k to the WBU to keep their belt whilst vacating the IBF title and risking the WBA by taking this fight.

Always a pleasure to get a regular bucket of bile from you boxingchat. Informed bile, but bile nevertheless.

You're a bit like Lord HawHaw in having an agenda so I will be interested to see which of these assertions that you present as facts turn out to be indeed facts.

But history can't be rewritten to make it seem as though FW's Hatton promotions were always the trouble free super pro jobs that you would like them to be seen to be. Pinto, Harris, Vilches, Phillips - none of these promotions were free from various promotional last minute dramas.

Perhaps if this fight does indeed turn out to be for the WBA welterweight title you will kindly come back and apologise.

I agree with you on one thing however, the WBU belt is obviously a worthless keepsake and if Hatton defended that rubbish then Hatton's promoter would have a lot to be ashamed of. Wonder who guided him to it in the first place..........

Oh it's all Warrens fault. Hatton is never at fault. Just like YOU. You have been assasinating my character just like you are doing to Warren.
Well said Lirva. As soon as you find that PM don'tcallitacomeback sent you calling the bet off, we'll show him where to go

Of course Lirva. You're the boss. If you're worried about your character being assasinated, obviously you're not going to rush to post up the PM that would save your name. That would just be silly.

You're just running rings around my arguments now Lirva, destroying my accusations and ditties at every move. I shall not utter one more word in your direction from now on.

Court proceedings do not allow them to sanction any match involving Ricky Hatton (He has now lost his 'super' status since vacating his IBF belt and now has to adhere to regular champion conditions) until the Judge decides on the M'Baye case. Furthermore, Don King won a purse offer for Collazo to make his mandatory defence against Urkal so he cannot have another WBA match involving Collazo until he has satisfied the purse offer. Urkal is not playing ball either and is insisting he gets his mandatory next and is threatening to sue, through his Promoters Sauerland events, everyone involved in Hatton V Collazo Pellullo, Fight Academy, Don King, the WBA and HBO. Christian Meyer of Sauerland said to day he has not and will not agree to Hatton V Collazo at any price and is insisting the WBA uphold their rules and the terms of the purse offer. King is using a bullshit excuse to do with Urkal US visa which is a smokescreen and Sauerland have shown the visa to the WBA as prove he is able to fulfill the purse offer.

All in all and once again, Steptoe and Son ahve made a rickett and now look unable to deliver Ricky a WBA Welterweight Championship which could now leave him fighting a non-title fight whilst losing his WBA 140lb belt in the process.

The WBA must be sick of hearing Hatton's name as they are now looking at two lawsuits due to his antics and the costs and damages will far outweigh any sanction fees Hatton can provide.

What a mess, way to go Ricky!
Always a pleasure to get a regular bucket of bile from you boxingchat. Informed bile, but bile nevertheless.

Listen carefully you little disturbed toad.

I have kept my counsel on you for months because my life is not characterised by the sickness and sadness that pervades your existence. You ran out on a bet and then lied about it. lied about me and then had the nerve to send me various private messages begging me to be nice to you.

We live in different worlds and I'd rather keep it that way so I suggest you don't push it little man.

Who gives a shit about titles? If Zab Judah retaining the IBF Welterweight title after losing to Baldomir showed anything it was that the ABC organisations are a complete joke.
As long as Hatton is involved in a competative matchup against good opposition who cares if its for the WBF belt, I certainly don't.

Ive requested that the editor of the current scene watches for obscene posts of jomothepure, as I sometimes looks at the forum with my 5 year old son. Can someone stop him, please. What do these nonce case cartoons have to do with boxing?
