I will judge my self when I get to see the fight, but so far most brits have Kelly winning and most italians have Malodrutto winning, so I see a case of national bias.

There is no way anyone with an once of knowledge, Italian or British could say that Kelly got beat.

There is not even an argument. He won and got screwed.

Maybe, but Sven remained undefeated... and I think realistic there are only 3 or 4 dodgy decisions at maximum in Ottke's career. Never seen the fuss about the dodgy decisions, there were not as many as people thought. I think Beyer has been equally as lucky.

If Kelly is Ottke, then Malodrutto is the Armand Kranjc of Italian boxing.

ottke used to throw about 10 punches a round.

kelly was peppering the guy with a lot more than that.

Ottke always had the referee on his side got points taken off his opposition with constant moaning over phantom fouls. Thats the difference.

I was pulling for Maludrottu! Thats the thing, if the rounds where close I would have leaned towards him! I was a fan after watching him vs Lopez a few fights ago.

If you don't believe us Freiheit, then believe the punch stat which had Kelly landing more than double the amount of punches that the Italian landed.

Their really isn't that much national bias on this forum. Most on here will call it exactly as we see it. Theirs no point in bullshitting.

Okay first off the fight was fought in front of a local crowd in Andersontown, Northern Ireland which is a pretty staunch Irish Republican stronghold so Kelly is hardly a flag waving Brit.
Indeed the U.K. is a very divided country and Scots people are often likely to support an English sportsman's opponent as there is often Neighbourly rivalry. So lets just bin the notion that all U.K. fight fans go to bed under the Union Jack and say 'God Save the Queen' last thing at night because that is bullshit and isn't how it works on these Isles.
Secondly I must admit I don't have much respect for the Italian boxing scene. I have seen far too many dodgy decisions on Eurosport in that neck of the woods and have been disgusted by too many boxing con men from there as well such as Vincenzo Nardiello, Silvio Branco, Vincenzo Cantatore etc. all of whom have tried to cheat there way to victory in fights. However if the Italian fight fans ALL fought their guy won it then they obviously know JACK SHIT about boxing. The Italian fighters punches landed and accuracy stats were miles behind Kelly's FACT and when the decision was read out the Italian looked mystified. He didn't even celebrate FACT.
Ex world champ Jim Watt had it to Kelly by 8 ROUNDS and Johnny Nelson said it was the kind of decision which 'disillusions people with boxing.'
Gilmour the promoter also said its the worst decision he's seen in 30 years of promoting.
It wasn't a great fight. Competitive and the Italian landed a couple of decent blows but he was outclassed and outboxed pretty easily.
WATCH IT and see for yourself. What makes it even more hilarious is the margins of the victory. One judge had it 118-111. A fuckin scandal.
It stinks and so do the EBB and BBBC. A bunch of bloody cowards and cowboys.

I'm absolutely amazed that no one went after the officials. If I was there I would have had a real hard time restraining myself, because injustice like that makes my blood boil.

Didn't see the fight, was not far away from the arena as well was thinking of going down. Will have to make do with SKY replay instead. So where does Kelly go from here then? At 31 it's a long hard road ahead for him.

He's 33 , and the best he could hope for is a rematch but I assume the EBU will make sure that doesn't happen .

I had it 118-110 for Kelly and that was giving the benefit of the doubt to Maludrottu.

Kelly fought a wonderfull fight at times his punches fell a little short but I really can't see how the judges managed to give so many rounds to the Champion.

Kelly as always conducted himself with class, in and out of the ring and I admire his conduct. If that had been me being shafted like that the air would have been blue I can assure you.

As for the BBBofC's Charles Giles If you are reading this I would like to ask how do you sleep at night? You are suppose to represetnt the interests of UK Boxers but your laughable comments on SKY last night prove without doubt you don't care about the fighters, fans or the sport.

Also you were asked a few simple questions by the SKY interviewer which your failed to answer. Why didn't you just admit your not interested in the sport of Boxing your only interested in the status symbol of being a BBBofC member? Its so abvious by your appearence on TV last night that you either know nothing about Boxing or just don't care. Well Mr Charles Giles I do care about Boxing and you should be ashamed of yourself, you sicken me to the core.

Personally I wouldn't have had it 10-2 Kelly, though scoring by volume, and to a lesser extent cluster, that score is plausable. I didn't score it round by round but I'd probably have had Kelly three rounds clear at the most, one at the worst. But he definately won, no doubt about that. Did it the old way and pulled it off down the stretch (bizarre report on fightnews). That is all that matters - no point picking flaws inside an inherently flawed system.

Now comes the whine: let's be honest, robberies are one of the truisms of boxing - pugilism's pug-faced sister. There's no getting around that unless you go back to the days of contests on a barge, or in a drinking hall, where, to put it mildly, there was less regulation. Thank god for regulation, but what happens when a regulator known for being amongst the stuffiest (leading you to think proper) of authorities, gets temporarily exposed... and we get a mere placebody acting, frankly, like you'd expect an EBU henchman... Hold on, who exactly are these people with big voices in the shadows, mute on TV?
