I actually thought Athur looked good against a decent opponent, He looked all arms and legs and had a worrying twitching motion (I don't know why, I always worry when I see a fighter with a twitch) that made him look more awkard than good, but he was tough.

Arthur showed poise under pressure and bottle to comeback from that poor start... I thought after 3 rounds that he is going to lose.

I don't think he ever be an outstanding world champion if he gets a belt, but probably now has justified a shot, and I depending on the champion/co-challenger, I don't think it is out of the equation. He is massive for the weight.

Gulyakevich's style was odd indeed, he had a very jerky, twitchy mannerism and almost jerked forward to throw punches. His face was starting to look a little mangled after about round 5 and that cut was serious. I laughed when John Rawling mentioned Gulyakevich wasn't very talkative and neglected to speak at the press conference, then a few rounds later revealed the Belarussian didn't speak a word of English. Well that's probably why he didn't say anything then

Overall, I was impressed with the way Arthur dealt with an awkward dangerous puncher, who could have proved a major banana skin if he wasn't careful in there.

Showed a good chin when caught, and a calm head when the punches were flying his way. And we know he's got the heart for a battle.

I think he has it in him to win a world title this year. Especially if he gets old man Medina.

What is it with these Russian-area guys and their youthful looks and mid-90's hairdos?

I agree, I think it is possible he could pick up a title. Maybe against Medina. By no means a certainty but I think it's very possible. His tendency to mix it up early wouldn't be much of an omen - barring cuts - but if he really takes his top-level game into it he can win. The defence is definitely still leaky, but at times I thought he was defending well against a fast, sharp and determined opponent -- that headbutt was a nasty one and, to be honest, I hope Arthur's one shortly after was deliberate. Gulyakovich, dejected as he was, is definitely still a bit threat at this level and the EBU could do worse than to give him another go, should Arthur vacate. And I agree with steve698 - Jim Rosenthal was a bit of a cock.

It seemed as though Arthur's management had seen something before the fight to suggest that Gulyakevitch was vulnerable to the big overhand right, cos he certainly tried it a good few times and with mixed success. Although the one he cault him with which was followed by the clash of heads was a good shot.

Arthur is definately improving, the old Arthur may have fallen apart under that early attack or got drawn into a war. The more thoughtful approach is working, but I think it makes him look one paced.

Medina would be a big ask if Arthur goes for the IBF, I think that Arthur would be too slow to deal with the hit and move arm punch style of Medina.

BTW What are Arthur's interviews all about? I don't know what would be more dangerous, getting into a fight or a conversation with Arthur

I agree... I don't know why Jim isn't doing the commentary rather than Rawling... I think he'd do a much better job... him and Barry carry the show presenterwise...

I've always thought he's a good bloke, always does a great job on the F1. Cant think of any other better anchor's than Jim.

I think Arthur was very lucky last night... where was the movement?... the jab?.... the defence??... if he steps up to true world class he can't afford to fight the way he did last night... on that form Medina will run rings around him....

Nice to know he's a sound bloke away from the cameras, but in front - professional as he is - there's something about that grin... just reminds of a salesman. All that hype-style bluster after Khan 'dethroned' Kindelan didn't help much, neither when he constantly bungled Kostya Tszyu's name up. These were just recent and are pretty trivial - maybe he's just getting his feet warmed back into covering boxing - but it didn't endear him to younger ITV fans like myself, who weren't around in the 80s (and weren't properly perceptive in the early/mid 90s). But, to be honest, as long as they show the full fights I don't really care too much if they have Micky Mouse as lead anchor. :)

Elton was the anchor for Heanrs vs Andries and Jim and Terry Marsh were the commentators - Jim Watt was in the studio. Somehow I cannot see that commentary team working again on ITV but Jim asks good questions and since that "fighting talk" has been dropped the shows have been much more enjoyable.

I couldn't really fault Last Nights show, it was the two main fights shown in full. The only criticism I could have was surely they could have shown the Young fight in full also.

He is much better than Colonel Bob Sheridan, who just doesn't seem to have the enthusiam any more (perhaps I am very wrong, thats the impression he gives me) and yes, he Duran vs Hearns commentary was a classic... and DOWN!!!!!!!!!. I definately think he is a boxing man.

Pretty subjective as well...Jim's a legend. You werent around in the 80s? How old r u? 16?

What happened with the knockdown at the end of one of the rounds? Cant remember which round sorry.

The ref ruled it a slip I think but from where we were sitting it looked like AAA caught him with a couple of flush shots and it was kind of a delayed reaction with him going down? How'd it look on TV?
